  1. I'd like somebody on the committee to look at the number of Sioux fans in attendance at the Final Five, then do the math as to how much more revenue they could gain by having that many extra fans in St. Paul. Won't happen, I know, but I wish there was some way they could justify sending us back to the X!

  2. Here is CHN final bracket predition...

    http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2010/03/20_bracket.php

    Midwest (Fort Wayne)

    1. Miami vs. 16. Alabama-Huntsville

    8. Bemidji State vs. 9. Yale

    East (Albany)

    2. Denver vs. 15. RIT

    7. Cornell vs. 10. Northern Michigan

    West (St. Paul)

    3. Wisconsin vs. 14. Vermont

    6. St. Cloud State vs. 11. New Hampshire

    Northeast (Worcester)

    4. Boston College vs. 13. Alaska

    5. North Dakota vs. 12. Michigan

I'd agree with that projection. Pretty clear-cut this year with no interconference matchups to mess up the standard seeding. One thing I wonder though is if the committee might swap New Hampshire and Michigan for attendance purposes. Another option to help attendance would be swapping New Hampshire with Northern Michigan. Either way would get New Hampshire out east and improve attendance at either of those regionals, plus bring one of the Michigan teams to St. Paul.

  3. I believe the only way we stay away from BC is if we are both #1 seeds or both #2 seeds.

I believe we can both be #1 seeds if we go 3-0, Wisco goes in the tank, and BC goes 2-0.

    If that happens, hello Albany.

I'm not so sure we'd be a guarantee for Albany in this scenario. If these events all happen, we have Miami, Denver, UND, & BC sitting 1-4. Miami goes to Ft. Wayne & BC goes to Worcester, but depending on the other matchups for Denver (Eastern teams) the committee could send Denver to Albany (since they fly anyway) if it helps attendance in that regional, and send UND to the X, along with St. Cloud, if they are a high 2 seed.

    Should be fun to watch.

  4. On another thread it has been posted that Tony Lucia signed a deal. I can't find any supporting evidence of this. I know he was drafted by the sharks late (like 6th round) and I don't think he was ever part of any trades. I don't see anything on USCHO, INCH, the Sharks site, their Worcester AHL affiliates site or their ECHL afiliates site.

I am not ripping him, and please don't turn this thread into Tony Lucia bashing. I am just looking for corroboration.

I would guess that he will play in the east coast league, but who knows.

  5. I'm the wrong one to ask; I just stumbled on the start of the replay of Friday night's game when I was resetting the VCR to tape the replay of Sunday night's game. I usually post on here to get a response from someone with a "guide." I'm not sure what that is exactly, but it must be a very credible source for TV listings.

What is this "VCR" thing you speak of?

  6. Sticking with my original prediction.

    7-2 Sioux

Scoring from all 4 lines. Trupp's shots finally start finding the net, just in time for the stretch run.

  7. And as far as the face value thing goes, my face value tickets came along with an extra $1100 donation price tag.

If you want to make sure to get your first round tickets for next year for "face value", join the Fighting Sioux Club. They could use your support.

    Bingo!

  8. I saw MacWilliam man the point on the power play with Olsen last year in Alberta. Granted, it's at an entirely different level, but he still looked very good when I saw him. He actually put up decent points for a d-man last season too.

  9. OK so here is my NERD take on where we stand.

The short answer is yes, we can quite easily move up. We are almost certainly going to lose comparisons to Denver, Wisconsin, and Miami, but we can still get a #1 seed with #4 overall. Right now we are 2 comparisons behind BC, and are losing 5 total. The three above and BC and Alaska.

I we flip the BC comparison we gain 2 and pass them up because we will likely have the better RPI. The TUC system is really dumb and arbitrary because there is a cutoff at 25. If you look, BC wins this but almost all of there wins are against the teams currently ranked 23-25. I would expect that some or all of these teams will slip (one of which is actually playing BC). Then UND very well could flip TUC, that matchup, and become #4 overall. If BC wins this weekend it helps the Sioux and if BC loses this weekend it helps the Sioux.

Alaska is in a similar situation where there just aren't many TUCs they have played. In Northern Michigan can eliminate Alaska this weekend, look for that comparison to flip.

Bottom line is that the Sioux likely control their own destiny for a #1 seed. This is important because I think that there are only 2 teams in the nation that can beat the Sioux if the Sioux play their best game. Denver and Wisconsin, that doesn't mean they will, but these are the class of the NCAA and if we get a #1 seed we can avoid them until Detroit.

My guess is that if UND wins out we will be the #1 seed in St. Paul.

Bottom line, people sitting in a smoke filled room SUCKS, PWR SUCKS less, KRACH rules and takes human bias out of the picture.

I agree with most of your analysis, except I don't see UND getting the St. Paul regional as the final #1 seed. It definitely depends on a few other things, but I see the committee sending us out East if we are fortunate enough to sneak into the #4 spot.

  10. A gopher win will help us in the COP comparison against the Badgers, but not enough to flip it. It might be just enough to keep the gophers as a TUC even after we sweep them. Can we recieve special dispensation to cheer for the gophers just for today? Or is that still right out.

This is one reason why the pairwise system is flawed. You sometimes have a situation in the first round of the playoffs where it is better for your PWR to beat a team in 3 games (to ensure they remain a TUC) as opposed to sweeping them in 2. My guess is that it may be the same way next weekend.

  11. I know this should probably go in the ticket forum, but since this thread is talking about the Frozen Four I thought I'd mention it here. I have a couple extra tickets available for the Frozen Four. They are located in section 241. Send me a PM if you have any interest and I can get you details.

  12. We're at 7th in the pairwise. It would be nice to stay out of Denver's bracket until the FF...I think we can handle Miami much easier. So I hope we stay above 8th...Let's not look past Tech next weekend, boys.

The pairwise rankings on siouxsports.com has us at #6.

  13. The Xcel Center will pay off the refs in the Gophers 1st round playoff matchup.

They can't afford to not have UMN at the F5.

So I say bring on CC instead. :)

This seriously scares me (the thought of facing UMTC). I remember the ridiculous officiating in Mankato a couple years ago when UMTC won the road series to make the Final Five.

  14. CC scores with extra attacker 3-2

Internet radio feed must be quite a few seconds behind however you are following the game. I read your post about 15 seconds before I heard Tim make the call.
