Most are proud of it and embrace it. Some probably are as you say "embarrassed" which is wrong. Until oil it is what the state was known for.

There are 59 teams (Lacrosse even has more) in the highest level of the regional sport known as college hockey (of which 40 have never won a National Championship). Not saying it's easy but wouldn't you say UND should have more than what they have and < than a 13 year gap since the last one?

There are twice as many teams in FCS football than there are playing at the highest level of college hockey. Also, there is a highest level of curling too but nobody cares about that outside of Canada either.

Hanging out at the cabin with a player on a team that plays for a team in the National that says without a doubt UND is the toughest place to play on the road. He says the crowd plays a much bigger part in a game than you can imagine and that the fans around the penalty box at the Ralph really do there homework on parents names etc... That can get to you. Hats off to the student section. I never thought that stuff made a difference but it sure sounds like it can.
