  1. Clearly by "those guys" he meant guys from Minnesota who want to improve their game by working harder at hockey than they ever have in their lives, get some hardware in the WCHA, end their season in the NCAA tourney and have a career in the NHL. I guess we can be happy to get more of "those guys". The rest of the kids from Minnesota, they can wear the yellow and brown. :D

    Fighting Sioux rejects? :silly:

  2. No Gregoire and Hextall for Thursday, according to Brad...........will we ever really find out the story on those guys?

This will be a test for sure. At least Duluth is down two defensemen, but their top line will be intact. That is the line we have to neutralize, and then pick up some goals with our depth. Another solid game from Mr. Dell will go a long way to helping!

    GO SIOUX!!!

  3. I have signed up and paid for B2 3 times and it has never worked any of those time. i will never pay for them again. Have contacted them and never any reply back

I've never failed to get a B2 broadcast that I paid for. Even the follow up e-mail link.

That doesn't mean I'm not annoyed by the floating tiger head at CC though.

  4. There was an article at the Star tribune on the Junior team selections, and the reader banter included a non-UND fan who made the statement that UND hasn't sent anyone to the NHL lately, especially in the last 4 years. I thought of about 5 in the first minute, but It got me thinking how many Former Fighting Sioux are currently in the NHL. I suppose it's a little off topic, but do we have a link that has a list of current players and the year they left UND. I kept thinking there are very few colleges with the track record of developing NHL players better than the Sioux in the last 5 years.

    Does Frazee count?

He hasn't stepped on the ice in a New Jersey sweater yet, but the Sioux did send him to the pros...so to speak. Bina may have done it single-handed-ly.

  5. You're completly missing the point. The point is, you guys think it should be to Matt's advantage that he overcame problems when other athletes don't put themselves in a position to have to overcome the same situations Matt had to.

I think it's awesome Matt turned his life around the way he did. It's very commendable. I just think it's being assinine to the other athletes who never put themselves in those tough situations to say that Matt should have an advantage in Hobey voting because of what he managed to overcome.

Honestly, I don't think I said it should give him ANY advantage, other than now we know a bit more about how he handles adversity that he's brought into his own life. What I was really trying to say is that I don't feel that, in seeing what we've seen of his character in overcoming the obstacles he has, that ANY of these obstacles should count as a knock against him.

No advantage, no black mark either.

I don't think that slights any other athlete in the least.

  6. I disagree. How can you put Matt Frattin ahead of someone who NEVER made mistakes like he did, just because he overcame problems. I find that a bit disrespectful to the athletes that have kept their noses clean from day one.

Whether you make mistakes early in life or later in life isn't the question. The question is how you DEAL with the mistakes you make in life. It is a matter of character, and Mr. Frattin is showing a LOT of the right stuff. Oh yes, a kid who keeps his nose clean also shows the right character...but is his any better? Did Hobey Baker go through life without making any mistakes? Likely not. But ask yourself, if Hobey had found himself in Matt Frattin's shoes, which path would he follow?

Attitude, character, and great hockey skill are the attributes the Hobey committee look for. Not saying Matt Frattin is a shoe-in Hobey candidate beyond any out there this season, but he should certainly not be excluded by default because of the mistakes he has overcome.

  7. So you set it at 92 degrees west? What else do you get for feeds when you do that? Guess I will standing out in the cold a little more come January. Rather try that than the other route.

I can't say I "set" it for 92 deg. w., but rather "nudge" it to the west from the 91w position. And I figure the nudge is good for about 1 degree.

And it REALLY helps to communicate with someone inside the house when you 'nudge' as my dish is 200' away from the house. Running back and forth isn't a good option.

  8. I live in Twin Cities SW metro and have the same issue...PSB helped me point the dish to get it to 91w and then I fine tuned it during one of the football games to get a good signal...that being said, I haven't had JACK SQUAT for over a month...:(

Like me, you may have to 'tweak' every game. I have to run out with the cell phone and call someone inside who can tell me what the signal quality is while I tweak the dish. It's pretty sensitive, and doesn't take much to miss the spot. Pretty sure when I turn the system off at the end of the night and back on the next eve., the motor moves the dish back to 91w position (home position) and I lose my spot from the night before. If you have a fixed dish though, you shouldn't be having trouble once you make the adjustment.

FYI, I have the 90cm Hotdish.

  9. Every home game this year I have to tweak my dish 1 deg. W from the 91w position. Then I can get 70%+ signal and quality. Enjoyed a fine picture of tonight's broadcast.

The transponder must be off to the side of the satellite or something, I don't know, But I can tell you that when I'm pointed right at 91w I get zippo for signal, even though I see other channels on that satellite just fine.

  10. I don't know where you get your info but scoring 13 goals and having 25 points isn't "snakebit" in my book.

While Kristo has one goal for half the season. It is truly sad for a player of his suppose caliber after 15 goals last year.

Frattin clanged a lot of iron, and shot quite a few wide, that year before the flood gates opened.

  11. Hanging out with TJ Oshie and living with him all summer certainly didn't help his development.

In terms of? Goal scoring? Ok, maybe so. Stick handling? He's got hands as good as anyone on the team. Speed? He's got it and it shows. So yeah, he's in a slump and isn't hitting the corners of the net, and many times tries to do it all himself, but honestly I like the way he plays. His pass to Trupp on top of the crease at Mankato was a perfect play. He works hard on each shift, isn't afraid to go into the corner for the puck, and every time I see him get open with the puck I look for something good to happen. That will come. Mr. Frattin was snake-bit his sophomore year, and there have been many others over the years. If Danny Kristo continues to work hard good things will happen and, with some good fortune, those things will be happening in March and April.

  12. I was going through some newspapers and saw an article that I missed last week in the WSJ. Here is the online piece

There is no sport that even comes close to the speed, action and intensity of hockey. I think with the advent of HDTV and with 3D coming in behind it, college hockey will flourish.

There is a lot of potential to college hockey, for sure. Consider all the Big 8, Pac 10, and SEC schools that don't have hockey programs. I know there is some interest in the Northwest, and perhaps developing downward into California. Gaining programs on the West coast would really open things up.

  13. Great win for the Sioux. Had to play gritty and finish. MacWilliam with a great save, and Chay with a gritty pk finish in the 3rd after getting drilled by the puck.

Looking forward to hearing the goofy/dawg score...

Great weekend for the Fighting Sioux!

Now let's get healthy and go on a second-half tear!

Edit: Duluth and UM tie. Duluth comes away from The John with 1 point.

    :silly:

  14. Well this sucks. The channel that is listed as showing MSU vs North Dakota is actually showing St Cloud vs CC

Well something's weird. I figured the game started at 7:00 tonight because that's what the TV guide listed. Who knows what's going on.

B2 says the game is at 7:37.
