Higher seed might get the West Regional home ice. It would be nice to skate the regional at the Xcel center.
-
? A St. Cloud loss would have flipped us over them in the PWR, methinks.

The heat is officially on, I suspect.

Absolutely agree with your points in #2. The officiating this weekend was sub standard even for Shep/Walsh. And those calls on Gersich were all mysterious. If you can call that interference, then why look past all the clutching, slashing and tackling. Props to WMU for using their size and playing gritty, but there were several instances of completely ignored non-calls by the refs. Not the first time we've seen this, and it won't be the last. As to playing WMU in REA four games straight, if that happens I hope the ice masters at REA keep that ice-sheet hard and fast. Speed is our advantage, we should use it.

Gophers beat by a team filled with players the goofers didn't ever consider recruiting. Priceless. Well done Beavers. Mavericks, you're on deck!

WM is a big, slow team but they played really hard tonight after getting rocked by St. Cloud last week. The ice looked soft, and that makes it hard for us to come up with any breakouts. Being down top players kept us on our heels with mixed lines and Stecher out in the third. Gardner also sat a bit of the third, but was out there to win some faceoffs. Gritty road win, all in all. The team did what it took to win. Simo set up a great Gersich goal, and Brock sniped one when it counted. Six points on the road is a good weekend any time. GO SIOUX!!

Agreed. Scoring spreads across three lines tonight. 6-0 and a SWEEP! GO SIOUX!!!

Yep. Just not a big game coach. Hasn't won a natty since 2000.

UND FIGHTING HAWKS @ Western Mich - FRIDAY Gameday

Agreed. Team D was decent, with some great back checks, especially in the second. Wanted more offense tonight, but with the mixed lines it makes sense that the score was low and it took the sniper to put it away. 3 points in hand. Let's come back and get 3 more tomorrow night! GO SIOUX!!! -
Hope the Western Mich announcers leave the mic open between periods again. Always fun to listen in.

Pretty sure he's not a righty.

UND FIGHTING HAWKS vs. CC Tigers - SATURDAY Gameday

It is hard not to enjoy the ride. Now turn to Friday night, on the road. Western is coming off a pair of trips to the woodshed in St. Cloud. They will be hungry. I trust Bubs and his crew to get this team prepared and show up in Kalamazoo ready to play. Go SIOUX!!! -
I was assuming that too, but wanted to be sure. Cam came into the game with the best netminder stats in the country. If he fights the puck one night (and clearly he had an off-night tonight) I think you have to get him back up on the horse tomorrow. Let him show why those pipes should be his.
-
L Johnson's two goals weren't enough? Or are you talking about Cam?
-
Never mind. Forget I mentioned it.

Black bears go on a penalty parade in the last two minutes, give up the lead. Going to OT. No score in OT. Goes in the books as a tie.

After one weekend I'm not willing to go up skywriting and spell out "UND's powerplay is lights out", but I was favorably impressed with the 50% tally for the weekend's power play efforts. That and you are spot on about our PK...we are committed on the kill and a shorty threat to boot, always a great combination. Faceoffs? Yeah. We need help there for sure. Here's to keeping that 50% PP pace going through another weekend.
-
Keep the foot on the gas for the full 120 minutes and blow them out of the zamboni doors. This is NOT the time to sit back and think you have six points in hand. Go get 'em!
-
We took Don Adam to the NCHC, along with Mike Schmidt and Todd Anderson. We even take two Shep's part time, along with Timm Walsh. That's all we're willing to do. :-) You're on your own with Papa Shep.

UND Fighting Hawks vs. UNO Mavericks - SATURDAY Gameday

IF...Caggs has a collarbone issue, that's 6 weeks. Hope he's not dealing with anything that serious. He's also the leading NCAA "games played" Senior and I'd like to see him keep that going. -

UND is not a one line team. Omaha is. And they missed their tendy tonight, for sure. That diving is hard to watch...we'll have to keep an eye out for that when we travel to the cow palace. -

Where did Blais learn it? Playing for minny, of course. -

Yeah, the NCHC feed is brutal. Somewhere is a digital camera filming a TV playing the Direc-TV feed and re-broadcasting. Lousy picture, and worse bandwidth. -

Let's see how this team responds when they realize that they would have just ended their season if this were a NCAA regional. I'm looking for some feet constantly moving tonight, and much better puck protection. GO SIOUX!!! -

Also agree with this. Our compete level was much lower than it was vs. Duluth or Denver. We were lacking jump for the better part of 54 minutes.
