  1. Anyone know if the Fargo Scheel's is still selling the authentics for $200? I got 2 out of the 3 Reebok's for Christmas, now just need to pick up the last one. :D

Also, debating on a Matt Greene game-worn NHL jersey for a nice price...oh the dilemma. :)

As of a couple days ago they were. The guy told me through Christmas for sure.

  2. not a size thing, an age thing i would imagine. the usa coaches put together a team with age, grit and experience. i don't think it is to combat the team canada put together, i think it is the team the usa considers gives it the best chance of winning. we are the defending champs, not canada this year, with our winning goalie back and 4 ahlers (some with considerable nhl experience). morin being sent back to the ahl and allowed to go come to the wjc is probably what did rocco in. by all accounts he is dynamic, but he would have been the youngest AND smallest player on the team. he will be representing his country the next couple of years. should be a hell of a tournament. hopefully this experience springboards nelsons second half, we have definately seen glimpses of his skill, but as some have said earlier, just too easy to take off the puck (he should talk to vandy about that :D ). lets go USA!!! good to have some great hockey to watch over the holidays!!! will be nice to have some boys come back with the gold... not since parise, stafford and murray right? prediction... usa wins gold on home ice, forbort is a force and makes all tourney team!!

    Kristo last year?

  3. Tournaments are rarely reseeded. The schools need some type of structure. People need to make plans, they set up alumni events, etc. Reseeding after the first round would just confuse everyone from the teams to the fans.

I guess that makes sense. I was thinking that it has always been re-seeded, but in the old format, the Thursday night winner would always be playing the #1 seed, so no need to re-seed.

  4. Does any one have any idea when they inform you on where your seats are located?I have heard that they inform you in December, but i haven't heard anything.

Last year, they actually sent out letters in early December with details of your seat locations. I haven't seen anything this season, so it's possible that it was something special they did for Detroit due to the unique seating situation at Ford Field.

  5. Scheel's in Fargo and Moorhead just put the authentic Reebok Sioux jerseys on sale for $200 (normally priced at $300) for a limited time. If you purchase from the Moorhead store, there's no sales tax.

  6. I had some people back out on this year's trip to the WCHA Final Five, so I have 3 tickets that I'm looking to sell for face value, hopefully to some good Sioux fans. The tickets are located in Section 104 Row 16. These are great seats near center ice, on the penalty box side of the arena. PM me if you are interested. Price is $160/ticket, and I'm only interested is selling all three together.

    Tickets are sold.

  7. I can see Toronto playing him as soon as the NCAA tourney is over for the Sioux (that being in April)...

Unless Toronto gets into the playoffs, it won't happen. UND plays their last game on April 9th, same day Toronto plays their last game. :)

  8. Maybe the Gophs had the usual Sioux problem and couldn't pick a corner...

On another thread someone was talking about the Marto at Forward dynamic...maybe we should put together two lineup packages depending on the team we're playing...one more physical and one more skilled and fast...

Interesting thought regarding 2011-2012 (i know...way too early) , but at the moment I don't think that Gregoire or Kristo are NHL ready...Gregs could easily punch a ticket to a top two scoring line in the AHL, but that isn't the goal of leaving early...we could theoretically lose no underclassmen to the pros...Blood appears to be the closest, but I think he'd go to the AHL too. You should never leave early for the minors...

I'll respectfully disagree about Gregoire. I think the Isles could find a spot for him in their lineup. Hopefully we see him back next year, but wouldn't be surprised a bit to see him sign and skip his final year.

  9. That's RPI you're describing (where your record and your opponent's records, and your opponent's opponents records are mathematically combined), and the Sioux have a higher RPI than DU. SIoux are 3rd, DU is 4th,

The SIoux are 4th instead of third in the PWR for one simple reason: Maine. Those head to head losses have Maine winning the pairwise against us still, costing us 3rd...

I know it's early and these rankings don't mean anything yet, but how can Yale be #1 in the KRACH rankings? I thought that system put a great deal of emphasis on strength of schedule.

  10. I threw out the suggestion of Marto at Forward early in the offseason, and the idea wasn't very popular with others on this board. Maybe it's not such a horrible idea after all. I think it will be a nice option to have if injuries were to hit us later in the season, especially around tournament time.

  11. What's funny is Chay Genoway plays defense for the Sioux like a typical B*ston C*llege forward. Fast and aggressive with a scoring mentality, but can still play defense.

I don't know why people are so anti-Genoway forward. He hasn't played great defense this year, and his offensive numbers haven't been spectacular by any means. Why not give him a chance to go to town with the puck down low. He's great at finding open areas and getting shots off quick and accurate.

Imagine these five guys on the ice at the same time:

Knight centering Frattin and Genoway with Forbort and Blood on the blue line. That's a great combo of three scorers (who all do it in their own way, and can play defense), along with two defensemen who can move the puck and play pretty good defense. Everyone knows how good Chay can maneuver through opponents to get the puck up ice. However, he always ends up running out of space eventually, even if he beats a couple guys. Now, put him at a forward position. Picture Forbort making a good outlet pass, and then Chay only has a guy or two (which he does regularly anyways), and getting off a higher quality shot than we would have. Also, Chay can stay aggressive and his turnovers are less costly because there are always two guys (the defensemen) to back him up.

We have the depth at defense to do it, so why not take Genoway and showcase his scoring abilities even more by getting him more opportunities with the puck.

And yes, I know it will never happen, so you don't have to tell me.

I like it, especially considering the depth we have at D when everybody is healthy. And I also agree that it will never happen.
