  1. You cannot consume adult beverages at NCAA events.

Not completely true, were in a suite, and will have booze and food. There will be no alcohol sales in the concourses though! Sioux fans will have to hit up the st Paul bars before the games, speaking of, where are the places to go by the x?

Btw, didn't mean to + your post, meant to hit reply. Go Sioux!

  2. To respond to all the Genoway talk... he is not one of our best defensive dmen... we have Blood, Mac and Forbort who do that very well. He is a puck mover, it is an integral part of a team, and a major downfall of alot of teams who spend too much time in their defensive zone. A player like Genoway will become even more valuble during this playoff run, BUT I think that we need to roll 6 dmen all game. Don't start double shifting, we don't need to, we have 6 VERY good defensemen (actually 8, but whos counting ;) ) . And though I've been a Genoway supporter all along, I can't disagree that the PK isn't his strong suit. We have guys like Mac, Blood, Lapoint, etc. who thrive on the PK, so lets use that depth. I think there are a few keys that will keep the Sioux playing for 4 more games...

-play the game that's got 30 wins so far, don't change what you are now. Play solid defensively in front of Dell, he will make the stops he needs to, limit the opportunities. Play the hard, aggressive forcheck/cycle that keeps offensive zone time, wears down the opponent, and has worked all year to create plenty of offense.

-stay out of the box. the Sioux will get their penalties, don't take the ill advised, stupid ones to add to it. the Sioux are better than ANYONE 5x5, the more of that the better.

-seniors keep leading. this group of seniors has lead by example more than any I have seen in recent memory. if the Sioux are to keep rolling, the seniors need to keep dominating.

Go Sioux!!! Lets get a couple of big wins this weekend so I don't have to watch a bunch of teams I don't like at the X!

  3. I was robbed of the Troll award. I asked this question in all seriousness and it gets made into a joke. Is this because all of you great hardcore fans don't know the answer?

apparently some are a little touchy during the playoffs, you know those damn hockey superstitions :D but to answer, i would bet the money in my checking account they won't worry about this until after the season is over.

  4. You have 3 very solid teams in Mn, Wi and Michigan (although Mn has been on a downslide the past 3 years), you have a team who is up and down in Mich. St., a team yet to be a threat in Ohio St. and a new team in Penn St. In my opinion, that does not make a very good conference, and a 6 team conference is iffy anyways. I'm sure they have already had a conversation about the autobid (I think the rule is you only need 6 teams to get an autobid?). It will be very interesting to see how these schools fill their schedule. If they play each other home and home, thats 20 games, which leaves another 20 non-conference to fill. I'm not a fan of the bthc, but it is a reality. The WCHA will move on, adding teams or not. The CCHA, if we took ND and Miami, would be fataly wounded. I don't want to see the CCHA fold due to this, so not sure what will happen. Oh, and go Sioux!!!

  5. A little pre final 5 fun. This is in no way to slight any Sioux player, but with all the guys who have filled in admirably this season, what's our best, strongest roster? Assuming everyone can go.

First two lines don't change, pony express and our "second" line that tops most first lines.

third line? Nelson, Kristo, Rodwell... Big if that Kristo to can go, but still think he can be a game changer, and on a third line with those two could be lethal.

I personally like Davidson, Lammy and Rowney as our energy line. Lammy and Rowney are solid, and have really like Davidson in the second half.

That leaves Dicken, Cichy, Gleason and Bruno out, tough call.

I think our top 6 dmen are Genoway, Blood, Mac, Marto, Forbort and a toss up between Lapoint and Simpson. Lapoints a senior and won't sit, so probably Simpson odd man out.

Damn that's a tough lineup! Go Sioux!

  6. now thats your textbook trolling right there... and it looks like he even snagged a few. not even the most idiotic of bison fans would truly think a high school team could take the #1 college hockey team in the nation to the brink in a 3 game series, or even one game. best advice to all, sioux fan or not, just don't go to bisonville, you will become dumber by association

  7. We're not. Patterson will be in the nets both nights this weekend. :)

And even your "best" goalie in the league might not be enough to get you in the ncaas. At least your not underachieving with a team full of draft picks! :0

  8. 90% of ciskies ballot is ok, but he's obviously got a boner for und, because theres no way frattins not a first teamer and the poty, and theres no way gregoire doesn't make any of the teams (really??), and no way dell doesn't make any of the teams... but hey, little sisters always jealous :D haters gonna hate... just sad he actually gets a vote that counts.

  9. First Team:

Frattin, M. Connolly, Gregoire, Shultz, Faulk and Dell

    Second Team:

    J. Connolly, Zucker, Shore, Genoway, Olimb and Patterson

    Third Team:

Knight, Fontaine, Schwartz (wanted to put Abroz in, but schwartz deserves it even in limited action), Donovan, Marto and Brittian

    POTY: Frattin hands down

Rookie: would have been schwartz' hands down had he been healthy, but goes to zucker

Coach: Hak... our two best players were out for significant time, we plugged holes and kept trucking, and our two time all conference goalie was replaced and we still managed to win the league by 6!

  10. i think we all just got trolled by lomak... he kept this thread at the top of the page even if it is just in jest  btw, did he really reply to the same response with two different posts?? go back under the bridge now so we can resume our normally scheduled programming  and my two cents... i heard that hak told blais and gino that chelios was a hack and that is why he went to wisconsin!

  11. Kristo last year?

i forgot about kristo last year. don't know how, he had a great tourney. and i'm not sure about the rumors of creating a roster to combat one other teams roster. canada has a great wjc team every year, that hasn't changed. canada still has the deepest crop of stars to pluck from. what has changed is that usa hockey has progressed greatly in the last decade. i think canada is always going to be one of the teams to beat, but believe me when i say that canada better be just as aware of this usa team as we are of them. and i believe there are a few other teams in this tourney that might have a thing or two to say about it before its all said and done.

  12. Could it be the size thing again?

not a size thing, an age thing i would imagine. the usa coaches put together a team with age, grit and experience. i don't think it is to combat the team canada put together, i think it is the team the usa considers gives it the best chance of winning. we are the defending champs, not canada this year, with our winning goalie back and 4 ahlers (some with considerable nhl experience). morin being sent back to the ahl and allowed to go come to the wjc is probably what did rocco in. by all accounts he is dynamic, but he would have been the youngest AND smallest player on the team. he will be representing his country the next couple of years. should be a hell of a tournament. hopefully this experience springboards nelsons second half, we have definately seen glimpses of his skill, but as some have said earlier, just too easy to take off the puck (he should talk to vandy about that :D ). lets go USA!!! good to have some great hockey to watch over the holidays!!! will be nice to have some boys come back with the gold... not since parise, stafford and murray right? prediction... usa wins gold on home ice, forbort is a force and makes all tourney team!!

  13. Future home? What did I miss?

nothing.... the same talk winnipeg has had since the jets left. they want an nhl team again, there isn't one to be had currently. i personally would love winnipeg to get a team again someday, but its not happening anytime soon.

  14. So for next year, we have Gregoire v2 (St. Clair), Gerbe v2 (Grimaldi), and VandeVelde v2 (Miller) coming in.

Not to mention O'Donnell and MacMillian, who are both putting up great points as well.

    I'll take that!

those are 3 pretty big pairs of shoes to fill... if st clair is anywhere near the player that gregoire is, we will be in for a treat. that dude is an animal, and hope he gets healthy soon, we are a different team with him on the ice. but it has been nice to see the seniors step up with all the injuries.

  15. Don't expect it to be a real good broadcast. It's produced by one of the other colleges in town and has students running the broadcast. I watch a bunch of games on it each year, but it's certainly not as high of quality as you guys are used to. It's still better than nothing though.

most webcasts these days are pretty good quality, but on the rare occasion that the feed is horrible, or the server can't keep up and everyone keeps getting booted or locked up, there is nothing wrong with listening to th and following on schlossmans blog, at least its something. we have our office christmas party tonight, so will have to survive on txt updates unfortunately.

  16. Amazing, and one certain poster here said it sounded totally dead on TV, presumably due to all the old geezers/fogeys/farts buying the tickets.

come on, didn't you know that it can only be a great atmosphere if everyone is 3 sheets to the wind and screaming obscenities :silly: although i will admit there were times early in the new ralph that it was pretty quiet, i guess we just ignore the fact that coaches and players (ours and opposing) say that this is one of the toughest barns to play in the last few seasons, in part to the fan support. i think our fans are passionate and knowledgeable, that doesn't mean we have to be screaming obscenities and throwing beer on people.

  17. Forbort won't be here long that kid is awesome. JMHO...

forbort is great, but how many defensemen are nhl ready at 20, after 2 years of college? i'm not slighting forbort at all here, he is a dude, but it takes more time for defensemen to be nhl ready. maybe just wishful thinking on my part we might have him here for 3 years, but definately wouldn't be surprised if he was gone after 2 (I would be very surprised if he was gone after this year).

gregoire is probably the most nhl ready, he is our most complete player, but maybe this injury keeps him here another year? and i could definately see blood being gone after this season.

frattin will be playing for the leafs, hopefully not until next season, as someone said their season should be done as the boys are skating around with the national championship trophy :D but dude has got a laser shot, hes fast and physical, and the leafs desperately need a scorer like him.

hopefully the boys get healthy (especially gregs mystery injury, hopefully no pcs, the sioux have not had a good history with that  )

#8 the last year as the sioux!!

  18. on the genoway topic... it has less to do with how he performs in the offensive zone. it is about how he transitions out of our defensive zone. he may not be the intimidating defensive force that a blood or macwilliam are, but only marto can rival how effortlessly he can move the puck OUT of our zone, which is something that may not be sexy, but it a crucial ability to have in a defensive pairing. and yes, he will not be playing forward, which tells you how the coaches feel about having him on the blueline.
