To my knowledge, no. I wish people would stop making accusations that they can't back up with facts.

From the Associated Press: University of North Dakota moving ahead with nickname appeal

How did this thread turn into a Kupchella vs. Chapman discussion? It doesn't belong in this thread, let alone this forum.

This is a followup to my earlier post. A Hockey's Future moderator deleted the posts that copied the coaches' show summaries from this board. I'm a happy camper now.

I thought Lennon said the missed assignment was on one of the TD passes to Denney.

Let this be a lesson to all of us about posting offensive hockey statistics.

Phil Harmeson said yesterday during the roundtable discussion at the union that the second appeal would be ready for submission "very soon."

I want to bring something to everyone's attention before my fingers lock up and I can no longer type for the day. For the past two weeks, a Sioux fan has copied and pasted my Fighting Sioux Coaches' show summaries to a Hockey's Future message board. The disclaimer was not included and no attribution was listed referencing the source of the material. While it probably was not the intention of the person who did this, copying and pasting my work without attribution is the same as plagiarism and I take a very dim view of it. In addition, there is no mention of the fact that this is not a comprehinsive, verbatim transcript, but a paraphrased summary of highlights. Treating the summaries in this manner invites their misuse, which can get the coaches and radio show hosts in trouble. That's why I include the disclaimer on every show summary I post. That being said, I am not against people reposting my coaches' show summaries as long as they: Ask for and receive my permission Give me credit Include the text of the disclaimer Of course, it's much easier to avoid all this by simply posting a link to the summary on SiouxSports.com. I don't understand why people don't do that instead of copying and pasting the text. I have attempted to contact Hockey's Future, the HFBoard moderator and the person who posted my summaries. So far, I have not heard from any of them and the two posts have not been removed. I hate to say this, but if neither Hockey's Future nor the person who posted my summaries takes them down, I will stop writing the summaries and posting them here. I know it's not fair to punish everyone for the actions of few, but I am not going jeopardize the Sioux hockey coaches or those associated with the radio program just because some people refuse to abide by common courtesy and follow a few simple rules.

And that's the point. The other teams don't know about any of that stuff, nor do they care. All they see and hear is the atmosphere once they get here and how it compares to other arenas in which they play. They know that UND always has a terrific fan turnout. But we sit here and complain about the building and point fingers at each other about who's cheering and who's not, as if it makes one bit of difference to the opposition. It doesn't.
-
How is it that the players and coaches of opposing teams always consider The Ralph a more difficult place to play and win than Sioux fans do?
-
That is incorrect.

The situation changed between when Paukovich said he'd fight if jumped and Saturday night. Denver had lost three forwards by then to injuries and couldn't afford to lose any more. My guess is that Gwozdecky's instructions to Paukovich changed from "fight if attacked" to "don't fight under any circumstances."

UND vs. Wisconsin Games @ Joe Sensor's In Bloomington This Weekend
PCM replied to Yttrium's topic in Men's Hockey
No, no, no! You're supposed to beat him up! -
I believe your question is answered in the story.

I'm sure the NCAA has no illusions about controlling the curses of individual fans. But UND's claim of using the Sioux name with "utmost dignity and respect" starts looking a tad silly when Sioux fans engage in organized obscene cheers that can be heard throughout the arena and over the air waves.
-
All you need to remember regarding the obscence chants is that the NCAA is watching.

I'm not having problems with PMs or posts, but starting sometime yesterday, I noticed that it takes forever for the main SiouxSports.com page to load. Anyone else seeing this?
-
It is newsworthy, but when considered in the context of Kupchella's comments on Hot Talk last week, those who interpret this study as being a sign that UND will soon move to DI aren't seeing the big picture.

It was an accurate quote of Gwozdecky. He didn't think it was that bad after last night's game. He found out later that the injury was worse than originally expected.

Gwozdecky confirmed tonight that Trotter was done for the season because of damage to the Achilles tendon, as well as some muscle groups. He said that Trotter won't be able to skate again for 8 months minimum. The DU game notes said Trotter was in surgery for more than two hours last night.
