The suit says the hockey program was "the most prominent and popular sport" among women's athletic programs at the Grand Forks college.

A little bit misquoted, but even claiming that it was the most prominent and popular sport among womens athletic programs is a stretch.  Womens basketball and volleyball were much more popular.  Attendance numbers don't lie.

But on social media you would think there were games sold out and thousands of people in line at games....oh wait that describes the men’s team. Lots of crickets in line to see the women’s hockey team.

Anyone else find it odd that the neither of the Lamoureux twins have tweeted about this lawsuit?  Seems like they would be all over this story!

If they win the lawsuit you will hear a lot of tweets from them. Maybe they aren’t as confident this is as winnable as the attorney filing the suit.

Regardless as to the result of the case. I don't buy that there wasn't a way to save WIH without a massive endowment. You could have cut other sports (track, softball, tennis etc) and just WIH dramatically reduce their budgets. Idalski's contract was up, step one would be to hire a cheaper coach who focused on local recruits.

Am I way off here or are there other factors I'm missing?

By cutting those other sports wouldn’t we drop the minimum number of sports needed for DI? I believe we are at the minimum now.

I found that money by dropping FCS football.  If you want to talk wasted money, there you go.

But, it's not about cutting football.  It's about doing what's right.  Or, we can cut football.  Denver University doesn't need it.

    From the Bismark Tribune:

Football at UND had the largest gap with revenues of $1.8 million and expenses of $4.1 million.

Dropping football would be against Title IX for men. So try again.

Girls high school hockey is growing, it's not going away.  Over 50% of UND students are female.

We're a hockey school.  Kennedy better step it up.

    Again, I hope they win.

But not growing enough for Central and Red River to field separate teams. So if they reinstate the program how many of the people on social media screaming to reinstate it are going to pay a ticket (provided it’s no longer free admission) and show up. Hopefully more than the 200 that found their way to a playoff game.

  6. How can they force a school who had to cut their budget thanks to the governor and former governor to reinstate a program that loses 2 million dollars a year? And why women’s hockey? Why isn’t wrestling, baseball, and swimming getting reinstated too? The program is gone and buried get over it.

I’m still not a fan of adding Mankato to the NCHC because you might as well add the rest of the old WCHA.

But if they add Bowling Green wouldn’t that be turning our conference into the old CCHA?

    Miami, WMU, Omaha, BG,

Exactly, if we are down 35-14 I'll be pissed as hell if we pull our starters.  I mean if there is 6 minutes left in the game then maybe pull some.  At least we have legitimate backup QB's this year so it's not like the season ends if our QB goes out like it's been the past two years.  Washington appears to be a very good team and a win is very highly unlikely.  But as coaches and players your mindset has to be to win, or at least go in the mindset of making it a 4 quarter game and then see what happens.  Will it be a 4 quarter game......likely not.  But if you give up before the game even starts you are screwed.

I hope we can buck the trend and go the whole year without major injuries or at least get through the first few games without one.

One can always use that excuse because UND has rarely ever won as a DI program. The one season of late they did win (2016), the highly hyped home playoff game wasn't even the best attended game of the season ... oh yeah, and there was a fricken neutral site away hockey game on that date also, God damn.

UND has a history of poorly attended first round games. Winona State in 2001 was what half full and we won the national title with only one loss. So winning puts butts in the seats may be an excuse but it’s a damn good one. It was that way at NDSU before their dynasty started they didn’t sellout the Fargodome every game in 2011 after their 3 win 2010 season (let alone during that season) and they didn’t fill the dome in their first EVER playoff game at the dome in 2011. So even a football school can stumble in attendance if they start dropping games.

Yo Sioux Volley what kind of conspiracy can you attach to this information.

i saw they repainted the basketball floor but did not include the summit conference logo. Does this mean we won't be in the Summit for long and are possibly entertaining joining a FBS conference? That totally must be it.

The logo is towards the top of the key by the free throw line.

Homecoming should have been the October 13th game against Montana, but there is a hockey game that night against Bemidji St. that night.  It's a home and home, so not sure why they didn't schedule the game in Grand Forks Friday so UND could have it's homecoming game and festivities after that night on Saturday.

Also, you aren't going to have the Potato Bowl on the Thursday opener either, so they are kind of stuck.  I guess we can expect that game to be a sellout then!!

We will pack the Alerus as long as UND wins. So does this mean there will be two parades on that Saturday morning?

Well, let's start by looking at the biggest game in UND football DI history which was in 2016:

2016 FCS playoffs 2nd Round (12/3/16): Richmond @ North Dakota

    halftime: UND 17 Richmond 7

end of game: UND 24 Richmond 27

Let’s not look at that game. That still stings.

Good grief, do you have to start this nonsense in every thread. Give it a rest.

Nonsense? So UND doesn’t take over the two buildings in 2030?

What are you going to do in 12 years when UND takes control of the REA, and the Betty, and Hawk logos are all over the place? On buildings, signs and the court/ice?
