Yes, as far as the way certain words are used. Having a customer service type person in your company calling everyone "chief", is not a good idea.

If you went Pine Ridge, and were not a Native American. Would you walk around and call everyone that you met "Chief", and feel comfortable about it?

Now that sounds like a racial slur, even though it was unintentional. Why did Morningside change it's school nickname from Maroon Chiefs.

So much for ratings. Anoka took care of Roseville and Holy Angels in the State Tourney. Ratings tend to be slanted toward offense. Anoka was very physical with the teams they played. They were the first team to hold Roseville to less than 2 goals all year. Central could have been competitive. They would have been a good sectional team in AA, maybe not a state champion. Of course playing tougher competition in the Twin Cities over a season would have made Central better.

How can anyone say anything bad about Billy Mills, he is an Icon. His Olympic victory is right up there with 1980 Hockey team in my book. His story has inspired many people.

I never said it was fair. The most important part of the selection process went NDSU's way - The Selection Committee.

The Bison lost to Northern State (20-9), so they were probably behind them and maybe Omaha. Fort Lewis must have made it by finishing first in the Western Division of the RMAC. Also it helps to have the defending National Champion in your conference.

I am not going to argue with you. I just gave my opinion on what I thought the committee was basing their choice on. If the NCC teams did not play each other, they would be ranked much higher. All four in the top five. I do not think seeding matters much, unless it is the #1 seed. I think SDSU should get the #1 seed. The Bison did better than expected this year. They were picked 17th in the pre-season pole.

Based only on the conference tourney, UND should have a higher seed. They did get an automatic bid. Looks like automatic bid does not equal higher seed.

The UND Loss to UMD was big. NDSU's only non-conference loss was to the #1 team in the Nation, Seattle-Pacific. None of the Bison losses came to a team rated lower than #11 in the final pole. The Bison also had a win against #3 Bentley College and regional team Concordia-St Paul, and #24 Western Washington. A tougher non-conference schedule than UND. I am not sure what else they look at but that may be what influenced the committee. If you base it solely on "Hot Team" and conference tourney, then UND would have a higher seed.

I think we are talking about the same thing, just coming from different angles. Sometimes people with big bucks feel like they own the place, and with the help of a little alcohol, can act that way. Also some of them give tickets to their kids, or friends etc, leading to a similar incident. The threat of losing your season ticket privileges, Lambeau Field Rule, would help reduce the chances even more.

Nothing is ever easy. This one would work: Would this be visiting students or visiting "TeamMaker-like" fans sitting here? Were any TeamMaker-Like people in the involved with the crowd where the taunting was going on? I have seen lots of adults misbehave at sports events. At Lambeau Field they announce to the crowd that anyone that is disorderly and is removed from the game, permanently loses their season ticket privileges. I rarely see people being escorted out of a Packer game.

They play in a tough conference with Roseville, Hastings etc. Roseville happens to be their first round game. Hastings has some good players coming up. Dan Welch's brother Joe, Marc Chorney's son and a couple more.

Going to be at the Xcel today for the State Hockey Tourney. Are there any UND recruits playing on the AA side. I think the winner of the first game will be the favorite. Holy Angels or Moorhead.

I do not endorse everything NDSU does. But Bison fans this, and Bison fans that, covers a large range of people. Is there not a movement on the UND campus to change the UND nickname? I do not think the statement that "UND fans want their nickname changed" would apply to all UND fans. PC has gone to far, I think common sense should prevail. The Majority on both sides probably lean that way.

Do you have an official account of what happened. Reading the Forum article, it says the UND coach pushed Miller, The Herald says the UND coach was touched. The Forum and the Pioneer Press says "Hey coach, nice afro" was the comment. What did the Herald say that the comment was?

I know a person that dated Spike Lee's wife when she lived in the Milwaukee area, and before she met Lee. He has no ties to NDSU or UND, and said he would never live in ND. He said if that comment "Nice Afro" was all that was said, people are being too sensative. But of course we were not there, and do not know the whole story from both sides.
