Small market or not, Berry still needs to respect (and I am sure he does) all the questions Brad would ask.

Maybe I missed it, but has Berry even had the end of season press conference he always has once the season is over? I am waiting to see what questions are asked then.

Knies getting on this list instead of Hudson

Matthew Knies was the Big 10 player of the year. Kind of hard to win the Hobey without winning your conference’s player of the year award if past winners are any indication.

From a leadership standpoint, you're right, 27 does make sense. There are things that happened this past year, that I hope never happen again. Simply, 27 cannot get the 19 treatment from last year. Similar skill sets. 27 is a 4th line Center on a good team. Hopefully his minutes would follow suit to that.

If we land a top 6 center type in the portal I think it’s a given 27 is going to be the 4th line center. (Or it should be). He’s pretty good on faceoffs and on the PK. I think he knows his role, which is why he’s leadership material.

My knock on the D list? Only Palocsik shoots right.

With Moore plus five freshmen, we're 5L/1R right now. Only Komzak shoots right.

I’m guessing there’s a right shot D we are targeting not mentioned. Schlossman was just throwing out names that are probably at the top of the list for a guy who can play heavy minutes but there are probably also other targets.

Remember, a lot of these portal guys are gonna have a good chunk of offers and that includes visits to UND. I get things are stressful, but we all gotta calm the eff down lol.

Exactly. We can’t just snap our fingers and have a commitment. Gotta successfully recruit them first!

2024 Frozen Four at the X hosted by Goldy himself

Yup. I was thinking about regionals but I’ve heard they’ve opted to move away from bidding on those in favor of bigger events… like Frozen Fours.

If/when UND ever has a chance to do the same to Minnesota, I hope UND's attempt is more "savage" as the kids say.

In 2016 Minnesota hosted and didn’t make the tournament but the Committee sent SCSU to that regional (and then they lost to Ferris State and Denver advanced) and UND went to Cincinnati. I think that’s the last time Minnesota hosted a regional.

I don’t see anything wrong with the tweet either. I laughed when I read it. If we need to put a tweet on a billboard to get us fired up for a hockey game against a historic rival. We have bigger problems. I sure am the UND hockey team will be fired up to play the golden rodents.

If one of the first things Minnesota’s social media person thinks about after advancing to the Frozen Four is UND, we’ll that’s just adorable!

Agreed completely.  He would be a very good get.  From Fargo, so maybe he wants to move closer to home.
Good numbers, and was only a soph this year, so would still have a couple years of eligibility remaining.

Depending on what plans Berry has for Albrecht/Montgomery, Berg would be able to be plugged right into the lineup IMO.

Can someone explain if he is really from Fargo? Because his bio on the UNO website lists his hometown as White Bear Lake, MN.

With the way they celebrated beating UND, Gopher fans thought they had it in the bag.

Yeah they definitely thought it was in the bag. But they were the only ones who did. I met some Boston College fans after the semifinals and they thought the Gophers were going to get destroyed by Union.

They're essentially just wearing the same jerseys but inverted colors.
So yes...lots of blue and gold.  :D
QU should have worn their white home jerseys.

Does QU have white jerseys? I’ve only seen them wear gold when they are home.

Certainly not ideal.  But also not entirely unexpected.  We've been talking for months about how there was a good chance we'd only have 1-3 dmen returning.
Frisch returning would have been huge and Bast entering the portal wasn't a certainty (like Johnson).
Can still be a strong group if the two portal pickups are good and then once the freshmen D get up to speed.

On the plus side...with how much everyone complained about the D group this year and their poor play...maybe this is for the best.  ;)  :D

I’ve been saying it for months that turning over basically the entire d core may be for the best. Fresh slate!

You've been watching the past three days, right? :)

We literally have ONE defensemen for next season and a really nice group of young forwards. Feels like we're going all in on offense lol.

Win the faceoff, keep the puck should be next season’s game plan…

I really hope not, croal could really use another year of juniors. I’ve tracked him fairly closely and while his numbers are ok, he’s really steaky. Another year would help him tremendously. If it’s between the portal and croal…I’d slightly lean Croal however.

I think the plan has always been 2 years of juniors for Croal so if they can avoid bringing him in I would guess they would and just find a guy in the portal.

Based on importance, looking to see if we get word this week on.

    A level importance:

    • Transfer Goalie: Either Haider or Persson
    • Frisch Decision
    • Kleven Decision (Each day that passes, does give me hope that he stays)

    B level

    • Caulfied decision

Other: Clearly getting a high-end defenseman is a top priority, not sure what's in there now is enticing. I know we're split on this, but would be nice if Albrecht signed as well, or if one other of the "depth" guys hit the portal. Talent / Talent / Talent.

As far as D, one of the guys in the portal that ON PAPER would seem to hit all the boxes the coaches usually look for is Tanner Palocsik from Dartmouth. Captain, right shot, pretty good offensive stats, NCAA ice time leader. But I’m not sure about getting a kid from the Ivy League to come to UND. I would imagine once regionals are complete there will be more to choose from.

Of those three that list, all have 2 years of eligibility yes? I don't prefer the Driscoll/DeRidder situation of come in for a season and leave. I like the stability of a trusted multi year guy, but that's just me. If they're a one year guy and are a stud, i'll take it, of course, but thoroughly enjoyed, we'll stay recent, having Scheel for 2+ seasons.

Moe only has one. Persson and Haider have 2.
