When you're kicking good you are able to aim for a target behind the goal posts vs just trying to get it through. Pick a flagpole, something on the scoreboard, a person in the stands or whatever. When it's going bad it's an adventure for sure.

Why don't we focus this thread on discussions regarding it's name - 2026 Non-UND FCS News/Scores Thread?
Someone can then create another thread for "NDSU P!ssing Match" or whatever so those that want to really read and discuss "2026 Non-UND FCS News/Scores" can see actual content on that vs. NDSU who doesn't fit the title of this thread.

Not sure what the payback is for slots outside of Vegas but there it is around 90%.

SU paid $17.5M to move up and an estimated increase to fb budget of $8M/year. Over 10 years thats an extra $97.5M, assuming the yearly costs won't go up which isn't realistic.
Where (or who) do you think that money would come from for UND football?

As stated on here earlier Kostich doesn’t isn’t solely responsible for recruiting special teamers. Schmidt made that clear also when he spoke. It’s a team effort.
He also ‘doesn’t swing the leg’ as was also stated on here earlier. As a guy who did, I can tell you it’s a lot like a golf swing. Your teacher/coach can’t hit the shot or kick the ball for you. Not really on them when it comes to making the play.

ST coaches are primarily responsible for KO coverage/return, punt coverage/return, XP/FG team alignments. Very few, if any, are kicking or punting coaches. It’s too specialized. At college level and above they work with private kicking and punting specialists.
Kostich is an excellent recruiter and is involved with recruiting the LS, K and P guys but it’s a team effort.
I know there are some former end of the bench guys who don’t understand how respected Kostich is by the players and his colleagues. If anyone doesn’t understand the importance of what he does for this team ask Schmidt.
One practice where kickers struggled isn’t a reason to be looking for someone to blame. It’s complicated.I can attest to what Schmidt thinks of Kostich. In person heard him talk about going to national conventions with all the big dogs in fbs. Said Kostich more than holds his own when it gets to X’s and O’s Same based on his own FBS experience.

Was at the fb alumni golf pre-party last night. Lots of great stuff going on with the program. Schmitty spoke for about 15 minutes. Easy to see why he’s getting kids to come to UND and play hard for him and the team. Great leader and genuine.

I believe the new NCAA "5 for 5" rule starts this year. 5 years to complete 5 years of eligibility, no more redshirts but can play for 5 years. Lots of talk about this regarding hockey but will impact football as well. No more limit of 4 games played to keep redshirt.

The NCAA’s "5-for-5" rule is a Division I age-based eligibility model that allows student-athletes to compete for up to five seasons within a five-year period. [1, 2]The NCAA Division I Cabinet unanimously adopted the rule to streamline roster management and eliminate archaic redshirt requirements. Key structural details of the rule include: [1, 2]- Clock Start Date: An athlete’s five-year eligibility clock begins at their initial full-time college enrollment or at the beginning of the academic year following their 19th birthday, whichever occurs first. [1, 2]
- Elimination of Redshirts: Traditional redshirt years and sport-specific eligibility waivers (such as medical hardship waivers) are largely eliminated. Because every athlete is allotted five seasons, developmental and injury-plagued years are naturally absorbed without the need for extensions. [1, 2, 3]
