If NDSU runs for 200+ yards it will be a 3 score win for NDSU

    I think you’re right.

This game will be decided by NDSU’s ability/inability to run the ball.

If UND can keep NDSU in third and medium/long all day, it’ll be a close one in the fourth quarter.

I don’t bet on sports, but if I did, I think ndsu by 10-14 would be where I’d put the money.

Not quite the same.  Bison guy was wondering why UND and their fans aren't making a bigger deal out of this game, like we are supposed to change everything and go crazy because it's NDSU.  It's week 4.

You need to get your priorities in order. If this is more than a few hour release from the priorities of having a real life, then I feel sorry for you.

He was personally shaming the bison poster and telling him he feels sorry for him for allowing a game to take up more if his life than a few hours. I understood the post perfectly, just thought it was hypocritical given we are all here doing something that if we had our priorities perfectly set this message board wouldn’t exist.

Depends where ya find him. He shows up as Lakes on most of the school sites that we are playing against to trash talk UND. I believe he is El Chapo on Bisonville.

Have to wonder what that guy is like in person. Pretty sad really that he truly hates a fan base as much as he does.  I enjoy fun rivalries and sure I "hate" the Bison and Gopher hockey, but most of the fans are good people.

Maybe he isn't like that in person, but online and hiding behind his profile the guy is a 100% A$$clown!

I’ve run into him in real life…about what you’d expect based on his online persona.

I though Lakes already promised us that this game isn't important and nobody will be there or care.

Those who know Lakes know not to take anything he says seriously. He does not speak for NDSU fans.

He knew Beau was a legacy. Roehl and Beau's uncle Alex were teammates. Beau's other uncle works with my wife and said that Alex was sending messages and videos to Roehl constantly before he chose UND.

NDSU missed. Beau is a dude. NDSU chose to recruit Raja Nelson (who was the star tribune player of the year in the cities). Beau and Raja were both early signing period signees.

What do you classify as insiders? Entz has won a title and lost in the quarterfinals in a covid spring season with a freshman QB thrown into the mix with a roster missing a 1st round pick QB, a 2nd round pick OT, and a fourth round pick LB. if anything I think it is the OC that should end questioned.

UND is coming. I have many friends that are huge fans. I support them, we have friendly banter. My wife is a UND grad. I just happened to grow up in an ag community and family.

Of course Roehl knew he was a legacy, Tyler and Alex played together and are friends. I said Entz didn’t approach the recruiting that way, straight from the horse’s mouth on that one. I know the family too.

insiders=formers players network and some even closer than that.

Fact. Then he came to UND's camp and left with an offer. UND has shown their camp evaluation are much better than the school to the South. MooU tends to use their camp to make money, UND leans the way of finding more dudes.

I think we offered before he went to their camp. That’s what I heard at least. Pretty sure he committed to us after they blew him off at their camp.

Through the grapevine I heard Entz dropped the ball on Belquist big time. Didn’t know that he was a legacy player or approach his recruiting with that in mind.
Maybe he would have played for UND in the end anyway, but I was told he would have liked to have been a Bison but the recruiting was such a turnoff that he wouldn’t have been at NDSU even if they offered in the end.

Entz isn’t high on a lot of insiders list these days. Hopefully he figures it out or mediocrity is definitely going to seep in.

They look the part of an FBS team on the DL in particular. It’s what we need to look like.

Careful, the old guard here gets upset when you say things like that apparently

  8. My point is SHSU is a much better built and complete team than they’ve been in the past. They’ve been extremely skilled but weak up front in years past, they are so much better up front this year than ever before.

You’re right - I haven’t watched FCS football for the past 10 years. I’ll have to start watchin’ some film, as you say.

Nothing I said is inaccurate or even biased. Just the facts.

Keeler is quoted as saying he built his team to beat NDSU specifically.

Yes, of course; NDSU’s running game is God’s great gift to us all. So spectacular. So unstoppable. Unreal Sam Houston could even think about stopping that nonetheless actually beat the bizons.

You apparently haven’t watched FCS football in the last 10 years. Watch some film and then rejoin the conversation.

Looking at who is playing in title game. The last 2 times we played Sam Houston we won. This year we beat SDSU by double digits. We are close!!!!!

Your sentiment about your team is accurate, but SHSU is a very different team than they’ve been in past years. They are so much better up front on both sides of the ball than ever before. SHSU of years past would have never stopped an ndsu run game and JMU would have overpowered them. Great job by their coach adapting in recruiting and development.

That’s when you give him a little bigger cushion at LOS or you better be able to knock him off his route and slow him down enough to give your teammates time to pressure the QB. The other attribute that I think is really important is quickness. Acceleration off the receivers cut and quickness to beat the DB press at LOS to create separation.

Agreed, I always found the guys who really took pride in route running to be the most frustrating to play against. Travis White at ndsu was the epitome of this for me. Was a 4.5 guy, but he could make you look so foolish with his route running. He was so difficult to cover.

My comments really aren’t so much about Watson. Your points are well taken. Too many on this board are enamored by “elite” speed. 4.6 forty speed is good. There are not many forty yard passes in a game. A big receiver who can read a defense and find the seem and catch the ball is an excellent receiver. If the can run a 4.3 or 4.4 forty and do those things that’s even better. Those are the guys who get drafted.

    Absolutely, I agree.

But...I can tell you from personal experience, lining up against a guy who runs 10.2-10.3 puts a fear in your heart as a corner that you do not have when lining up against 10.8. That corner is taking a half step or full step back at the snap and the safety is shading that side thinking about that deep ball every single snap.

Having both types of guys on your offense keeps defensive backfield on their toes and slower to show up in run game support.

If he was so fast, why did Maeg accumulare more receiving yards? If I'm an OC with half a brain, I'm taking shots to a game changing WR all day. I wonder if Roehl knows this is how one's brain should operate?

I’m sure we could go back and forth for days on this. I have no interest in debating whether or not Christian Watson has elite speed with you. Does that make him the best wide receiver in a discussion? No. Speed is one attribute that is desirable in a player. I would argue for a receiver it’s not even the most important one.

But, for the millionth time, in the context of this conversation about UND not having a deep ball threat, a player like Watson is exactly what UND is missing. I don’t think I can say it more clearly than that.

He’s faster than UND’s guys, but I wouldn’t agree he is head and shoulders better as a WR. I will take UND’s receivers. They are athletic, catch in a crowd, and they block well. Considering how often his speed made a difference ( I know it can) this year, I will take the complete package guy every time. Your speed guys needs the QB to get him the deep ball. That requires protection for the QB and receiver to beat the DB of find the seam in the zone. I think it’s tougher than the 8-15 yd pass plays that take less time but require better timing to get ball to receivers on the break. The fastest WR we ever had was Norm McGee. All- American sprinter in track and qualified for the Olympic trials as a sprinter I believe. He could out run any defender but QB has to adjust to elite speed and it’s surprising how often these guys are overthrown or under thrown. I’m not sure there is a right or wrong answer but just my opinion.

As I’ve said, UND has some nice players, I’m not diminishing their abilities. However, in the context of this conversation which started by saying UND doesn’t have a single receiving with game breaking, over the top speed. In that respect, Watson is special and is the type of player that gets highlighted in a defensive game planning session. UND didn’t have a receiver like that this year.

For the record, I’m not the one who initiated the UND vs NDSU receivers conversation. I simply made a comment about UNDs lack of elite speed at the receiver position which is a well known and commonly discussed topic on this board.

  16. 9 minutes ago, FlinFlan80 said:

I'm not taking him out of the conversation I just knew that you would mention him instantly. Throw him in there and I'll still take UND's group over NDSU's. MooU wanted Richter, he choose UND. Maeg would start for NDSU and steal targets from your boy. Didn't even mention Belquist, who as I stated earlier, was able to burn the dude that your squad thinks was the best DB in the FCS......

Of course I would mention him, he’s by far our best and fastest receiver.

Your argument makes no sense in the context of our conversation because Watson specifically provides the speed and over the top game that UND doesn’t have and is the entire point of this discussion.

You have some solid guys, I’d be the first to admit it. A couple of guys I would tak in Fargo in a heartbeat. I would love to have Belquist in green and gold, his dad and uncle were excellent receivers and are even better men.

But neither Belquist nor anyone else on your roster is an over the top, scare a defense to go into a different coverage player, Watson is.

    UND's WR > NDSU's WR.

Your answer: But Christian Watson blah blah blah. You can tell the kid is a cancer to the team culture and I'll quote this response when he enters the portal.

I'll still with our "slow" WR's.

You can’t take Watson out of the conversation when comparing the teams, what kind of argument is that?

His talent and speed is game changing. Not good enough IMO for the next level, but he’s head and shoulders above any of UNDs guys specifically as an over the top threat.

  18. 1 minute ago, FlinFlan80 said:

I was simply stating a fact. Didn't say UND didn't get rolled that day, but while we are handing out life rules here's one: Don't expect people to take you seriously or like you on a UND message board with "bison" in your name.

Fine, to the original conversation then. You have slow receivers, it’s not a secret, pointing out a time where they happened to not look slow doesn’t change that. So your only point was to talk trash, at least admit it. So I responded in kind.

so if I changed my avatar on this board my opinion would be accepted differently. Same opinion, different name gets a different response? That’s an odd approach to talking football.

Well at least we still know it’s true......that you could say something about NDSU in the middle of a forest.....and within minutes an NDSU fan would pop out of nowhere to set the record straight.

God forbid NDSU doesn’t win the championship next year either, the NDSU police will be out in even more full force to protect and make sure not one slightly negative comment be uttered about their Bison.

You mean the guy who literally quoted my post? Pardon me for continuing a conversation that I’m quoted in.

No disrespect to your receivers because JMU has done the same thing to NDSU at times, but what does it tell you about the d coordinators opinion on your receivers if he’s willing to do this? It isn’t always as easy at it seems, the receivers have to be able to win those one on one matchups and maybe your O coordinator didn’t think they could.
