  1. ...The measure of Hak as a coach will be can he get it done with a more "average" talent club

We did see encouraging signs of that a couple years back when we couldn't fill a roster for much of the second half of the season. A lot of freshies getting much more time on the ice than they would have otherwise. There was still a good second half surge, resulting in a tournament berth and loss to the goph's in the regional final. This after the six-goal comeback over the same Gophers at the Final Five. Did this club qualify as 'average' talent? Maybe not, because it had some great players on the ice making things happen...but it also had a lot of lunchpail down low and a coach who wouldn't let them quit when they could have easily bagged the season in February. Not sayin' it was 'Miracle' coaching, but I was proud to watch that team play with the heart they did. All that said, I expect more from this team, this season, especially if they can stay healthy.

  2. That's what I saw too watching the webcast with Miami's version of Dan Hammer calling the play by play. I always thought Dan Hammer was the worst commentator for hockey ever....at least until I heard this guy.

Anyway, I degress, I would sure like to hear some sort of NCHC explanation of the penalty review. The fans were chanting "Bull S***!" and everyone was getting ready for a faceofff in the Miami end. Then the year long review and we had a penalty. I must say, thus far, I am not to impressed with NCHC officiating.

Get a copy of an old game with Jim Adelson announcing, or maybe Boyd Christiansen. Hammer is a cut above both of them. Good folks, all, pro UND and sports minded, just not the best hockey announcers out there. Give me Tim H. with Tim O'K. any day.

  3. For those still struggling with watching webcasts on an android device because the premium nulion app isn't available, there is a solution. Go to the Google app store and purchase (for $2.99) the Puffin web browser app. This browser supports flash natively, and you can login to the UNDsports.com/insider page and view all content. There may be other flash-enabled browsers that work without paying three bucks, but I find Puffin to be a fully functioning and decent browser. It works on my droid phone, and tablet.

    Go SIoux!

  4. Correct. Android app coming soon, but not ready yet. You should, however, be able to watch on your Android through your web browser.

My android's browser kicks me to the Google store to download the premium app, which is not ready. No way to browse the site and watch Nulion content on my tablet. The premium app would be much appreciated.

PC viewing via firefox was fine this weekend, with one freeze at 8:28 in the third on Friday, one at the first period horn on Saturday, and another during the second period intermission Saturday.

  5. When is the last time you saw a potential BC vs BU or BC vs UNH match-up in a regional final?

But North Dakota vs Denver or North Dakota vs Minnesota? You can take that one to the bank almost every year.

Last one I remember was 2005 when UND was in that bracket and beat BU 6-0, then BC 6-3 to win the Beanpot and head to the FF. Has there been one since?

  6. and in st. paul we had to play minny, green bay we had to play denver, wisconsin in madison and du in colorado springs. who from hockey east has bc had to play in their region in the last five years-no one. the teams from the west get screwed when it comes to this and teams from the east get pampered to ensure they have the easiest route to the frozen four.

Yeah, fine. Guess what? It's playoff time. Put 'em through the zamboni doors anyway.

Pampered or not, the backs are too the wall and it's time to light the lamp early and often.

I don't care who we play, or where. It's playoff hockey. 'Nuff said. Win one game, then win the next one.
