  1. I'm fairly certain that "Suze" is a she.
  2. Yep. Archibald holds the all-time Sioux records for career penalties (247) and career penalty minutes (540). He also had 75 goals and 69 assists during his four years at UND. Not bad for a goon.
  3. Ever hear of Jim Archibald?
  4. Rushing the net is what tennis players do. Crashing the net is what hockey players do.
  5. I agree. It's easy to say that Shepherd did a good job because the Sioux won handily, but there were an awful lot of penalties both ways that went uncalled. I've never seen a team get away with as much stick grabbing and holding as Duluth. And Brady Murray will either be worn out or in great shape for the Final Five after dragging along a Bulldog player every time he was on the ice.

Fox showed the play at least two times in slow motion. When it happened live, I saw the Maverick player do nothing that warranted a penalty. I watched the replay closely to see what he did to set Vanelli off. I didn't see him do anything that justified what Vanelli did to to him. At the very least, Vanelli deserved a double minor for roughing.
  7. For those who appreciate good penalty killing, the last penalty the Sioux killed in the third period (Fuher for high-sticking) was a thing of beauty. The Sioux simply manhandled the Bulldogs, knocking them off the puck, outworking them in the corners and finishing every check. I suspect that UMD's players were actually glad when the power play ended because they were physically dominated.
  8. I thought you were the one who always talks about rushing the net.

I happened to catch that particular play on TV at the Ralph. I, too, was amazed that Campion gave the Mankato player a penalty. As far as I could tell, the Land Cow player didn't do anything other than abuse the ice with his face.
  10. Virg was right.
  11. I certainly hope the Sioux play as bad tonight as they did on Friday.
  12. That'd be your best shot at winning.
  13. UND is 13-5-1 against UMD since Sandelin took over as head coach.
  14. Sandy was shaking his head after the game. He said he would start Reichmuth again tonight.
  15. You're right. A correction has been sent to USCHO. I misread the information in the Herald. Looks like I need a new pair of thick glasses.
  16. I was at the Ralph.
  17. At least you have good taste in beer. And your team got beat 8-2 by a team that's "not that good." I agree that UMD isn't as bad as the final score indicates. The one thing the Sioux did Friday night that they haven't done all season was bury their scoring opportunities. If they can continue to do that, they'll be a difficult team to beat in the playoffs.
  18. But is he a pre-Madonna? Except no subsititutes!
  19. I regret to inform you that your trusty pre-Madonna sudo-reporter will out of town during the Fighting Sioux coaches show on Wednesday. I'm letting everyone know now in hopes that someone will come forward to assume the enourmous responsibility of posting a show summary.
  20. Pre-Madonna Sudo-Reporter has a nice ring to it. Maybe I'll make that my new title.
  21. Great. Just great. Like I really needed my illusions shattered on a Monday.

    Final Five

I'm fairly certain that whichever team scores the most goals will come out on top.
  23. The Sioux had something to do with it, too. Where's the gratitude?

Based on the line combos I heard Hennessy give on the radio Saturday, I think it already has been.

    New Rival...

Friendly rivalry with UNO? I've been told that Behrns wasn't exactly well liked when he coached at UND. Plus, he and his team have pulled some stunts since then that didn't sit well with Sioux coaches, players or fans. I also have the impression that UNO is one of the biggest trash talking teams in the NCC. Friendly rivalry indeed.
