  1. SOG 11-3 in the 3rd period

Total shots on goal: 39-15 in favor of the Sioux.

A great game for the Fighting Sioux indeed. Holding St. Could to 15 SOG is a defensive clinic, and great to see the team hitting the net hard and putting in the rebounds.

I think we are starting to see this team get up to speed.

Six goals per game, It's all I ask. ;-)

That will make Mr. Dell's job that much easier.

    GO SIOUX!!!

  2. I had it at 50-60% then I tried to "tweak" my dish and lost signal completely. Last week was great tonight nothing. It scanned in right away now I can't find it at all. Hopefully better tomorrow.

I had 71-71 % and in period 3 about 12 min mark things started going bad, so I went out to clear snow (plenty on the dish) then came back in, zippo. Couldn't find it again. Fortunately the internet didn't let me down! :silly:

  3. Which is NOT happening. EVER.

    ;-)

It may well not. But it's fun to dream. Nice thing about this team is the depth. There are a number of line options even with two key players set aside.

Hopefully Hextall will mend quickly and completely, and Gregoire is able to play.

  4. We are a much better team with Gregoire and Hexy in the lineup, however, we have guys who can step up...

I'd put the following lines together:

    Knight with Kristo and Rodwell

    Malone with Trupp and Frattin

    Nelson with Cichy and Rowney

    Lammy with Davidson and Bruno

I do hope that Gregoire can play...

If we are short Messers Gregoire and Hextall the following lines may be more advantageous:

    Trupp <> Malone <> Frattin

    Kristo <> Knight <> Genoway

    Cichy <> Nelson <> Rodwell

Rowney <> Lameroux <> Bruneteau (or Gleason)

which gives us a d corps of

    Blood - Forbort

    Lapoint - Marto

    MacWilliam - Simpson

Moving Chay up to forward opens more options 5x5, imho.

  5. So... I was wondering.... what will satisfy people around here? :D

A long series of home and road sweeps, followed by a MacNaughton Cup, Broadmore Trophy, and National Championship.

    Hey, you asked...

  6. They played well enough to win against a ranked team. The goon has a video on his site that clearly shows the tying goal was a bad call.

Bad call or not, the GTG was awarded and the GWG did NOT happen. Had they been able to bury one more opportunity the Sioux would have "played well enough to win". I'm not trying to nitpick here, just saying that the game includes the calls that don't go your way. The Fighting Sioux had plenty more power play minutes than the gold-hats and still came away with a tie, even gave up a shortie and had over two minutes of PP time in OT. So no...good enough to win wasn't there, imho.

This team has enough firepower to score six goals per game. Why they sometimes don't still mystify's me, but because they have shown that on occasion, I think they'll pull it together and soon we'll see five and six goal games more often. Hopefully they are working shooting drills in practice so we can avoid trying to dent the opposing goalie's brisket so much each game.

JBSU is currently NOT a top twenty team, and the Fighting Sioux cannot afford to make them look like one. They will need to get the puck deep and bury their chances, and come away with 4 where Omaha did not. Plain and simple.

    GO SIOUX!!!

  7. This weekend is a 4-point must.

    4 point MUST. Agreed.

I have a good feeling about next weekend. Aaron Marvin will be bringing his team to town, and there will be Blood on the ice.

    What can go wrong? ;)

But seriously, I think this is the weekend we'll see Mr. Kristo break the seal and unleash the floodwaters. He's due.

    GO SIOUX!!!

  8. Two defensemen in the line-up coming off bouts with mono (Forbort, AndyMac).

Gleason (defenseman) in as the fourth line right wing.

That's called "just in case" ...

Yes it is. Insurance against the "Checking too hard" five minute major and game DQ.

  9. is there commentary with the b2network?

Yes, it will be a streamed version of a local broadcast. So prepare for the homer announcer.

    OR

Turn down the volume on that media player, and open up Tim H. on another browser session and listen there. Only works if the two are sync'd time wise tho...

But TH is a great announcer to listen to.

  10. It is VERY good to see MacWilliam back in the lineup.

Hopefully B.E. has given Hak a reason in practice to give him another shot. He has certainly been able to see that Dell is capable of the job.

    This is Brad's shot.

The way the defense played last weekend, he has a better than average chance. If they play with the same proficiency tonight and tomorrow that they did both nights in Madison, Sioux sweep.

    :silly:

    GO SIOUX!!!

  11. For a hockey goalie, I always understood that there a several kinds of saves: the pad save, the stick save, the glove save, the skate save, the blocker save, and of course, the metallurgy save.

There is also the very common brisket save, and the very awkward mask save. But regarding pipes...not every ding of the metal means a goal not scored. Thankfully, sometimes.

  12. Your fans are making way to big a deal about the cow bells. People don't shake them the whole game. Just when UNO does something good. Which I hope is quite often :D:D:D

It will not be the first time someone playing the Fighting Sioux has had their bell rung. :D

  13. It's fun to watch the students "interact" with the fellows in the penalty box, too.

Traditional Farce territory. A time-honored tradition of needling d-bags like Ethier among many others.

    Home ice advantage indeed.

"Who's she? She sucks!" <<<I miss that one at every home game I attend.

  14. You are correct.

That was a great game to be at.

Hearing all the Sioux fans cheering after the OT goal as all the Badger fans sat in stunned silence was glorious. :D

That was a sweet win to attend. The badger fans around us had been pretty abusive that night, especially the bearded lady.

  15. If Rowney has a concussion, was it caused by Bennett's flying elbow? If so (and that's a lot of ifs), where's the outrage? Malone's hit had a terrible outcome, but elbow and stick were down, feet were on the ice. From what I recall of Bennett's hit, he was off the ice, and he led with the elbow. Were they considering a suspension for an intentional hit to the head?

Now, if Rowney's injury has nothing to do with that hit, in the immortal words of Emily Litella, "Nevermind."

Would love to see a video of that hit. Anyone have one?

To answer other questions...State Street Brats (603 State St.) is a good Sioux hangout before a game in MadTown.

  16. I wouldn't be surprised. This is the WCHA and the Buffoon's that run the League don't care about perception, they can't even get their officials to call the game per the rule book. The NCAA comes out with point of emphasis on obstruction and they go the opposite way.

McClown is obviously waiting until Papa Shep has his INCH picks done.

  17. I'm surprised that Gleason didn't get in with Forbort out.....Gleason could turn into a Fienhage/David Toews, and be on his way out.

If Chay wasn't back this year he'd be playing every game. We'll see a LOT more of him next season, I'm sure. And, the year is young. Injuries may give him the opportunity he needs (not that I'm in favor of injuries). It is a luxury to have someone like him ready to play when we need his talents.
