  1. Not to be a stickler, OK, to be a stickler, UND's official green color-shade is Pantone 347 in the Pantone color matching system.

See bottom of page in this link: http://www.und.edu/dept/our/html/logosPrint.html#5

I think they should have at least waited with the uniforms until the budget allowed them to have matching helmets.

Have to agree with the first poster on the topic - that jersey color is terrible, and to have a helmet in yet a different color looks just stupid.

  2. Yeah I posted that yesterday, but apparently nobody pays attention when I post anything. Oh well.

Except he's not going to be dropping the puck, just so you all know.

He's not dropping the puck... (for those of you that ignore BudLight) :)

  3. Wow! The Sioux pretty much owned the Gophers tonight. And it was a pleasure being in attendance watching the Gophers get dominated. I'll give it to them though that they did show some life in the 3rd and almost looked like they were going to turn things around but the Sioux didn't let that happen.

When Kangas got the call to be bench he skated off and threw his stick down the hallway in complete frustration as he headed towards the locker room. Quite enjoyable to see .

And I gotta say Hextall is nicely filling in Prpich's old job of getting under opponents skin.

Let's show up tomorrow with the same intensity and sweep these Gophers!

Agreed on all counts... absolutely kicked their butts for 2.5 periods. I'm wishing we could have scored the 4-5 goals that were on a silver platter in the first, but I'm still very happy.

Tomorrow is a new game... let's go Sioux!

  4. Hello everyone; I wanted to share that some autographed Sioux stuff will be auctioned tonight. The benefit is for "Sox for Kids." This is the 20th year of the event. The auction was supposed to be last Saturday night, but was postponed to tonight because of the storm. (I know, Thursdays aren't great, but it was the only night available)

    Auction Items:

    Team autographed Sioux jersey

    Team autographed Sioux football

Along with these, there are a bunch of other things too: baked goods, framed art, a tv, a guitar, farm toys, all kinds of stuff.

The auction starts at 5:00 at the Thompson Community Center. (tonight!) It will go until whenever... must be 21 to attend. Food and drink will be available.

Sox for kids started in 1989, in Northwood. Basically, SfK identifies underpriviledged children in our area, with the help of local school districts. Those kids are given a chaperoned "shopping trip" to buy Christmas presents. (the GF K-Mart closes their store every year for this event... they are wonderful to work with) What usually happens, is the kids buy gifts for their families instead of themselves! Our goal is to get $100 for each child... we usually have about 500 children.

The Thompson Mens Club and Sox for Kids appreciates your support, and hopes to see you tonight in Thompson!

    Thanks!!!!!

  5. The defense is not getting any pressure on the QB. He had all day, and definitely could have eaten us up with #8. Along with the defensive gripes, we can hit but it seems like we can't tackle. Frustrating.

Popcorn is kind of expensive. Eat at tailgating, and eat at tailgating again after the game.

  6. Unfortunately, your assessment may very well be correct.

While I'm sure we can come up with a list of 30 or more players who were great, how many of them turned down offers at the peak of their stock to return to UND? Very few I would guess.

Duncan maybe isn't the greatest (or second greatest) player to wear the sweater, I won't argue that. But his work ethic, personality, and loyalty will earn a place for him among or above all of the greatest Sioux players.

I think we're much better off having him back than not!

  7. Givign BC the credit that they are due, I don't think it would have mattered who our opponent was. Thursday's Sioux team was not, IMO, going to win that day. Versus BC, Miami, or any handful of the contending tournament teams... I think we would have gotten beat.

  8. I am a little up in the air about tickets being available outside the arena at a decent price. This was easily the most difficult time we have had arranging tickets to the Frozen Four in the past few years. Michigan has a huge following, and I am anticipating that Notre Dame will have a big following. We all know no one follows BC.

Agreed. Last year we were able to get our FF tickets through the Fighting Sioux Club. I reserved again this year, but still haven't gotten the call and have pretty much given up hope.

Last year in St. Louis, we could have got tickets outside the door easily. From what I've seen so far, I'm really not sure how it would work out. Definitely more demand this year, it seems.

(anyone gotten the FSC ticket call yet?)

  9. I'm only a little ashamed of myself for this, but yeah, having to practice at Purpur or anywhere else might be good for this team. I'm surprised at how nonchalant the Sioux can be some times, and two, maybe two-and-a-half period of Sunday's game, most of the team simply had a great seat for a hockey game. I don't know what Hakstol (or one of the captains) said after the second, but FINALLY the boys showed up and played up to their abilities.

This is a special hockey team; maybe a champion team, but they can't take a period or two off like they did tonight. Like they did against DU in St. Paul.

A win's a win, but other than Turris, this Wisconsin team has nothing close to the talent UND boasts, and the Badgers almost won the regional.

Skate sixty minutes a game in Denver boys.

    My thoughts exactly. Frustrating.

  10. I've seen a few posts about him playing next season, and thought I'd share some experience with this type of injury.

As I found out the "wrong way" a couple of years ago, a skull fracture heals very slowly. In my case, I was told that it would take at least a year for the fracture to "close up" completely, IF it ever completely does. Many times the fracture location remains not 100% healed. Couple that with all of the potential side-effects, (everything from balance to senses to memory) I don't know if he'll be taking full contact on the ice in 7 months. That said, I hope he plays again as soon as he is able. This injury really sucks.

  11. I was thinking abou that too... especially during the "senior skate" Sunday night. If he was ill, I'd like to think that he really took one for the team knowing he wasn't 100%.

If he was a healthy scratch... I guess I'm dissapointed a bit. But I'm not qualified to make the roster, even though I like to pretend.

  12. Yeah, but only from that part of Minnesota that lies northerly and westerly of a line commencing at the Minnesota/North Dakota border at the point commonly known as Wahpeton/Breckenridge, thence northerly following Hwy 75 a distance of approximately 117 miles to that point commonly known as Crookston, Minnesota, thence easterly along a line following Hwy 2 a distance of approximately 250 miles to that point commonly known as Duluth, Minnesota and there terminating.

Ummm... are you by chance a surveyor?
