I don't think this will matter as much as some think. Before this rule changed, a puck off the skate could be counted if it wasn't directed into the net intentionally. So it's not as if all goals off skate deflections will now count when they were never counted in the past.
Under the old rule, the ref had to make a judgement call about a player's intent, which is rather difficult to do. I saw goals counted that I didn't think should have and other goals waved off that I thought should have counted.
All the ref has to decide under the new rule is whether a deliberate kicking motion was made, which is similar to the NHL rule. If it hasn't been bad for the NHL, I can't see it being bad for college hockey.
