  1. Based on his results, I don't think there's any way to make a legitimate argument for firing Hakstol. That would be setting the bar for a coach extremely high and basically saying that national championships are the only standard. If they'd never been close under Hakstol that's one thing, but that isn't the case. With the increasing level of parity in college hockey it's just not realistic. That having been said, he's definitely developed a disturbing pattern of not being able to get the team ready for the NCAA tournament. It's just too obvious to ignore. It's seems like the Hakstol teams just kind of show up and that's about it. Some years that's good enough to win a couple games and some years it's not. In coachspeak and press conferences you're always going to hear that they have great respect for their opponent and they don't take anyone lightly, but their performance on the ice doesn't reflect that. It reflects a team that isn't well prepared and thinks talent and reputation are going to be enough to win. This Yale game wasn't a situation where they just ran into a hot goalie or caught some bad bounces. Yale carried the play and outshot the Sioux in every period. I'd be curious to know what kind of actual game planning Hakstol does for some of these games. Admittedly I have no idea, because I'm not in the locker room. But, the old cliche 'we need to play our game' is just that, a stupid cliche. You need to play the game that is going to give you the best opportunity to beat the team you're playing. There are different game plans for every opponent. I know it's difficult in the tournament with the time constraints and the uncertainity of who you'll be playing after the first game, but that isn't a good enough excuse to be unprepared. My dream scenario would be for Blais to return, but I'm realistic and know that will never happen. If he were to ever leave UNO for another college team it would likely be MN. Outside of Hakstol leaving on his own accord, I think we are many years away from UND potentially making a change.
  2. Wow, that's cool, when did this start? Midco definitely didn't have ESPN3 around this time last year. I'm not as worried about the tv schedule now.
  3. It's just amazing all of the fights "poor" Alex finds himself in. Type his name into YouTube. He must be the unluckiest bastard ever. Get real, guy.
  4. Lighten up a little man. It's just a hockey fight.
  5. Is there a video of this fight anywhere?

  9. Word is it's more than his feet. Hands and face as well. I think this one is a season ender folks, likely a career ender. He would not be in Mpls if this wasn't very serious. Passed out in the snow. Not good.
  10. Did they end up selling out all of them when they were selling them last time around? If so, does anyone have two extras they would like to sell? Thanks.
  11. Eidsness was weak this weekend that for sure, but the defensive puck handling and breakouts were the difference. It sounds obvious, but we are SORELY missing Genoway. We might literally have two more or more wins on record with him in the liineup. It's not just his play on the ice that makes the difference it's his effect on everyone else, notably the other d men. When we have Blood and LaPointe out there trying to do too much it's trouble. Tons of sloppy passes and turnovers. Our defensemen when out of their comfort zone are not able to break the puck out, period. I don't care if it's a 5-3, 5-4, even strength, whatever. It becomes I got I got, you take it. When Kristo is on the ice it confuses them even more. LaPointe and others on several occasions this weekend just determine that the second they touch the puck they are going to find a way to get it to Kristo no matter what. Kind of sad to watch. How much time was wasted on the power play this weekend trying to figure out a way to get the puck out of our own end? We need some defenseman that are capable of handling the puck effectively and I'm not sure we have one other than Genoway. That said, I think it's time that Genoway gives it the old college try (no pun intended). Pop an aspirin or two and suit up. If it doesn't work it doesn't work. AT
  12. Jail is the answer when you violate the terms of your sentence. He's a junkie. Junkies sometimes get an opportunity to get themselves right, outside of jail, via programs. When they f up they go to jail. He has ample resources and I'm sure he's been given the benefit of the doubt above and beyond what lower class individuals would expect in his same situation. Not a ton of sympathy for the guy. The slammer for 12-18 months is probably the best thing for him at this point. His career is over, but maybe it would scare him straight. If not then he'll just be a common junkie.
  13. Just checking, are there any of Toews' UND goals online anymore? I searched on youtube with every search criteria I could come up with and all I get are his NHL videos. I know RedFrog posts tons of UND stuff on youtube, but I was kind of miffed that I could only find one or two of JT's UND goals. AT
  14. I heard some statistics a while back about American Indian physicians in the United States. It was something like 25%+ were UND grads. Does anyone have a link to the figures on the free rides UND gives to Indians at the school or any other pertinent stats of Indian graduates from UND? If the name gets changed I don't see any realistic reason why Indians should continue to get free rides at UND just by virtue of being born with their ethnicity. It maybe sounds callous, but I don't care. Frankly I never agreed with Indians getting free schooling in the first place, but especially not if we lose the nickname. In my perfect world we just spell it out to the tribes that the programs die with the nickname.
  15. I feel honored we made such an impression on Rizzo. Funny thing is we were being relatively mild last weekend. This has to be her first road game.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QHe_QkklSg&NR=1 Talk about close talking. I thought Dean and Gino's noses were going to touch for a second there. Makes me uncomfortable just watching it. AT
