Just need to keep elevating the conference by playing better schedules and winning some big games OOC and in the tourney. Multi bid conferences like the MVC didn't start out where they are either.

Sorry, the MVC is a 1 bidder also.  Wichita has had their moments, but otherwise very 1 bid.  2017 definitely 1 bid.

Crawling back? Seems like UND got everything they wanted out of the deal. Lower travel costs and a home for their football team, despite the fact that it doesn't really benefit the MVFC. Seems like the Summit wanted a 10th team enough that the schools in the league had no issue adding an unneeded team to their football conference.

So we wont continue to hear about the superiority of the BSC for UND, and that the BSC wanted UND and none of the other dakotas?  And that its so much better than the Slummit?  Which way are you spinning it today?  5 years of trashing the Summit, and that's it, your on board?

Well the news has definitely given some FargoU fans a sense of self-importance on message boards and Twitter, so I guess they have that going for them? The entertainment from teeth-gnashing, excuse making and revisionist history of them is an added bonus in this whole thing.

No, the bonus is und crawling back to ndsu after years of blowing and going about the coup that was the Big Sky, that only und could get into.  Only On Sioux sports, spin away!

The "20% chop" is a 6.9% chop at UND and a 12.2% chop at NDSU, thanks to Schafer's foresight.

You used Schaffer and foresight in the same sentence.  I pray to God that guy never touches anything at ndsu.  You can have him.

Summit League basketball has 8 teams in their tournament. So all but the last two teams starting next year makes it.

When there are 10 teams, you'll have 7-10,8-9 playin games like the Valley and Horizon do.  They won't leave 2 teams completely out.

If Coastal and W Kentucky can do it, with far less resources at their disposal, so can we.  But you and others have been poo-pooing the idea since before this thread started as we are not worthy in your eyes.

Anyone can go FBS, go ahead if you like.   If you can't pay coaches and do not have resources to compete, you might win 4 games a year.  Wheres the value in that?

No, it wouldn't have. The MVFC was on record that adding one in 2010 was palatable but two wasn't happening. That was the same stance they held both publicly and privately until just a few months ago. UND had inquired more than once and nothing changed until very recently. Also begs the question to what changed but I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

They're on record in 2010 saying no expansion planned, then usd asked.  They're on record in 2017 with Patty saying no plans to expand, then you asked.  Sorry, but you could have done the same in 2010, but your admin didn't want to do the work.

I wish Gene Taylor were still at NDSU.  He would have never allowed this to happen.

It would have happened in 2010, but too much ego by your admin to build the necessary bridges to make it happen like usd did.   See, all you have to do make your desires known, and look what happens.

So in your mind, 18 cut to 9 is equal to 45 cut to 36....?

Just an example of how reductions make an impact, that I assumed even you could understand.

Actually, it would help the schools with something more than a scholarship to offer (tradition, facilities, path to the next level) but it would hurt the overall game.

it would throw  healthy restricter plate on any strong engine, booster club, and fundraising.  Yes, you might get the best players that want to walk-on.

How many scholarships increases do we think FCS would have needed this year to help NDSU and Montana play for the  championship? 4.7?

I think cutting DI hockey scholarships in half would be a good idea, and would have no impact on the sport.

Speaking of objectivity: Guessing you think Chapman was a rock star too?

I said Brescani was great compared to the last two bums you guys had.  That's all I said.  Did I mention Chapman at all?

Must be a hell of in interviewer.  His track record at NDSU is certainly less than impresive.

Compared to Kupjello (zero vision or ideas, out of town and unavailable for contact, no change advocate) and Kelley (pushed out under faculty mutiny and zero rapport with student population;  major lack of control and budgeting issues), Brescani is a rock star.

Brescani had great vision for the university, dug it out of a major budget problem, grew academic profile and funding; supported DI athletics the nth degree, had a 86% favorable rating with faculty and is loved by the students.

Less than impressive, compared to what?  Sure, ndsu haters want him gone . . . why do you think that is?   A little objectivity would be good when considering what Brescani has done.   He is Trump compared to your Obamas when it comes to accomplishing actual work.

Well, there are those people, but it has nothing to do with this.

Guy hates UND, is trying to be clever, and ends up (IMO) looks stupid and tactless. (Yes, UND fans, we have people who make similar choices; ex. Blackface, SiouxperDrunk shirts, F%$k the NCAA shirts, etc.) The guy is a moron.

I'm sure UND didn't like that, as they have tried to distance themselves with the name and logo, and I'm sure NDSU didn't like it, as they don't want their school associated with someone making (what could be perceived as) derogatory remarks.

Agreed on all points.  Und admin is a lot better off not responding to stuff like this.  No one at ndsu would think that this shirt is appropriate.

  15. 2 hours ago, Northcountry said:

I agree that UND administration getting upset is, if not silly, at least not worth the energy.  UND has moved past the nickname issue (officially, not yet generally) and the Fighting Sioux name no longer officially exists. UND does not use or promote it.  Therefore the shirt in question cannot be in reference to a name that no longer exists and must reflect only the attitude that this individual has toward Native Americans in general or toward members of the Sioux Nation specifically.  If this guy wants to show off his blatant racism at the same time that he mindlessly fawns over the NDSU football program, then that is his problem and the problem of NDSU.  The University of North Dakota should not be concerned about how others approach the Sioux name because it is not connected to them.  Why this guy so obviously hates Native Americans is beyond me - I'm just happy he has nothing ill to say about the University of North Dakota.

This guy is trying to show is dislike und, with a very misplaced display.  I'm pretty sure I can't assume he hates native Americans any more than I can assume people wearing fighting Sioux stuff hate native Americans.  No one hates native Americans, they just don't.  It may be offensive to NA's, but no one at und or ndsu hates NAs.  Kids chanting stuff at football games  don't hate NA.  Not even close.

Good grief, you are all starting to sound like an old couple. "How can I turn this into an argument, and if it doesn't work, I'll argue it anyway".

Was the shirt stupid, Yes. Have other fans acknowledged the stupidity of the shirt, Yes.

Is it comparable to wearing a Sioux shirt, No. Is it comparable to wearing the "F&@! the NCAA" shirts that were floating around the Ralph several years ago, Yes, they could be put in that same categories.

Does NDSU have some idiot student. Of course. Does UND have some idiot students. Of Course

...... See where I'm going with this? All teams have players who get into trouble (not acceptable, but a fact). All Schools have students who are morons (not acceptable, but a fact). All media outlets, are going to report stories like the t-shirt, the arrest, etc, and ask the administration questions. (It is what the media does). All administrative members are going to responds with a politically correct tone, not condoning insensitive behavior (It is was administrative people to in today's world). We're all pretty similar in many regards, so if we break it down, it becomes us bickering over who's institution has the lesser of the morons.

For what its worth, I'm sure NDSU officials weren't exactly thrilled to see that picture plastered all over in association with their school name. Even more so, I'm sure the kids parent weren't thrilled either. I'd be having a talk with my son about what is funny and what is just stupid.

Bottom line, the shirt speak volumes more about the character of the kid, than the character of the University.

Doesn't look like a kid to me, looks like an adult.

  17. 2 hours ago, SiouxBoys said:

So if I read that correctly, you think wearing a shirt like that, and wearing a shirt with a Sioux head on it are the same thing?

That shirt in the Fargodome is offensive imo.  In others opinion, wearing fighting Sioux gear is offensive.   Who is to say what's offensive, you?  Und president?  I'm pretty sure offensive is in the eye of the beholder.

  18. The shirt is stupid and makes no sense, the guy is an idiot obviously.  Your administration getting upset about is silly though.  If they want to start making issues on stuff like this, then they should maybe require fighting sioux stuff to be turned inside out.  They should be working to change the hockey culture and get the hockey coaching staff to step up like football has with regard to the nickname.  They are obviously more worried about what happens down south than their own issues.

As for the ndsu president being responsible?  Yes, he is just as responsible for that as your president is for the recent und twitter mess and the football player behavior this week.

i totally agree with you on the ndac..but i could care less about the sodak schools and augie and so forth...but the fact is we are at a standstill til something gives...the BSC has said no to the ndac twice...and the slummit/midcon has never given us the time of day...either we go where the ndac is (which is step down in everything) or the ndac comes to the big sky or the reborn wac...und, ndac, um, msu, idaho, and nmsu for fb (fcs/fbs i don't care) and sprinkle in omaha and denver.

Wow, you are delusional on so many levels.  Are you joking, are completely out of touch with reality?  A standstill?

Either school has had the opportunity to move if they wanted to, neither has chosen to do so.  All und would need to do is say the word and the Summit would take them.  When und went to the BSC, the BSC was taking anyone with a pulse.  At that time and today, NDSU would prefer their sports in their time zone and recruiting areas.

Could und move to ndsu's conf?  Yes, any time.

Could ndsu move to und's conf?  Yes, they would have been taken when und joined, and they would be taken today.  No desire to do so.

Other than the letting the committee look into the issue what decision has he made yet on this topic?

When your decision making is always done via committee, it's not a position of strength.  People generally want people leading them that make decisions, and do it quickly.  It builds trust for that individual, even though you might not agree with every decision.

Where's that $4 million number coming from? Worst case scholarships (63 --> 85) is 22 times 2 (title IX) for 44. At $20k per that's $880k. What else? Coaches? OK, double the current numbers. What else? NDSU and UND both have the FBS minimum sport sponsor ship (16) so that's done. Maybe add a few more women's scholarships for extra Title IX insurance? And ... ... ... I'm getting about half your number at worst. What am I missing?

4 million to move to the 85 scholly level with title iX has been the number used by numerous teams and reports over the past 5 years.  That number is nothing new.
