  1. Umm...
  2. Good post Sicatoka. I agree that defense isn't a concern this season, so having LaPoint go play in the USHL will be a good thing, as he can develop some experience. I still think that Marto will come to UND this fall, if anything just too add some depth to the d-corps and to get some WCHA experience for future years. Goaltending should be ok as well. We will see what happens with Parise. If he leaves, I am still confident in Lammy's ability, Hakstol would just have to find another goalie recruit before fall. Forward will be short next season. Hopefully we don't have too many injuries. I think that Genoway will see much more ice time as a forward than as a dman. I also think that they will bring in Trupp this fall. I think Spirko's leaving changed that decision. As far as Forney, I'm not sure. If Hakstol can manage to pickup a couple decent recruits from the BCHL, USHL, etc, then I see him going to the USHL for a season. If not, I think that he will come in the fall as well. If both Trupp and Forney come to UND this fall, that definitely leaves the cupboard a little bare for the 07-08 recruits. Hopefully Hakstol can get committments from some of the players that are being discussed in the potential recruits thread.
  3. Yes, yes it is.
  4. This off-season will never end. The Sioux will still be very talented despite all these early departures, but losing 4 or 5 of their best players in one off-season will definitely bring them back with the rest of the pack.
  5. So did Spirko, and we are still hearing the rumors about him going to Europe to play after the semester is over. Sometimes what players say, and what actually ends up happening, differs.

    NHL draft news

We can hope not! Let's hope that whoever drafts him wants him to stay in college one more year to gain a bit more muscle mass.
  7. Thanks for the link!
  8. Couldn't you have just posted this in the other 'Stafford making the jump thread'?
  9. GREAT post. Thanks!

So....how about that Sparky kid that plays for the Sioux? Any idea of what's going on with him?
  11. Good luck with the Sabres next season, Drew! And thanks for 3 great years with the Sioux. Let's hope that this is the last of the early departures this off-season, but something tells me we're not done yet...
  12. University of North Dakota Dakotans?
  13. I wouldn't mind the crap from Gopher fans, as long as David and Kelsey are lighting it up against them.
  14. If we even got 3 of those 5 players, I would be very excited. From what I have heard about Blood, he is a very good dman, with lots of potential. Would be great to get Mario, sounds like he plays with grit and an edge, much like Prpich. I like the smaller, quicker forwards like Tessier and Murray (and they are more prone to staying a few more years). From what I understand of Tessier and Toews, if we got one, we would be the definite frontrunner in getting the other (they seem to be best friends).

    NHL draft news

I was very surprised at the comment about EJ being "three years away". I can't even imagine how good that kid would be in 3 more years. He could legitimately play in the NHL next season IMO, but I still think that he goes to UMN for at least one season. I agree with RW77 about Toews being drafted by the Hawks. According to an earlier posted article, Chicago is looking to sign whichever forward that they take in the draft. Not good news if they happen to take Toews. We'll see what happens.
  16. Indeed. From what was said after this year's regional, it sounded like the REA was already looking at filling out the paperwork to get another regional there (even though the appeal is not decided on yet). The NCAA officials seemed to support the idea.
  17. Agreed.

    Spirko

I agree with you, that he came across as a loyal Sioux fan, but it is still hard to know for sure how reliable his source was being it was only his first post. If the Spirko rumor proves to be true, then he will have proven that his source is reliable.

    Spirko

If someone posts in their very first post important news about a player leaving, it is hard to know if they are a reliable source of information, or just a troll looking for bait. If someone that has an established record of reliable posts makes the same claim, it is easier to trust that info because they have proven to be trust-worthy in the past.

Are you stalking me on USCHO? Run-on sentences are fine. So is being a newbie. Being fishy is fine as well, as long as you don't smell like fish. The reason why I would believe Wilbur's source is because he has been correct in the past. I haven't seen enough posts from you here to know whether or not your source is correct or not. I am not best friends with Wilbur, but I have met him and played hockey with him in the past, so I know that I can trust him. I am not an English teacher. It does indeed look like your information might be accurate, and that will be a huge blow to the Sioux for next season if it ends up being true. I wonder if Forney will come in for sure now....

That is an unbelievable run-on sentence! Congrats! Are you and 8WBGR8 best friends?
  22. Haven't seen it posted here, but Mike Prpich picked up his first professional point the other night for the Iowa Stars, getting an assist on a Chris Conner (MTU) goal.
  23. How many brothers does Travis have?? Could we possibly see a steady pipeline of players coming from the Zajac family?
