  1. CC loses in OT 6-5. Just kidding, Godsmack!
  2. Don't count your eggs before they hatch! Especially with CC.
  3. I'm glad Minot decided to play the game! Was worried they'd just take the 2nd place trophy after reading some of the predictions in this thread.
  4. Sprinkles are for winners!
  5. gfhockey fails.
  6. Some sports Nostrodamus you are, LOL!
  7. Haven't seen those before...I should be appalled at those uniforms, but strangely enough, I kinda like 'em.
  8. I didn't base that conference line-up on Sioux fans, where they live, their alumni base, and how easy it would be for them to get to games. I tried to be fair to other schools in the imaginary MafiaMan Conference so that everyone had some benefit. I kind of hodge-podged some historic and geographic reasons and that's what I came up with. Yes, I tossed out the storied histories of Colorado College and Denver (and what seems to be a budding program in UNO) but have added some old-time Yooper hockey schools in Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, and Lake Superior State University. Duluth is actually closer to Houghton MI than it is to Grand Forks. Houghton to Marquette is another two hours away but UMD gains a couple of "Copper Country" rivals in Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan (which UMD fans would certainly like). Sault Ste Marie is the X factor, being a whopping 4 hours and 47 minutes away from Houghton, not to mention Duluth and everyone else. However, since it's the only other hockey school left on the UP, it makes sense that they'd be in the conference. It's 4 hours and 18 minutes from LSSU to the closest rival in the lower half of Michigan (Michigan State), so there's not that much difference in terms of travel for the Soo Lakers driving west as opposed to driving south. Minnesota and Wisconsin keep their natural rivalry. Wisconsin to Houghton is over a 5 hour ride, but that's peanuts compared to a 10+ hour ride to State College PA. Even Sault Ste Marie is only 7 hours away from Madison by comparison. Mankato and St Cloud are happy too because they're close to everyone in the state. All Minnesota programs are now back in the same conference. If you wanted to divide the conference into pods, you could go with this: MTU, NMU, LSSU UND, UMD, Bemidji State Minnesota, Wisconsin, Mankato State, St Cloud State Each pod would be guaranteed a home and away series against each pod member. The rest of the schedule would change every year and the pods would rotate. That would prevent something like a UND to MTU, NMU, and LSSU every year and instead perhaps make it an every-third-year road trip. It wasn't something scientific or something I thought was absolutely the best route to go, it was just an idea...
  9. A Michigan loss would kill their PWR. Michigan is the only choice here. Think about the kids.
  10. If Michigan blows thiis game, I'll be convinced that God wants Minnesota in the NCAA tournament.
  11. Wisconsin 1 Michigan 0 end of 1.
  12. No. Minnesota's not making the tournament.
  13. "Burn the ship"? Nah. Let's go with "sprinkles are for winners". Now let's go get some ice cream!
  14. I'm going to add "watching paint dry" to the list of over-used expressions. Don't know why I just thought of it...must be some reason though.
  15. How do you figure that? Atlantic Hockey is already taking away a tournament spot from the #16 team...no way is #15 or #14 a safe bet.
  16. Most definitely.
  17. Dynamite post, tnt! (See what I did there?) These are the last 7 players to ever wear the Fighting Sioux logo. Would love to see that legacy cemented forever with a new national championship banner inside REA.
  18. Disappointing that New Ulm beat Luverne in the sectional final in Class A...
  19. Every time I hear someone say "sick mitts," "sauce," or "filthy" these days, it reminds me of the old Ray Romano bit on SNL where he plays a dorky new SportsCenter guy and busts out the "sweet sassy molassey" line. I guess I'd just old-school it with "unbelievable" or "what a move by Nick Schmaltz."
  20. Roger that. I wasn't sure if it was something the losing team could just elect to do earlier than that just to save some energy for the next game.
  21. Triple not so fast, my friend! Go Minot!
  22. Right on. That goalie interference call was a late Christmas present. Playing with fire that last 5:00 or so.
  23. Seriously, Blackheart, you made me LOL with that comment. Uncontested fast break dunks...in a game where the dunker's team is losing by 25, too.
  24. Men's hockey.
