I showed this to my co-workers the other day and they were intrigued by it. I did a little searching and there is a wikipedia page on Medicine Hat (the town located 25 miles west) with some info on this Indian head located here. 25 miles to the east lies a landscape formation taking the form of a head with feathered headress facing west, at 50

Satellite Move for The Fighting Sioux Sports Network

I think it is normal for us to be "overwhelmed" when looking at this FTA stuff. I know I was for 2 years while thinking about whether I should get it or not. It is the best $257 I have ever spent and now wish I would have got it sooner. I have cable as well so I can watch regular programing. I bought the motorized Traxis 3500 kit from PSB. One thing with a motorized is that you don't have to go out on the roof to move the dish. Sure, I think it was an extra ~$100 for the motorized version. But it is well worth it. I bought it primarily for the Sioux games but having the motor has opened it up to much more programming, all free! There are many others out there who sell this stuff. But email PSB and he will get you started in the right direction. Very nice and helpful. He won't be able to help you install it in person as he is in a different state like me. But he will certainly email or talk to you on the phone with helpful instructions to get you started. I had the benefit of having a directv installer help me. Just look in the phone book for satellite installers around you. If not, you could just do it yourself. I know I could have, just would have taken longer. -

I am getting 53-58% on my Traxis 3500. It's still coming in clear though. Its odd, when I go to change the position under USALS, I can get it up to 71%. But then when I exit, it goes back to 53-58% -
This may not help any of you in MN or ND. But down here in Des Moines, Iowa, I was able to watch the UND-UW game last night on CSTV channel 171. I have Mediacomm wiith the expanded sports pack for +$5 a month. I didn't think it would be on tonight but I searched the cable box and it came up on the FCS channel 173 tonight. So it looks like after calling Mediacomm every month for 3 years for them to get college hockey finally paid off It looks like it may be on the FSSN tonight so I may just watch it on my FTA!

Kick A$$, my wonderful beautiful girlfriend was right She set up the satellite with the FSSN and the feed is up and it is working perfect now with sound and a 73% signal quality! I have it recording to my VCR since we are getting ready to leave to go out for my birthday. But Ankeny, IA has now entered into the FTA Satellite era with FSSN and the Sioux! I will have to take a picture of where I have my satellite setup and a picture of my tv with the Sioux on it. Just one thing I have posted in my previous reply. When I do an Auto Scan it still hangs on 56% and I just have to exit out of it. Yesterday was fine, now its not. Is there a way to reset it or fix this since I can't get all of the channels in the list. I am so excited now! I have thought about this for 3 years now and finally have it. It is by far the best $257 I have spent ever. Thanks to PSB and others who have helped. -

iceberg - hopefully you will know. How come when I do an auto scan (blind scan) on my Traxis 3500 receiver on the Intelesat 8 89w it freezes at 56% It wasn't doing this yesterday and I think I messed it up somehow. However, with that small minor detail. My beautiful and wonderful girlfriend assures me that this will still pick up the Sioux on FSSN tonight. She is telling me to calm down and just wait 15 minutes before the game and we will do a scan to pick up the feed. This works now for the ABCNews channels. I'm not so sure... -
I would recommend just going to a sports bar/restaurant with Satellite and ask the manager if he has FSN or whatever channel they are on. I doubt they would be on for this weekends games. But you should be able to get the gophers, colorado, etc... I did this when I first moved to IA. Trust me, if they have satellite, they will more than likely have the FSN channels with hockey. Here, this is what I was looking for. I hope this helpsInside College hockey TV Schedule with DirecTV and DishNetwork channels Just pick the games you want to see, remember the DirecTV, Dish Network channel and tell that to the restaurant. If its not busy they should be happy to put it on for you.

I finally got my FTA satellite installed today with the help from my girlfriends brother who is a DirectTv installer. I have a question...I have read that the Sioux feed is only up about 15 minutes before the game starts. We are on the Intelesat Americas 8 @ 89*W and have done a search to where it brings up the channel listing. When it gets closer to game time, will it show a channel listing for UND Game vs. XXXX, the FSSN, or some other channel? It isn't showing anything now and I realize that since its not close to game time. Another question I had was...since I have this running through my VCR, can I set my VCR to record at a certain time on Line 2 for this Satellite channel? Unfortunately, I have to work tonight at 7 and won't be here to do a scan. Sucks, first night I get the satellite working I have to work a 12 hour over night, get off and sleep on my birthday. Go figure... -
Exactly...just like when Mexicans call white people "Gringos" or black people call black people the "N" word but when a white person says it, all he$$ breaks loose. It is hypocritical and a double standard that these people have. Do white people get mad they are called a "gringo," sure. But do they go protesting and killing? Probably not. The same double standard holds true for Islam and Muslims. It is ok for them to kill in the name of their "god" but, if other groups (i.e. Dutch cartoons) do it, all he$$ breaks loose. Double standards and hypocrites...

Cool Thanks! Here they are First the protesters... I am offended by "Cowering Caucasians Then, Chief Illiniwek...ummm, looks peaceful to me??? Another one... To me, I would think to a Native American Indian that this would be an honor that they are keeping their tradition and name alive. Not some self-rightous (sp? sorry, kind of P.O.d) communist group et. al. NC$$ that is and has brought this climate upon everyone. I have said it before, and I'll say it again...Political Correctness will kill us all... EDIT: sorry, the first picture is kind of blurry. I was in a hurry to snap it before they or someone else noticed me. But the shirt on the guy says..."People Not Symbols." And the sign the lady is holding says..."Bad Luck Comes From Incensitive Action." And around the Illini Symbol "Stop The Prostitution of a People's Religion." Now, explain to me where, how, why, when, who has been "Prostituting" a peoples religion???;) The only "Prostituting" I see is from the NC$$ cronies (et.al Communist organization).

I have a picture of Chief Illiniwek at the Saturday 9/24/06 Iowa vs. Illinois Game that I went to with my girlfriend and my parents. I am going to try and post but it may not work (from a free flickr account). Chief Illiniwek during halftime show Another one... And yes, there were a few protesters there too It turns out, my uncle that used to work at the U of I was telling me that the guy on the left has like 2% Indian in him and is a "jacka$$" EDIT: I was afraid of that happening. It wouldn't let me post images from a dynamic link? Anyone have an idea. I really want you to see the protesters...

You better believe I will have it up and ready by next weekend. As a double incentive, it is my birthday on the 7th! I am going to home depot tomorrow to buy some RG6 cable so I can start running that through the wall and the attic to the point I have selected on my roof. That way all I have to do is assemble the satellite, mount it to the roof, and set it all up with the coordinates posted above. -

Well, I just placed the order on PSB for the Traxis 3500 Motorized System. I was tired of thinking about what option to go with and figured I better order otherwise I will never get to watch the Sioux on this. Like I said before, I will get going with this and think about a recording option later. Thanks Iceberg for your experience with the Pansat 6000. -

Hmm, that doesn't sound good about the Panasat 6000. There are a few of these Dreambox 500's on ebay for ~$200-250 (cheaper in Canada). There is also this thing called Lyngbox that looks very interesting. But it isn't coming out until February 2007. It is a FTA receiver, recorder all in one. And it automatically downloads and installs all available channels. I don't know, I think just for now I am going to buy the Traxis 3500 motorized system just to get started and to be able to watch the Sioux games. And then eventually get a PVR or DVR or whatever they are called like this ReplayTV. But they aren't available anymore other than ebay. This is all kind of confusing since there really isn't much information out there on these. -

I have a question for those using these satellites to watch the Sioux games. Do any of you have a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) with these? If you don't know, these allow you to record tv, dvd, cable, satellite shows to a hard drive and then watch at a later date while skipping commercials much like TIVO does. Reason I ask is, I am finally ready to place my order from PSB for the Traxis 3500 motorized system However, I have also found this which is a FTA satellite reciever box with a PVR built in. It also has an ethernet hookup to be able to network and watch shows on other computers in the house. Since I have a network, I would like something like this. There are a few others but I can't find them right now. Anyone have any experience with these? What I may do, is instead of buying that package from PSB. I would just buy a dish and motor from PSB and then buy this Dreambox reciever box. Any other ideas? Thanks -
Anyone know if NCAA hockey PS2 game in the works?
WildSioux replied to Brasco's topic in Men's Hockey
To the OP: Actually a few years ago back in 2004 there was a mod for NHL 2004 on PC. I found this Here and Here (same link found in the first link but it is down) You may try contacting one of those guys on USCHO to see if you can get the mod or download it somewhere. That is if you have the NHL 2004 game on PC -
ESPN/NCAA: Pontiac $5,000 Scholarship Giveaway
WildSioux replied to WildSioux's topic in UND Nickname
^^Yeah, I wonder what happened to GK I just noticed this at the bottom of that page... NCAA is a registered trademark of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. All other licenses or trademarks are property of their respective holders. So its ok to use an Indian name for a "Performance Machine" but not for sports? I even have one of these so called "Performance Machines." There should be outrage from Indians for the NCAA using their "license" and "trademark" name and property. Sure, Myles Brand and his cronies will gladly take thousands of dollars from GM/Pontiac for scholarships but will turn around and stab its member schools in the back for their self-imposed policy...all in the name of political gain, political envy, political power, and ultimately political correctness which will kill us all -
I wonder how the politically incorrect crowd at the NCAA is able to use the "Pontiac" partnership in its scholarship giveaway while NCAA member schools must change their so called "abusive and offensive" names? Hmmm, shall we say DOUBLE STANDARD Pontiac $5,000 Scholarship Giveaway

I didn't read all of the other links. But here is a Startribune: Rodriguez convicted in Sjodin killing article. Good riddance scum
-
In response to those wondering the background of the attorney's in this case. Here is a link with some information on the judge, both the prosecuter Drew Wrigley, and the defense Hoy and Ney attorneys. It doesn't really go into detail where they went to school and their experiences. Dru Sjodin Trial
-
I can only imagine No doubt about that!!!!!! No, I appreciate your insight into this. I don't know what you do but you sound pretty knowledgable about the law on this. BTW, I believe that both ND and MN changed their stance and laws on sex offenders after Dru Sjodin. Can't remember, but I think they made the laws tougher and will watch them more closely after they get out. Thankyou very much for that link HockeyMom! As many others have said in here, no one will forget Dru
-
No problem, don't worry about picking on me SiouxPride, I can handle it Well, I took one law class in college up there at UND but it was aviation law so it does not apply to this. And everything else is just my observation going on in society with these sex offenders and the judicial tyranny. Down here in IA there was a girl named Jetseta Gage (sp?) who was raped and murdered last year. Different case, but the same old BS with the trial being delayed, blah blah blah. In fact, the defense in that case wants the judge to throw out a video that would be used as evidence against him. It is all the same... It just boggles my mind that a level 3 sex offender can be in prison for 23 years, get out into society and do this.
-
I think some may have misunderstood me. I wasn't accusing anyone here of defending Rodriguez. I am just pointing out the fact that it is hard for me to defend and put faith into our justice system for those accused and their right to a fair trial. I know, that is life and that is how it works. I agree that they deserve a fair trial in the chance that they are found innocent. But when was the last time you heard a murderer, in the court room on trial say they are sorry and show mercy towards their victim? There may be a few, but 99% of those accused show no mercy and know they committed a crime to society and the know the consequences. It is the defense attorneys who I have a hard time with, not anyone of you. They have a hard job to do no doubt. The thing that makes me mad in all of this. Is that the evidence is there, but the trial keeps getting delayed (until now), jurors will be picked tomorrow after today's so called "glitch," and there will be appeals sad as it is. Remember, as I pointed out earlier, a single juror kept the so-called 20th hijacker from receiving the death penalty. A single juror can "hang" a jury and prevent an acquittal. I hope this doesn't happen in this case. But that is what has become of our justice system making a mockery out of the victims while helping the murderers. Sadly the victims don't have a say in all of this but the murderer's do.
