During a recent podcast, Schloss was reminiscing on old WCHA battles between UND and Mankato and reminded the listener of the 2008 series when a Maverick player not only scored a natural hat trick against UND, but all 3 goals were shorties! I don’t remember this happening but perhaps I wanted to forget it at the time. Lol
Oh I remember that vividly. Probably because they would never stop talking about it and I think the guy’s stick went into the hockey hall of fame.

Mac Swanson listed as a player to watch rather than A, B or C is puzzling. I guess his size is a concern for the pro game, so he'll spend all 4 years in college!
I read an article reacting to the ratings and he was mentioned. They said that scouts expected him to explode offensively this year and at the Hlinka and he didn’t. He’s above a PPG though so I wouldn’t say I’m concerned about his production. But I wish he had different linemates.

Some games get archived and others don't. Not sure how they determine which full games get archived, sometimes it just seems to be a fluke if the whole game isn't there. They even used to have condensed versions of games but I don't think that's available anymore.
All full games are supposed to be archived. If it’s not that’s an issue to address with the NCHC because we are supposed to. The issue to me is the app is so bad it’s extremely difficult to find it sometimes.

Any chatter from Gopher fans about the officiating last night? I think we had 6 power plays to their 2. Lots of tripping calls made. I do know the Gophers got away with a hook on Blake during a second period UND power play that would’ve given us a 5 on 3. It was so obvious too and right in front of the ref. Stick up high around Blake’s neck area as he was marching toward the net with the puck.
Yes they are complaining about it. Every one of their penalties was a dive apparently…
They thought on Friday that when Logan Britt was cross checked into the goal post that that was a dive. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

Anyone know if Matvei Gridin is a college hockey candidate. A 2006 leading the USHL in points. Plays on a team with Boisvert and Croal, so I assume the coaches have seen him play.
I looked him up a while ago because I was curious. I saw an article from last year saying he has no desire to play college hockey. Sounds like he’s planning to just skip it and go pro.

Zmolek blocked a puck and went down the tunnel and didn’t come back.
he definitely came back because he took a penalty after that blocked shot.

I saw him take a puck off the body but I thought he was back out there later.
He was, but I don’t remember seeing him much, if at all, in the 3rd.

Anyone not getting the game on 96.1?
It’s not on that station tonight. It’s on 100.3

Yeah I hate the overuse of the black jerseys those were reserved for special occasions
I can pretty much predict when we will wear them at this point.

Berry sending a message to his “top” line by not starting them?
I don’t really think it matters what order they are listed on the line chart. We started the Jamernik line last night when they were listed as the third line. Berry doesn’t always start the top line anyway.

Honestly I thought he wasn't very good last night. Got beat a few times and seemed to be panicky with the puck. Threw it up the middle a few times early.
I definitely do not disagree with you on that.

Did pehrson get hurt? He was ok yesterday. Our lineup was better yesterday.
Just saw Schloss tweet Pehrson got hurt last night

Based on what Berry said post game last night I didn’t expect to be much changes to the lineup. Pehrson being out is surprising.

We’ve done it in the past, where once we win the draw, the center comes off the ice. Schmaltz for Johannes. It works. The idea is to use Blake to creat space for Perron and Gaber. Our best shooters. Right now, it’s just Gaber and Blake passing the puck back and forth. It’s way too predictable.
I am actually curious if they’d ever try Johannes at center. I’m pretty sure I heard it said that he has played center before.

Schmaltz takes Strinden's spot and Ben is on a wing with Schmaltz.
I think we might be talking about different things. I think you’re talking generally about UND’s 4 centers on lines 1-4.
I was talking about a potential top power play unit. The options listed were Johannes, Gaber, Perron, and Blake. Who takes the draw on that unit?

Our top power play should be Johannes in the slot. Perron on the left, Gaber on the right. Britt/Weibe and Blake on the blue line.
Who’s taking the faceoff though? You have no centers.

Berry said it was average last night. LOL
If that’s average I never want to see mediocre

He was owned by Nelson on pp face offs , couldn’t by a win and gophers got the clear , try Berg tonight.
Minnesota was better on faceoffs all night.
McLaughlin won 4 of 13 draws. (Yikes)
Schmaltz was 4 for 8. Berg was 10 for 18. -

PP is 1 for 12....not good
I don’t think it’s even shown signs of life for most of the first 3 games either. Sometimes we aren’t converting but still getting good chances but I’m not even seeing that.

I’ll watch my words here. Schmaltz is fine, but I don’t see him as a Top 6/9 forward. Incredibly low offensive ceiling. I don’t understand why he’s a Top 6 / PP fixture.
He was our top faceoff guy last year and that was the reason I thought he played top 6 last year. Then they moved him to wing so I see no point to have him there if he’s not taking draws.

I wouldn't be surprised if Penn State goes 10-0 or 9-1 in non-conference play this season.
They lined up a pretty cupcake OOC schedule:https://www.collegehockeynews.com/schedules/team/Penn-State/60
LIU, Clarkson, SLU, AIC, UAA, Lindenwood, and Army.
Dang.Nothing new there though. They always have that kind of schedule. Sometimes it works for them, sometimes it doesn’t.
