Our plan is to just walk around and meet some friendly Nebraska fans!!  I've heard the Haymarket Park west of the stadium is a good place to tailgate.  Bifg lot next to the baseball stadium.  Will probably start there then head down right next to the stadium.  So glad this is a 2:30 game and not 11 am.  Makes it nice for the pre and post game festivities!! :D

Attended a Nebraska game a few years back and the game day experience is outstanding.

I would echo what you've heard about Haymarket. Massive gathering with restaurants, bars and an enormous courtyard with very large screens to watch games. If you don't have a tailgate spot lined up, I would recommend hanging out at the Haymarket.

Fans were the nicest, most knowledgeable, passionate fanbase I've ever been around. I'm sure you'll really enjoy your time there.

I just must comment on all of this.

Remember Otis is from Minneapolis… in Minneapolis these issues may have been ignored. There may have been little or no consequences. If he talked to relatives or had role models along this path… well, there would have been no fear of repercussions.

I am not saying that is true but the climate in Minneapolis is WAY DIFFERENT than Grand Forks. I do not know about Fargo-Moorhead.

Again, I feel sad an opportunity was wasted. And I understand the bad juju at the USD game….Bubba had a lot more than 4th down issues, IMHO.

Isn’t he from Moorhead? Did he live in Minneapolis prior to Moorhead?

"if i take this shot i'll be an fcs all american but when they test for this in the nfl i won't be able to take it and my muscle mass will decrease and ill be doing KVLY games in four years right?"

    Cute

It must hurt getting your ass kicked every year. Probably feels better to think everyone else is cheating. I understand.

haha....easton never aspires to be a starter....

tell that to undrafted romo, heineke, and kurt warner for undrafted qb's and throw in a 7th with fitzmagic...you kinda made my point for me on that one.

when you spend 4 years telling your guys that beating incarnate word and delaware state that your NFL ready some guys start believing it and the fire goes away

So out of the hundreds if not thousands of players that have been low draft picks you pick the very few examples of people who rose above that and became hall of famers in Warner’s case. And this is the standard that Easton has to live up to in your mind or he’s a failure? Got it.

You don’t have the slightest clue what is said in the team room at NDSU.

    define long...define progressing...

    was kyle's long?

if carson is done after this year....would you consider him having a "long" nfl career and did he progress during those six years?

if trey is out of the league in couple years would a 4 year career be "long"....

is easton progressing in san diego?

    Lots of ifs there.

If Carson never played another snap, he would have almost doubled the average career span in the nfl.

Treys career hasn’t even started yet, really. Might want to pump the breaks there.

For Easton to still be in the league is amazing. He isn’t exactly your prototypical pro QB. He is clearly showing his coaches and personnel people enough to keep him on the active roster. He was a 5th round pick, the expectations were never for him to be a starter in the league by anyone who follows football.

    that's why i said alot...not all....

did you even read my post?

Yes I read it, it just simply has no merit.

How is it that these players have had such long careers(by nfl standards) in the league if they aren’t progressing.

my original post states that they alot of the ndac pro caliber players don't think they have to PROGRESS bc they think that fcs football is FBS SEC football and get to the next level and find out otherwise...

carson, easton, kyle, lamar, trey,...soon to be watson....

    so yes.

NFL teams will cut anybody without any regard for anyone’s interest but their own…rightfully so.

You don’t stick around in the nfl as long as many of the ndsu guys have without progressing.

I wonder why you left out Billy Turner from your non-sensical list of ndsu players that have played in the nfl longer than the league average career length, but somehow don’t live up to SIOUXFAN97’s talent eval.

The sensitivity is real with you bizun guys......WOW!

For the record I hope both young men have long and prosperous careers.

To your comment, a simple scroll to the original comment comparing the two for absolutely no reason may provide some insight into where the real insecurity and sensitivity lies in this discussion.

I agree if they are going to play defense, try to score. But I'm not sure dunking after the buzzer and then spending a extra time hanging on the rim to make sure it's rubbed in just a little bit extra fits that bill. Emotions got the best of a few people last night.

Everything that happened on the court after the game has no defense, no place for that crap.

But dunking after the buzzer, hanging on the rim after your opponent(who is a conference rival) breaks an unwritten rule of keeping pressure defense on while down big in the final minute? That’s totally understandable from my perspective. And I’m not surprised for a second if Richman had a few things to say about it after the game if that’s how it went down.

  10. I think it’d be interesting to hear what was said between the two coaches. In sports emotions run high, they both felt justified in talking a little trash for their own reasons I would imagine and maybe the history goes deeper than just this game. But if it comes down to just how this game ended, if you’re going to keep your team in a full court press down 20 in the last minute, you can’t be surprised if the other team decides to dunk on you at the horn.

Not to change gears from this enthralling discussion… but I have a question. In my opinion this was NDSUs second worst title team in the FCS era. Thinking about their roster next year I don’t see a great RB stable and I don’t see proven dynamic wrs. Add to that, we know the qbs aren’t good. I’m wondering what you see for the team next year. I think they need some unknown guys to really step up. Kinda have to assume they will given recent history.

Right now I wouldn’t be very helpful in that discussion. Been busy with life and haven’t been as plugged in as usual to the young guys coming through the pipeline.

I guess the final FBS rankings don’t carry as much weight as SIOUXFAN97 in your world. Carry on.

I’m aware. That’s where I think the P5 incest theory would apply. They were ranked fairly high, but safely outside of the P5 circle jerk. There’s bound to be a break through from time to time though.

Don’t disagree, but 4/7 years is pretty often. Especially given they’ve proven with Cincy this year they even in a four team tournament they let in a G5

  14. 1 minute ago, SIOUXFAN97 said:

watched the whole game....alabama played them like they were a jv team. could've won 55-6 if they wanted.

Agree to disagree. The result was never in doubt, I agree. But Cincy looked better than a lot of SEC teams did this year. Heck they looked better than Georgia did for most of the SEC championship game

  15. 1 minute ago, geaux_sioux said:

    12-1 Houston ranked 18 in 2015.
    13-0 Western Michigan ranked 15 in 2016.

    12-0 UCF ranked 12 in 2017.

    12-0 UCF ranked 8 in 2018.

    12-1 Memphis ranked 17 in 2019.

    9-0 Cincy in ranked 8 2020.

    13-0 Cincy ranked 4 in 2021.

As you can see if you’re G5 you don’t get respect. The only exception is Cincy recently. For a G5 school their name does carry some weight, though, because of their basketball success. An 11 win NDSU team would maybe get looked at for a 12 team playoff if they had a big ranked win. Even then it’s a maybe. Coastal Carolina had a ranked wins against #8 BYU and #21 ULL in 2020 and got sent to the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl. Let that sink in.

You used 7 examples above, 4 of them  are years that the top G5 team would have been included in a 12 team tournament.

and you saw what happened....same thing with notre dame...fool me once shame on......

How they competed is not part of this discussion in the slightest. However if you watched the game, I thought Cincinnati competed incredibly well. Did you watch the game or just look at the score?

q1-who f'n knows and same thing could said for ferris state and mount union

q2-absolutely not...a 1 or 2 loss team from the big12, big 10, acc, sec, .....get in before a 0 loss Akron Zips or Ragin' Cajuns....

Q2. You realize that you say that in a year that an undefeated G5 team(cincinatti)was included in a 4 team tournament?

  18. 6 minutes ago, geaux_sioux said:

Likely similar to an undefeated Coastal Carolina who, 11-0, were ranked 12. I have a theory though, that if the playoffs are expanded the rankings will favor P5 schools with a loss or two over the undefeated low G5 teams like Coastal. Meaning, they would find a way to rank them outside the top 12 and slide in a 1 or 2 loss team with blue blood.

I agree on your coastal Carolina point.

And unfortunately your likely spot on with FBS working to keep the tournament seeds “in house”. But it would be more fun for fans if it were merit based.
