  1. Went to HS school with Tyler Lehrke's dad - (BSU player who's in the penalty box)

I have it on good authority that Tyler's younger brother, Zach, would love to be a future Sioux player! He's having a great year playing hockey for Park Rapids this year!

I wouldn't get too excited. Obviously Zach has talent to put up those numbers, but they might have the worst schedule in MN.

  2. Who is the idiot responsible for playing the music at the home games these days. Would someone please explain to him that "All By Myself" gets played for the opposition's penalties, not a Sioux penalty.

The BSU player was on the jumbotron the whole time. I think they probably had it set up for the next break in play and it happened to be a UND penalty that stopped play.

  3. If that glass around the puck wouldn't show up well with a screen print, it would be like crossed sticks or something simple.

What about an outline of a hockey player with a target on him? Too borderline with some people?

  4. I would think Hit Squad on the front and Bleed Green on the back. jmo.

I'm down for almost anything if they are cheap and white. Hoping to go to at least a game in the POs and everything I have is green or grey.

  5. I'm sure everyone has the best of intentions here, but I agree with those who have expressed concern. The last thing that UND needs right now is anything negative. We've had more than our share of that already. If some unfortunate accident were to happen at one of the upcoming Sioux hockey games, a picture of fans wearing these shirts could show up on every sports page across the country. Also, I could see Mike Jacobs, David Gipp, His Horse is Thunder, Doreen YB, and every other far lefty using it against the Fighting Sioux logo debate.

Scrap the idea......just go out and cheer the Fighting Sioux onto #8 the rest of the year.

I don't see how Hit Squad is negative.

Doesn't every fan want to see their team go out and lay some big hits?

  6. This is becoming way too complicated like I feared. Someone else can organize this whole thing.

    Quitter

I think a logo is the only thing to worry about.

Seems like most like Hit Squad on the front.

Something like Fighting Sioux Hockey or UND Hockey on the back, not really a big deal what it is.

  7. It's sad that everyone seems to have an issue with everything. There's always someone who is claiming it's insensitive.

That being said, a few people did bring up some valid points and if nothing else, pointed out that the above mentioned people are out there and could cause attention that we don't want.

I actually do like the Hit Squad better and it would be sweet to have a logo showing a big hit but with a screen print and outline, it might be tough.

Maybe some slogan on the back like.....

    Fighting Sioux Hockey

If you're near the puck, be ready to duck

If you're on the attack, you'll end up on your back

Touch our net minda and Finley'll find ya

    You get the idea.

  8. I'd like a t-shirt with the words Goon Squad across the top and below it an outline of a big hit. Something that comes to mind is one of T.J.'s dropped shoulder mid ice checks.

    That would be sweet.

Or Thugs Inc with the outline of Kaip getting his revenge @ MSU.

  9. turris is a top player in the nation on a team that doesnt have much more and the coyotes will sign him the day sconnie is done this season and he will be up with the coyotes. oshie is the top college player followed by turris, jvr, porter, gerbe, jones isnt bad, duncan and a few more.

I agree that Turris is very talented, but based on the statement made, you'd think he's lighting the league on fire.

JVR was 10th on the list, Porter was mid-50s, no one else of real interest made the list as far as current players.

Some guys like Hensick and Teddy Purcell who are in their rookie years were on there.

  10. I used to respect Rotowire but this is what they had to say about a couple of guys.......

    Top 100 prospects

3 Kyle Turris (C, Phoenix Coyotes) Wisconsin freshman Turris has been as good as advertised. He has quickly become the best offensive player in college hockey.

7 T.J. Oshie (C, St. Louis Blues) Oshie is a superb offensive talent but undersized.

9 Kyle Okposo (RW, New York Islanders) Tough and physical. Okposo is a true power forward with tremendous desire.

21 Jack Skille (RW, Chicago Blackhawks) Fast and tough. Skille only needs more pro experience. Will become a very good player in time.

24 Mason Raymond (LW, Vancouver Canucks) AHL speedster Raymond has shown the potential of becoming an offensive force. Once he gains the consistency to match his skills his future pairing with the Sedins will be exceptional.

25 Blake Wheeler (RW, Phoenix Coyotes) Able to play both on wing and at center. Wheeler is big, physical and can move the puck well. Expected impact in 2009 could be huge.

65 Brian Lee (D, Ottawa Senators) Solid two-way player, Lee compares to a young Brian Leetch. He was an AHL All-Star this season. Lacks only experience to become a real NHL star.

88 Dan Irmen (RW, Minnesota Wild) Irmen is a spunky player who likes to mix it up. Has good upside but needs the right situation to excel.

98 Jamie McBain (D, Carolina Hurricanes) Good two-way defenseman for University of Wisconsin.

99 Brock Trotter (C, Montreal Canadiens) Trotter is a strong all-around player who left the University of Denver early and was signed by Montreal as a free-agent. The Canadiens have assigned him to Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

100 Blake Geoffrion (LW, Nashville Predators) "Boom-Boom" Geoffrion's grandson continues to show steady improvement during his second season at the University of Wisconsin.

The 2 bolded parts just make me wonder about their coverage of hockey prospects.

  11. ticket info per brad

    http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/

Ticket availability for remaining regular season games:

Saturday, Feb. 23 -- Bemidji State (3:37) -- Very limited available tickets.

    Sunday, Feb. 24 -- Bemidji State (3:37) -- 700 available tickets.

    Friday, March 7 -- St. Cloud State (7:37) -- 1,500 available tickets.

    Saturday, March 8 -- St. Cloud State (7:37) -- 700 available tickets.

The reason there are so many available tickets for the St. Cloud State series is because the students will be on spring break. So they did not receive tickets for this series in their season-ticket packages.

So are they gonna sell the student section cheap again?

  12. Don't bother with buying the video feed from DU's site tonight - they are using the FSSN feed and same media player service as fightingsioux.com and the video is just as choppy. That was a $8.95 gamble for me that failed.

I usually get it on either FSN for MN games or Charter Main St or Rocky Mt in Denver so I never bought the webcasts, but I figured signing up for the month got me 6 of the next 8 games, but then of course FSNRM had last night live.

Tonight is the first time I'm used the video since it was free last year and I'm NOT very happy.
