  1. That is true, some conferences with odd-numbered teams either have play-in games or eliminate the last place team, so I guess not every single team has a chance. But I guess the counter to that would be if you're not good enough to even MAKE IT to your CONFERENCE tournament, you have no right to be considered for the national tournament. Anyway, I like the NCAA Tournament the way it is, I'd like to see it stay at 65-68 teams, but if they change it...whatever...it'll still be better then the FBS mess.
  2. Actually all but one conference gives their tournament champion the automatic bid (30 of them to be exact), the Ivy League still gives the auto berth to their regular season champion. So in essence every team in the country, even if they haven't won a game all year, has a shot come tourney time to make the field of 65, and with that a chance to win the National Championship. Based on that alone, I don't see any reason to give anybody who cannot get an at-large bid another chance when they already had their last ditch chance in the conference tournament. But, and I know this is getting old, it's all about the $$money$$ for the NCAA, and if more teams pencils out to more cash, it will probably happen.
  3. And you would think the prospect of all that exposure and $$$$$$$$$$ would be alluring to the NCAA, that's what they're really after bottom line.
  4. Problem is they will never go with any playoff that does not involve the Bowl games somehow, that's why I think a 4 team playoff AFTER the Bowls would be more likely to be approved, and the top 4 Bowl games should be the #1-8 teams, then there should be no undefeated teams left out. Of course, the Rose Bowl would screw up that system because of their Pac 10/Big 10 deal, so there would be problems there too. At this point, I would go with almost anything they proposed.
  5. She was 4th when I voted, now I see up to 3rd!
  6. It would make for a better 2nd round no doubt, but would you really watch the 1st round to see if the 11th place Big East team can beat the Champion of a conference you've hardly ever heard of? I honestly don't think I would, I just wouldn't care that much unless it was a team that I followed. I guess the argument is you should want the best teams to have a shot at the championship, but the great thing about the Big Dance is seeing those Snow White underdogs find their way into the Sweet 16, and adding another round will probably make it almost impossible for a small school to get to that point. But like I said, it's really all about the money.
  7. Yeah, you're probably right.
  8. I would honestly have to be against that, I don't think there's ever been a #16 seed beating a #1 seed, and not many #15's beating #2's, so I don't think it would really add any credibility to the tourney to add another 30 teams who really don't deserve to be there in the first place just for the sake of making a few bucks. Oh wait...I forgot it's all about the money... I guess that would be the end of the NIT also huh?
  9. I wonder how many Bison fans cringe every time he opens his mouth?
  10. Gregoire Friday Kristo Saturday
  11. Hee hee...I see Sioux Falls is now rated higher than Notre Dame, putting "Call Notre Dame Fans" on my to-do list for tomorrow. I love days like this. P.S. Good luck in the NAIA title game. Sioux Falls should handle them, they needed a last minute drive to beat Carroll, and Carroll isn't nearly the team they have been the last few years.
  12. I notice the posting time on this was 2:00 AM, probably conjured up by a few students sitting at Perkins with a laptop after all other entertainment was completed for the night. As the law enforcement agencies like to say "Alcohol was a contributing factor."
  13. But spin they will, and spew their usual garbage about how a playoff system will "cheapen" the Bowl games. I've just about resigned myself to the fact that I'll never see a true FBS Football playoff series, but why can't they do this: Play all the Bowl games like they do now, and have the 4 games with National Championship implications play on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Then take the winners of those 4 games and have them play the semifinals either the next Saturday/Sunday evenings after the NFL playoffs, or during the week sometime. Then play the TRUE National Championship game whenever they see fit, again after the NFL playoffs or during the week. That way it wouldn't "cheapen" their Bowl games and we would have a true champion, plus they would have 3 more televised paydays. I personally hope there is 4 undefeated teams, just to put a little more egg on their faces. *END OF RANT
  14. Hey, at least I got one guy here cheering with me!
  15. Here's the bottom line from Hak himself..."we need to find a killer instinct and start putting teams away", which to me means keep putting pressure on and scoring so things like a bad call or a bad break or a great play by your opponent only gets them closer, not sends it to OT or loses it. And as far as your last comment, I will be there in the spring whether we're playing good or bad, and unlike you who apparently looks at the team through rose-colored glasses and sees all rainbows and candy canes, I'll be looking at things a little more realistically because I guarantee if this team doesn't figure out how to close out games with a lead there will be another New Hampshire around the bend come tournament time.
  16. You can't go into the 3rd with a lead and start playing "not to lose" instead of aggressively, haven't we learned anything from watching the "prevent" defense in football? There's no reason we should feel worried when we have a 2 goal lead going into the 3rd.
  17. I guess you're right, that one didn't count.
  18. Falling apart with a 2 goal lead in the 3rd again, have to find some killer instinct in these guys. That's 3 points left on the table in 2 weeks.
  19. Damn again with the 3rd period blues...
  20. Well, this is when we've struggled lately, early in the third. Need to come out strong, next goal is huge.
  21. Maybe this will be one of those blow-up nights for him, didn't we hang 6 or 8 on him recently?
