Looking back at the last 9 years since BB has arrived. I think the message is be smart, be careful, puck protection. It might be a conservative approach to try and protect the lead. But look at third period performances since they all scream this approach. Not a bad approach but not an inspiring one either. I remember in 97 I think that team had 4 or 5 third periods of 5 goals or more. Just a difference.

It's a one goal game against arguably one of the most talented teams in the country. 2 goals was not going to win it. Keep attacking don't stop. Don't just be satisfied with "winning " go piss pound someone and don't stop until the final horn. It was 16 years between the last titles. We are 8 years removed from that one. By 2008 UND had 12 NCAA wins, 5 Frozen Fours and two title game appearances. UND as we all know has 1 NCAA tournament win in these 8 years.

These teams like Union, Yale, Providence and QU just to name some 15 years ago were teams you were hoping to play in the tournament as they were a cakewalk to the next round. Now it seems like anyone can win and the proverbial cakewalk doesn't exist anymore(unless it is UND).

I said it before these players are different than they were 10-15 years ago. The deep pride and jump on my back and I will lead you isn’t there. UND is just a stepping stone to the pros and how fast can I get there and if UND can't help me I will go somewhere else. The name on the back is far more important than the one on the front.

Parity was just starting to set in when Hak left. Teams like Yale, Providence and Union were starting to get players they never would have a decade or two ago and win. Some of Haks teams would have been buried by Jan and never recovered to make the tournament today.
