  1. Both the USCHO and CHN PWR calculators seem broken to me in a way that harms the appearance of UMD's chances. That said, yzerman19 is spot on -- Ferris losing is a critical component (though not by itself sufficient) of UMD's most obvious route into the tournament.

now that we have disposed of them, i do hope they get in to the ncaas, because even with rwd as a fan, i still root for the dogs when we aren't playing them. on a side note, i am glad you like math jim, because its alot easier when you figure the pwr out and just tell us what we need to know

  2. What about if I have no comment?

Like I said very early on, the Chapmans were very nice to the Jewish Community in Fargo. Legit or not, we've struggled for years.

I don't like what he did to NDSU and perhaps, by extension, the state of ND, but I'm not ready to go any further than that.

you are entitled to your opinion, or lack there of, i am just honestly interested in how this will transpire. i have NO info on this topic other than what i get here and in the news. if he did some good while he was here, like you stated helping the jewish community, then i am glad that he hopefully left a positive impact somewhere, because i don't think after this all shakes out, that even the most avid ndsu supporter will be looking at joe's years with much positive light. the real question is how far will his discresions trickle down, and how long until ndsu can get back on track financially?

  3. very skeptical a high end steak house can/will survive in this location. i wish them the best, but it sure seems a sports bar with a nice expanded menu would do best here... im with the rest of you on that one. since we're on the topic, why doesn't the fargo moorhead area have a nice sports bar with lots of big tvs and a nice menu? sensors, fargo location... it would kill... the only competition would be bww, and they make a killing with a horrible menu.

  4. Anyone want to set the over/under on how many shots I need to stick the 17th green at the Stadium course. Already told myself I'm going "Tin Cup" until I stick one!

considering you are from nd and probably havent played since november... i say set it at 2 and i'll take the over :silly: that's probably the most fun hole to watch on tv as all the pros hit a 150 yd shot and then pray it stays on. i'll be teeing off ocotillo in an hour and a half... want to set the over/under on how many balls it will take to finish the round :silly: probably not the smartest choice for the first round of the season.

  5. i agree on the band. games arent the same when the students are gone and the band isnt there. lets be loud this weekend and finish em in two! we will be at rtosullivans in mesa friday watching the game az if you make it down... i need to quit taking vacation during playoff week :silly:

  6. Hopefully by the end of the current decade oil will be relatively worthless from lack of demand.

ok, i'll bite  i'll make a wager with you... if oil consumption in the US is down say 3/4 by 2020 (making it "relatively worthless" as you say), then i will no longer post here on ss.com. now if US oil consumption is down only 1/2 (still viable, not worthless :) ), or even stays steady, then you leave? it's like a ten year game of russian roulette, except i know which chamber holds the bullet :) now, i've said many times in these discussions that alternative energy souces need to be used and improved upon, but unless someone pulls the rabbit out of a hat (hydrogen cell technology say), i don't see the US significantly reducing its oil use.

  7. Not sure how his PCS occurred, but Rylan Kaip also ended the season from the stands due to a concussion..

i believe kaip had multiple concussions from practice and/or games that he tried playing through, and ended up worsening the situation. i don't believe there were any dirty hits associated with his pcs.

  8. 3 out of 4 teams in semis from the west... good for the west and good for nd hockey! agree about bhs and century continuing to be strong programs. minot is still a HUGE enrollment and will not be splitting, which with alot of the bigger areas splitting up will be a big advantage. and don't sleep on williston... they are building a strong program and have one heck of a coach at the helm. hey, they could be in the championship saturday. the question still remains, who if anyone can beat central?

  9. Williston tallies two ENGs and wins 4-1.

No GF Red River at the tournament.

Fargo South out of contention by 5 pm Thursday.

    Mercy.

the no red river at the tourney... i'm with you on the mercy, that's one hell of a streak that got broken.

williston over south... im not that surprised. williston has a veteran tested goalie who played fantastic today. and the leading scorer and best player this year in the state of nd, jordan neslon tallied 2 goals and 2 assists to get in on all 4 williston goals. im sure all the east siders will give me a laundry list of players who are better, but you won't convince me. he's got size, speed, grit and can flat out score. i love the fact that we will see at least one west team in the championship this year.

im also with the majority here that central will be a tough team to beat, they have a very solid team.

  10. if you are a diehard caps fan, i guess i get it, but otherwise the crosby hate i don't get. i know it comes with being an elite player, there are those who hate on ovi too, but as the previous poster said... crosby is one of the best, he is being used to promote the game, which is smart and much needed. i know the media and commentators go overboard about him sometimes, but is that his fault? i just am glad i get to see players like ovi and crosby and toews... it reminds me of days when super mario was dominating :D yes i was a pens fan in my younger days, but to be honest with you, i follow our sioux alum more than any one team these days. go parise and USA!!

  11. i watched bits and pieces of the usa men's game on www.nbcolympics.com yesterday and wow, what a great picture. for those of you who don't get the alternate channels that carry olympic stuff, or during the day at work like me, a great option.

  12. End of 2nd period. 6-0 lead.

Let's play smart and not get anyone hurt in the final 20 minutes. And no game DQ's either; we have Duluth at home next weekend and we need all hands on deck.

Hexy and knight are back, I say if we lose a guy 4 a game to rectify such a cowardly cheap shot on our all american captain, then so be it! Keep it up sioux!!!

  13. We lose Blais, then the Name, then the Ralph gets imploded, & the Red River begins to flow South & Fargo gets flooded off the Map one out of 4 aint bad :glare:

too bad the one you want to happen is the one (of two i guess) that isn't going to happen. blais may go elsewhere (oh wait he is elsewhere) but he MAY go to the goofs, it makes sense, but i'm not sure it will happen now, it may happen sometime and sioux fans need to come to grips with that. the name is gone... i don't like it, neither do many ss.com posters and sioux fans, but it is a done deal. ok the ralph won't be imploded, the ralph will be there if blais goes to the goofs and when the name is gone. and the red won't flow south, but reguardless of north or south, fargo will be in danger of flooding until a permanent flood solution is in place, but not sure why a north dakotan would wish ill will on a fellow city? i have never got that, never will. i grew up out west, now live outside of fargo, and think this animosity towards other nd cities is infantile at best. we should support the state of nd, all of us, because noone else will. us out east should support the oil boom that is COMPLETELY supporting our state in this economy right now, its the main reason nd is one of what, three states not in the red? the rest of the state should be proud of fargo, and the fact that it has been one of the most successful cities in the entire US in our lifetime. and all of us should support each other, from the rural cities like kulm or watford city that struggle to stay viable in a society that does not coalese to small town USA, to our "big" cities like fargo and gf and minot and bismarck that get us through when we need it, to the cities like jamestown or williston or dickinson that are struggling to stay alive in the middle (stay the bakken reserve). back to the topic at hand, don't know if it will happen this year, but wouldn't be surprised if blais ends up back in minny.

  14. There are alot of college players in the game Chicago/St Louis.

good game too. toews with a goal and an assist in chicago's 2-1 win. osh with an assist in the loss.

matt greene the offensive machine with an assist in la's comeback win.

  15. jim is fairly tolerant, and a majority of posters here support the sioux nickname and logo, but people who are not are not kicked off because of that belief. now if they do something worthy of being banned, and they are nickname opponents, does that mean that jim and ss.com are discriminatory against them? i am not sure why you post on this board detroit, as you seem to be very negative about this site and board and its rules, but the rules apply to everyone. opinions are welcome... as jim stated, difference of opinion can be a good and productive thing if kept civil.
