can someone explain how of all people REGGIE MILLER doesn't point out the fact that he scored 8 points in 9 seconds in a playoff game and the nuggests just say f it and give up down 7 with 20 some seconds left in a playoff game?

    rigged.

Some teams pull the plug early when there’s still a slim chance. I don’t get it.

Good that apps are up.  Bad that we tore down a bunch of dormitories without new housing in place.

I remember some dorms being torn down but don’t remember the details.  Which ones are gone?

The position coach left the school.  I think it is perfectly natural to look around.  He found a fit with two coaches he previously worked with in Rouse and Freund and the school offered programs that applied toward his interests.  He gave the new coach a chance and it wasn't a fit.  He was respectful to the program when he left.  He completed an interview in the largest media market in the State.  He was thankful for the opportunity.  I don't understand the issue.  It's change.

He certainly can do whatever he wants and good for him. My statement was how I’d see it and what I think I’d do.  Whether in college or in a job after college.

I like this perspective. I have had some conversations with the family over the years. So when something like this happens, of course I'm going to get nosy. From what I understand, the kid loved his Coach Pawlek. When the coach left, Borud was a for sure leave. Hagen wanted to try stick it out. Local kid, big family close etc. But the new hire was admittedly a 'quick hire'. Hagen thought his development was being slowed down during spring ball. The interview with Dom said he had the what-if conversation with his parents. Maybe he jumped ship too early and didn't give the new coach the old college try. But, he's 20. He probably has big dreams. Did he think he was better than FCS? IDK. Does he sacrifice his development to become a legend?

But, looking at the big picture. He was recruited during Covid with no other offers. Farm family kid going to a non-ag business school. At the end of his football career, he will go back to the farm. SDSU will give him the agriculture education he will use for life on the farm. As far as money, a full ride was offered. Nothing else more...other than some perks like a free meal from local restaurants.  I know it looks bad for UND, but I don't really blame the kid.

For me - being recruited with no other offers - would reason #1 why I’d stay.  They believed in him and gave him a shot when others didn’t.  For me that would deserve some loyalty in return. I know it’s not done that way much anymore

If they actually said that it shows how out of touch they are.   Groups that tailgate together buy multiple sites for tents, trailers, buses, etc.   There might be 5 or 10 or more people\families  affiliated with one tailgate setup.   If they put up a tent, or haul a trailer, they obviously need a spot to park the vehicle that hauled those things.   If you have 10 or more people bringing food, beverages, games, chairs, flags, etc. to tailgate as part of that group, they obviously want - and have historically paid for nearby separate sites to park their vehicles close to their particular tailgate setup.   Yes, the many parked cars could appear to be "non tailgaters" but if they are parked many hours before game time, they are likely part of a tailgate group.    Plus, why should UND or the Alerus care about your intentions for purchasing a spot?   Shouldn't that be the goal?  A full lot of paid for spots?   Their logic is baffling.   I think its going to have the opposite effect and  make some think twice about purchasing spots, and possibly game tickets.

Tailgating renewal said there will be changes to tailgating for next year. Any rumors on what is planned?  Tying spots to champions club donor levels?

I realize this is just a one-off comment, but this assumes that Bubba has tailgating police reporting to him because he certainly is never in the tailgating area. Also pretty sure they won Tailgater of the Game at least once. Third I frequented there and never saw anything close to being " partying too hard", often saw UND staff and player's parents stopping by.

I randomly stopped by and chatted with them in the middle of the year.  They had a big group, big setup and lots of food.  Couldn't have been nicer to me.  One relative made laser cut keychains with the different UND logos from over the years.  He made sure I got a couple of the ones we used when I played and a few others too.

Nothing going on with them that wasn't happening at a majority of the other tailgate parties. Maybe more effort into the food spread. Turkey dinner, venison steaks wrapped in bacon, etc.  After that I stopped by to say hi every week.

Greyson Uelmen commits I believe this is a PWO.

Good get. He can really shoot it when he gets going.  His hs teammate Andy Stefanowicz is very solid player headed to NDSU.

So we covered the cost of his tuition for a semester and got nothing out of it. If the coaches told him he wouldn't play that is one thing, but given our need to find safeties...what is the likelihood of that?

Article in the Herald hinted said he might have been pretty far down on the depth chart based on the reps he got in spring ball.  He then got hurt and missed the last part of camp.

    Per Tom Miller's Article -

"Based on when Martens' snaps came during the spring practices, though, it appeared he initially was in a deep group of safeties hoping to break into the two-deep....................

During spring ball, UND started Cole Davis and Ethan Ball at safety, with the next round of reps given to Sutton, Martin, Erkman and Martens."

    Then why was he offered?

Quite possible they learned more about his abilities once they saw him for multiple hours at practice vs. some film previously

*Except the other Dakota schools or Montana

Otherwise, a great point that needs to be highlighted. Between Graduation / Portal departures this winter, ISU-Blue, UNI, Murray & Youngstown were decimated. All things considered, UND made it through the winter portal relatively unscathed. Spring portal is a different animal, unfortunately, UND's two losses so far might break the offense. Not sure if the four teams I mentioned had any type of big losses this Spring as well.

Montana quarterback Clifton McDowell transferred to Temple in January and is transferring again to McNeese St.

That will be his 6th school in 6 years.  He also committed to Southern for a couple weeks somewhere in his journey but never went there.

I'm guessing that 7 was a typo and was meant to be a 6 because there is absolutely no chance Morgan is getting even remotely close to that amount from Nebraska.

He is a goofball and mispronounces names all the time so it’s very possible.  On the screen it did show $700k as the price for Payne.

  13. I don't like the paying for a playoff game either.  The only positive I can come up with is maybe if they know they have that base for ticket sales for a playoff game it makes it easier to bid to host.

Do tailgate spots pay an additional game day parking fee?

what was general parking last year 10 or $15 a game so was probably more per game than tailgating

7 home games this year so it’s $14.28 per game for a tailgate spot

no additional cost for parking if you have a tailgate spot.

If UND Football was a movie it would be Ground Hog's Day, some ups and downs and nuances throughout but we are stuck, over and over again we enter another off season with underwhelming talent, development, and coaching.  On top of that when UND does develop a player that is recognized nationally the new normal is another school gives him $150,000 to transfer, edging out his next offer of $50,000 and pick of any truck on the lot.  College football is lawless and declining.  Big name Coaches are leaving.  Soon FCS will be a pure development league for FBS.  I understand the frustration with UND and with college football in general, hanging by a thread myself.

Agree with all of your statements.

Regarding the portal - the G5 and less successful P5 schools are next in the pecking order and lose players up the chain too.  It will be interesting to see what it looks like in 5-10 years.  It is not sustainable the way things are now.  I read that Calipari from Kentucky has been promised $5M/year in NIL funds at Arkansas.

Right around when Danny left…. Is @geaux_siouxDanny Freund?

I asked the same question a couple months ago.

I know Dale had an account on here back in the day that disappeared when he left.

Is geaux_sioux ever coming back?  Nothing since January 12?

Not sure what thread this goes on… this morning the Minneapolis Star Tribune had an article in the sports section about NIL for high school athletes. I believe it is the first in a series. A Minnetonka girl’s BB player is the nation’s #6 recruit. She made a deal with New Balance. Her team all wore new New Balance shoes on the way to their state championship. Not sure this is a good direction for high school sports.

Your point is still valid but the story is a little misleading.  The team did get shoes from new balance but they were more like knock around shoes, not basketball shoes.  Technically they ‘wore them on the way to the state championship’ since they wore them on the bus ride to the game.
