  1. Actually, I think co-coordinators are more prevalent than maybe you realize. During USC's successful run, after Norm Chow left, Steve Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin were co-OC's and I believe they had some success together. That's just one example off the top of my head. I agree with you, those are sobering stats. However, if you put Digger Anderson, Tim Tibesar, Travis O'neel, or Eric Schmidt on this defense, I believe those stats would change dramatically. All I'm saying is that we don't have those types of players on our D this year. Players abilities will have a big effect on how successful coordinators are. The Huskers absolutely ate the K-State defense alive this week with a simple inside/outside zone blocking scheme. I think Tim had a good gameplan for inside zone. Your original query in this thread was "what should we do about the coordinator situation on defense". My answer is nothing. I think we need to have better players who can execute the game plan properly. My shot at you and bin were in good-natured fun. Just telling you my opinion on it. Maybe we just agree to disagree. No hard feelings.
  2. I have a great idea. How about the defensive players execute the game plan and their individual responsibilities to the extent that the defensive coaches ask of them? Or maybe even tackling better? I can guarantee better results on the field if that were to happen. Sometimes people forget that players have to execute in order for coordinators and coaches to be termed "successful". Do you think Tim Tibesar's defensive gameplan against Nebraska this week was lacking? I sure don't. But Kansas State gave up 70+ points to them on defense. I just think we need to realize that a lot of the responsibility falls on the players to execute and we are way too willing to put the blame solely on coordinators and coaches. Other than that, my suggestion would be UND 92,96 and bincitysioux as co-defensive coordinators.
  3. I hope that people realize this will be the last home playoff game for at least 5 years. If we get a half-ass crowd, I will be very disappointed. I know it's Winona, but lets send the team off to GVSU with a great crowd in the last home playoff game in D2.
  4. Is ndsu a good football team? Yes. Do I respect the hell out of them? Yes. Does my lifelong hatred for them overcome all of that on Saturday? YES! GO GOPHERS!
  5. How about just using the "surround yourself with good people" approach from the beginning. Everyone has to remember, by and far, the people that supposedly blew it for him are the people he brought in and hired himself. I hope nobody tries to make a martyr out of Buning.
  6. I have a theory about the whole Buning hiring in the first place. Call me crazy, but maybe there is some credence to it. Maybe the idea the whole time for the hiring committee was to bring in a guy who had no ties to the program, was a chain-of-command guy, and had no problem pissing people off to get the "bottom line" numbers in line (budget). Who better to do it than a guy from the Army who won't question any order given to him to execute. Maybe the people making the hiring decisions knew all along that by the time it was done, the new A.D. would not be well liked because of the tough calls he was going to have to make. And maybe, just maybe, they had every intention of only having the A.D. around for a certain amount of time until numbers got fixed and moves were made(D1). It will probably make the next A.D.'s job a little less painful and easier to succeed. Enter the new A.D. with UND athletic experience and ties. Bottom line is I think maybe the minute they hired Buning, they had a timeline for his firing. Anyone think this may be a remote possibilty? By the way, keep in mind that I also believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was NOT the lone assassin.
  7. Ok, you are probably right. That is just your opinion and I guess I should just accept it as that. My apologies. I just really find it hard to believe that you have met Rob Bollinger and come to the conclusion that you 'just don't like the man', as you so succinctly put it. Any interest in sharing the moment which made you feel this way? I would be very interested in hearing it. If not, I would understand.
  8. For you to say that you "personally don't like the man" and "just have never liked him" tells me that you have never met nor know Rob Bollinger. I have never met nor do I know you, but I will use your logic in asssuming that you are a j@ck@$$ for having stated that.
  9. UND didnt get pumped by anyone in 2001. In 2003, they lost to Mesa State in overtime, I believe.
  10. LOL. Hammer just said "what do you think of that Tony, Montana, at home, having trouble with Southern Utah for 3 quarters"....... Tony Montana I love that movie
  11. Someone tell those guys they are still on the air. Hammer is on a headhunting mission. LOL!!
  12. It will be interesting to see how the defense and the secondary react to the aerial assault they will see from here on out from SUU during their catchup mode. Our young DB's are gonna get tested. Let's see how they react.
  13. My bad. I thought the game started at 6:30 with the pregame starting at 6:00 and was trying to get on then.
  14. Why isn't the pre-game show available on the fighting sioux website? I can't seem to load it up yet. Absolutely ridiculous that we can't listen to the pre-game. Another reason to get my money back from my Siouxtra subscription.
  15. What? Not quite sure how to reply to that statement.
  16. Another FCS loss to a lowly D2...... Delta State 27 Jackson State 15 Also Stephen F. Austin losing to Tarleton, who is not a perennial playoff participant in D2, makes ndsu's stronger scheduling argument a little weaker. So I'm guessing ndsu should win by at least 4 TD's then right?
