I say the only way for the Nickel to come out is when NDSU and UND are in the same conference, or GT grows a pair allows for NDSU to play UND every year. So if you look at those situations the Nickel will stay in retirement indefinately.

Everyone not just Sioux fans know the NCAA is the worst thing since Hitler. Congress knows how corrupt it is with no playoffs like every other division in the NCAA. Look at the penalties and corruption with schools. Could you see the NCAA give the death penalty to Ohio State or Miami? I am shocked they banned USC from being bowl eligible. If the NAIA was exactly like the NCAA then sure sign us up but they aren't. IMO the NCAA is a monopoly in college sports. If the polls (SI, and ESPN) can show that 80% of NA have no problems with NA nicknames why did the NCAA come out with this policy? Answer just to show how powerful they are and to push the little guy around. It almost backfired when FSU threatened to sue so thats why the NCAA modified it. I wish our delegation would have talked to their congressional friends and launch an investigation on the corrupted organization called the NCAA.

Out of 8 schools that have new nicknames 4 of them have the name Hawks. 1 hawk, 1 Crimson Hawk, and 2 War Hawks. Is that a popular choice? Should UND become the Green Hawk? Or the Fighting Hawks? Or the UND we sh-t on the heads of the NCAA Hawks.

I have years of coaching and playing experience.. right now I have an undefeated Sioux team on NCAA Football 12 for PS3. Its not that hard to second guess a coach if you watch the game and see what the team is doing wrong. Announcers do it all the time. I hear Mike Berg give his 2 cents and even though he didn't win a state title at Central he coached players that became good Sioux players (and a pretty good Badger in Bollinger). So if he can see what Muss is doing wrong why would that make Berg wrong and Muss right? You hear Lee Corso do it on ESPN, I heard Madden do it for years on tv. Obviously if this many people can see there is something wrong maybe its not us..but it IS the coaching.

Our first FBS team ever played, who was coming off a run for a national title the year before. They were 10-0 before finishing the year 11-2 and here comes North Dakota into their house (sorry its a home for MAC teams), and UND was down 28-13 early in the 4th before giving up 10 points late. Hey 38-13 is better than the 45-0 last year to Idaho and 44-14 last night. This is Texas Tech not a doormat of the Big 12 like Kansas (who finished 5-7 the year before NDSU played them). So yes I was pleased that we stayed within 2 TD's through 3 quarters. Actually Ohio State shut out Minnesota 44-0 to answer your question.

This talk about transition makes me think we are exactly like SDSU and not USD. USD is more like NDSU beating a FBS team where SDSU has not, plus SDSU lost to DIII Wisconsin-LaCrosse. So lets look at what SDSU did during their transition (remember the first Dakota team to make the playoffs). 2004 6-5 (with 3 DII wins), 2005 6-5 (2 wins over a DII and DIII team) 2006 7-4 (win over DII, loss to DIII), and 2007 7-4 (full DI schedule). So in total 26-18 also 0-0 vs FBS teams. UND: 2008 6-4 (4 non DI wins) 2009 6-5 (win over DII, loss to Sioux Falls) 2010 3-8 (2 DII wins). 2011 1-1. UND's total 16-18 with a 0-4 FBS record. SDSU 6-1 vs DII and DIII opponents, UND 7-1 vs non DI opponents. Kinda similar but a little better. If UND loses FBS games fine, but if we drop DII games and can't win a conference game there is more to blame than transition. UND as of now has 10 FCS wins (15 if we win every one this year). SDSU had 20 in their 4 years.

TT was 8-5 in 06, 11-2 in 08 before UND played them the first game in 09. UND scored 13 points on TT defense Oklahoma scored 13, Nebraska only scored 10. We gave up 38 points 6 FBS teams gave up more so I think we did a good job at TT. NDSU scored 9 points on Minnesota only Temple and Kent State scored less.

Idaho has just over 12,000 vs Bowling Green and 10,000 for UND. Now without Boise State in the WAC how will Idaho meet the requirement of 15,000.

I have said that before that they could add years to our transition for all these extra meetings and lawsuits. I know no school has had that happen, but as they say there is always a first.

Its not just winning and losing, its getting our @sses kicked and getting embarrassed. Since moving to DI we lost to Sioux Falls at HOME! Lost 45-0 to Idaho (yes Idaho!), and up 14-3 giving up 41 straight points..yes 41!!!! If we lost to Idaho 31-14 fine, or lost 28-0 fine, but Sioux Falls was inexcuseable. So we cannot use transition as an excuse, we need to win, or we become the UNC of the Big Sky. Right now we are the Morningside of the Great West.

UND gave up 424 yards of offense to Idaho....Fresno State racked up 444 yards on Nebraska's defense with 190 yards on the ground. Could this spell disaster for UND? I predict a blowout Fresno St 48 UND 20
