  1. Great kickoff return for NDSU. The Bison don't know that they're the underdogs.
  2. Minnesota just can't move the ball on the ground against NDSU's defense. Gophers kick a 31-yard field goal after the fumbled punt return to tie it 3-3.
  3. End of the first quarter, it's NDSU 3, Minnesota 0.
  4. NDSU forces Minnesota to punt, then fumbles the ball on the return.
  5. Minnesota finally stops NDSU with an interception off a deflected pass. The Bison had a good drive going.
  6. NDSU is kicking butt right now.
  7. NDSU leads 3-0. There goes Sid's prediction.
  8. Sorry, but it is a young team.
  9. That's exactly what I was thinking. Last night, Maine looked as good as Wisconsin did when the Badgers swept the Sioux at home early last season. Let's not forget that UND is a young team with a different makeup from last season. Maine is a team with a quite a few juniors and seniors. That difference showed Friday night.
  10. No, I'm not native to this specific area, but I visited Grand Forks many times before we moved here in 1992. While I do miss the neighborhoods along the river, there's no way that I'd go back to pre-flood Grand Forks.

  12. You're kidding, right?
  13. A football field and the west bleachers. What more do you need?
  14. Shhhhhh!!!
  15. You mean the same NCAA "model institution" that recently received an "F" from the Black Coaches Association for its minority hiring practices?
  16. You think, but you don't know. The support for UND keeping the Fighting Sioux nickname is very strong throughout the WCHA, as well as the college hockey world. The one school that's been vocal in its opposition is SCSU. Even with Roy Saigo as president, that university never took an official position on the issue.

  19. Welcome to the first wireless-posted version of the Fighting Sioux Coaches Show! From the Green Mill, Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman are the hosts with Sioux hockey coach Dave Hakstol. TH: The Sioux hockey team is back from Wisconsin and a split with the Badgers. The Maine Black Bears are coming up this weekend. That
  20. I didn't know what time period you were including in your "recent history" comment. My point is that if the Sioux struggle at home early this season, but finish strong as they did last season, so what? I'd trade a few early season home losses for a trip to the Frozen Four any day. I just don't think success at home means that much at this point in the season, especially when playing a good team such as Maine. The 2002-2003 Sioux team went undefeated at home until Feb. 28. Then, after barely making the WCHA Final Five, they were bounced from that tournament after one game by UMD and bounced out of the NCAA playoffs after one game by Ferris State. Early success at home doesn't translate into a strong finish. I'd love to see the Sioux sweep Maine at the Ralph this weekend. But if they get a split of even (heaven forbid) get swept, it's not the end of the season.
  21. True, but they ended with a 15-9-0 record at home, a winning percentage of .600. That included being 4-1 at home when it really counted -- during the playoffs against MSU-Mankato, Michigan and Holy Cross. With as many freshmen as the Sioux played last season, their home ice record could have been much worse. Do you count all of last season or just the part that supports your point? Do you forget about the past five seasons or just the part of one season that supports your point?
  22. Lord, I apologize for that. I will say 15 "Hail Parises" and allow Madonna to adopt my youngest child.
  23. Yeah. He screwed up UND all the way to a WCHA championship.
  24. Yes. Parise split time with Jake Brandt his freshman season. He split time with Lamoureux his sophomore season. He didn't become the No. 1 regular season goalie until his junior season -- just like Phil.
