  1. I never played the game so could someone explain to me just what Hextall is doing to get the other teams so crazy. He isn't getting alot of penalties so it isn't illegal whatever it is. Do other teams players go crazy just from someone talking/chirping to them?

You might want to watch "Slapshot"... ???

  2. Is it safe to say we hate this DU team MORE than the Goofs of two weeks ago?

I'd say it's a tie. I hate the gaephers...they suck! However...the Pioneers are a close second. 3 of the banners in their rafters could have been ours.

Great game tonight by the Sioux! A repeat performance tomorrow night will serve notice to Cornell, BU, and Notre Dame.

Let's see a stick salute tomorrow night!!! ???

(Bonus points to the person who can tell me what Hextall whispers in the corner...) :D

  3. Absolutely key period coming up. This will show the character of the Sioux...they need to come out and take it to the Pio's.

Tomorrow night will be a nose-to-nose battle. Denver got caught back on their heels early, but it looks like they've regained some composure now.

    Not enough, though. ???

  4. I'm looking for the Sioux to come out firing tonight. They know what this means, and they know they have to treat the Pio's just like the gophers. No respect...skate hard, win the races, and drive to the net.

Nobody has cost the Sioux more national titles than the Pioneers. It's time to start a long cycle of payback.

    Go Sioux!!!

  5. (Denver took 4 points from Mich. Tech )Denver swept Michigan Tech last weekend 4-3 in OT and 3-1. Those games were played in Denver too.

Next weekend is the make-or-break series for the McNaughton, for both teams. There will be a lot riding on each game. Statisticians might predict a split...but heart has a lot to do with hockey. If the Sioux can keep their feet moving and get to the puck first, their chances of taking three or four points go way up. I'd love to see the team come out charged to win like they did against the gaephers. Another fan whiteout wouldn't hurt...or any way to get 11,000 Sioux fans riled up and ready to back their team 100%.

The Sioux have the talent...and I think they are beginning to believe that. Osh is gone, but we have Gregoire and Hextall up front, Big Joe is healthy, and the Sophomore class is starting to turn it on.

Next weekend will be a great weekend in the WCHA...especially at the Ralph.

    Go Sioux!! ;)

  6. One other thing...has anyone noticed how dominant this team is 4x4? How many 4x4 goals have they scored this year? What's their 4x4 +/-?

It's been a while since I've seen a Sioux team that overwhelms quite this well with open ice.

    ;)

  7. Nice to see the team rally and put together a five pack PLUS a big SO for Eidsness. I'm sure his first of many. "Complete hockey game", says Hak.

    That it was.

Two more next weekend! Let's take 4 from Denver at home and see another stick salute!

    Go Sioux!!!

  8. I can't help but think that out of all those shots on goal, if just one were sent by Mr. Kozek we'd all be talking about how to pick up two MORE points tomorrow night.

Still, I'll take a tie over a loss, and two MORE points tomorrow night!! :)

  9. I like how Sherhurd came into the box to settle everyone down. I thought that was funny.

I hope these two teams play in the Final Five.

I hope they play in the Final Five too, but if the goofs keep playing this way they will be hard pressed to make it. Mainly because they just might be visiting the Ralph again as a traveling team. THAT would be SWEET. :D

  10. I'm no WCHA expert, but are there other schools that don't put with goofer sh** or is it just UND?

I work with a guy who is a MTU grad and a SCSU season ticket holder. When I told him I was a Sioux fan he said "Cool...someone else at work who hates the Gophers!" :D

    Instant friends.

  11. Is anyone else surprised that the goofs didn't have more hop in their step tonight?

Stoa's two goals were readily missed in the scoring, 6-1 instead of 6-3, but I was really expecting more from the goofer team than 1 PP goal late in the game. They came out working hard, but their intensity left the instant Kozek rifled his goal. I was expecting more like a 4-3 or 4-2(EN) game.

Not that I'm complaining mind you; I love to see the brown and yellow skate off with zero points from a weekend...it's a rare event and one to be cherished for a long, long time.

Sioux move up to #14 Krach...#18 PWR.

Still a ways to go...but this was a GREAT start!

    :D

  12. He's been dealing with headaches and fatigue, and many tests have still not shown what the underlying problem is. He had to stay back in the twin cities for more tests this weekend.

It would appear that his team is going to be headed home tomorrow in much the same condition!

Not to make light of Coach Lucia's condition....I certainly wish him a swift recovery.

  13. I hate making blind analysis, but can someone prove or disprove this theory:

This weekend's gopher woes are not on the shoulders of Kangas. UMN's team D is just nonexistant.

My premise for this is that, really, I can't remember the last time Minnesota had outstanding stay at home defense. All of their defensemen have been strong puck movers and solid in the offensive zone.

Fact...look at the shots on goal. Kangas faced a LOT of rubber last night...and he's already seen a bunch tonight. Not much defense from goldy, and that means not much offense either. The Sioux are running roughshod over the gophers both nights thus far.

    AND I LIKE IT!

  14. They just said the goofers are playing without stoa. Did he get thrown out, or was he injured? Sorry, I didn't see the whole game, and don't know what happened.

Stoa had to sit out with an injury. Got to love this Sioux team! And it's so great to see Kozek scoring again...the Rifleman is back!

  15. Solid first for the Sioux...nice to see them put up a couple of points in this one. Not as dominant as last night though I don't think the goofs are slack like they were last night. Perhaps the WJ players got a good nights sleep?
