Crap. We look like crap.

I remember watching that game in my basement and when the game was over, I just sat there in disbelief looking at my TV... I think I sat there for like two hours staring at the TV. My wife came down stairs and said, you going to ever come out of the basement? That loss sucked because that team was one of the Best UND had had for a while.
I'll never forget that game. One of the major "WTF just happened" moments in the new Ralph era. Adam Berkhoel stole that one from us, no doubt. (He also stole the NC from Maine that year, IIRC)

Groan...wasn't Backes on the Maverick team that swept the Sioux in Mankato?
Ugh - Backes was a retarded douche.
(sorry - I couldn't resist dragging this thread down to the level of the other...)

If you really think about it, the chances of UND and Minnesota being put in the same regional in the playoffs in the next 4 years. They like to keep teams close to home....so I think that the chances of them playing each other are better than people think.
And the NCAA likes money too - guaranteed regional sellout. I agree we'll see it before 2017.

I literally LOL'ed at your signature airmail, good work.
Thanks.
Uploaded it this morning, and already got 3 nasty texts from SU and UM buddies. (and they say they don't spend time on our board.... )

favorite moment in this rivalry? easy.
That's a peach - but this one is one of my favorites of recent times...
-
I predict a split. UND tonight in a close one (because I won't be near a tv ) and gophs tomorrow in a not so close one.
I also predict two major penalties called on UND. One legit, one not. I also predict jaw flapping by the maroon squad with no intention to back it up. I also predict DS will be officiating, and will tick off both fan bases at some point.
(granted - these last predictions are like shooting fish in a barrel)
God I hate gopher hockey. Crush 'em Sioux!
-
Use the next four years to sober up a bit before UMN's schedule has some openings for UND and the teams get back on the ice together (in Minneapolis).
Nice subtle hint at where the rivalry must resume... I think you've been hanging around too many bison knuckleheads in Fargo.
Aside - your posts beg the question: How long have you followed the Sioux/ Gopher hockey rivalry? It seems as if for not very long... as tnt pointed out, the rivalry is much healthier than it used to be.
And if you're a gopher fan living in Fargo - please sell or give up your UND season tickets. They are tainted, and bring bad karma to the Ralph.

I predict an 87 white vs. 07 swift final. That's gonna be a tough decision!
Kudos for setting this up - pretty cool!
-
I agree though, if UND's pass offense stays prolific, then a .500 record should be obtainable.
If we go .500 or similar next year, I'm going to hate to see how low the level of interest in UND football gets. It'll be ugly.
-
It'll be interesting to see how the Big Sky teams fare against the other conferences - Right now, I think Montana St. and EWU have a shot, but I guess we'll see soon enough how they stack up.
A Bison loss in the first round would also be cool.

Muss just said on radio they didnt have a play ready and sneak was easiest thing to call and line up for..
Also said ge would for sure kick the fg if he had to make the decision again.Shocker.
Basically zeb was pleading with him to tale the fg and the coaches didnt have confidence in him ti hit itI thought the Russian gangsters were going to take Zeb's pub away from him if he made the field goal, ala "The Replacements".

GeauxSioux... I understand your point with the third down play, but I disagree at the point it was in the game. IMO, a 5yd screen (God help me...I'm calling for the bubble screen) for a first down is a higher percentage play, and helps with field position when a field goal wins the game. If we needed a touchdown to win, I guess i'd agree with the shot downfield. In this case, I guess i'll agree to disagree. I thought it was a poor call given the game circumstances.
Either way, season is over... I had hoped we'd make the playoffs, and was truly expecting over .500 in the conference. Someone start the 2013 outlook thread, please.

Speechless over those last plays. Shocked and pissed.
-
I have no dog in this fight - but I'm cheering for the Sioux!
-
It may sound callous, but we just can't stop anybody. Our defense - simply - is not good.
That's not a knock on players that have given their time and represented UND to the best of their abilities - it's a statistical fact.
Who knows - maybe this is the week they turn it around. Heck - I'll bet UNDER the 540.

Never in my life would I expect to type in huge numbers for UND after what we used to score. Now it seems like 40+ in every game is reasonable.
On both sides of the ball, unfortunately.
-
Very telling stats, Matt. Ugly.
Maybe with our lackluster offense in past years, the recruiting focus has been too much on the offensive side of the ball? Whatever it is - our defense royally sucks at this level.
If you take our SD Mines cupcake out of the equation, opponents are getting about 500yds/ game total offense against us. WTF?
-
Anyone thing UND is too caught up in hiring institutionalised coaches? I know its great to have former players on the staff and all but it seems like we go a bit overboard. Maybe we miss out on some good ones just to keep a familiar face.
Absolutely. I like promoting from within if the person is qualified, but some new blood would be nice once in a while.
If you can't teach an old dog new tricks, get a new dog for crying out loud.

Same likely goes for any law enforcement organization, certainly at the federal level... as well as the US intelligence community, including contractors. Stupid mistakes can be costly.
If they keep clean, the charges are expunged from their record. So they could possibly become SU campus cops one day.
...sober up from their Prestone martinis a bit...
Don't know why, but I find this comment absofrickinlutely hilarious.
Prestone.

Simple perspective: UNA and the Griz will both run for 250+ on us with our D playing the run as it is. Those are 2 home games that are far from a lock. And we have to go play the Cats. Tough to gauge our chance in any game left if UND doesn't clean up defensively.
Yep, yep, yep and especially yep.
-
Outstanding passing attack versus a poor pass defense... hmmm.
Any way we can score 70 on their defense?
