Are there any thoughts that NDSU might have to pull $$ support from some of their other men's sports to support the increased fb costs and probable added womens sport(s)?

Yeah, Sanderson should have eaten that. Was hoping that wouldn’t come back to bite them, and lo and behold it did.
Didn’t realize it was him. Was hoping it wasn’t.

Not sure what Miller was doing on that shot
Also - Stupid play to ice the puck with 7 seconds left in period. Had better plays available. Ugh.

A guy I work with referees in MVFC. They are worried about what NDSU leaving means to their profession too. Will the conference cut a referee crew?
Last night he got a text from someone and said - sh!t, SDSU going FBS next year. Maybe said CUSA. I didn't get a chance to talk to him about it but I don't see anything online. Something to keep an eye on.

Awesome, report back!
Moore is ultra quick with a great handle. Had 15 points but had a few shots rim out early that would have added to that.
Very good distributor and defender. Listed at 6'1" but seemed smaller than that, maybe because his team was so long and he's not very thick yet. He did get up and dunk a ball which was impressive.

Gutzmer would be a great get, but will be tough to land. Has Miami Florida offer.
edit - Been told that he likes Danny and Schmitty so some hope for the good guys. -

Will do my best. I’ll have a great view from score table but my evaluation skills not always 100% correct. 😀

Bobby Hauck is new DC at Illinois. Pretty short retirement.

The USA-Italy mixed doubles curling match today was great sports viewing. We beat the defending Olympic champs in a back and forth match that came down to the last shot which we made. The vision/creativity and shot making is off the charts.

what is the estimated yearly cost increase beyond the approx $15M up front?
In December Hero sports provided details on MWC spending vs. NDSU currently. Eye opening if true. Somebody's gonna have to write a big check each year.
Football Expenses - MWC
Average (Mean): $18,988,564
- Leader: Colorado State University, $31,356,224
- Lowest: University of Nevada (Reno), $13,562,661
North Dakota State: $6,527,171

My prediction - UND will get $$ from REA/Engelstad foundation (not exactly sure how that works) for the improvements at the Betty. Tied to that will be a delay in the transfer of control of REA to UND for some number of years beyond the scheduled 2030 date.

Thought they have set records over the past decade in fundraising?
Per Herald article:
UND set record in 2025 with $119.5 million in gifts to UND. Previous record for 12 months was was $100.5 million announced in August 2024. A little strange in that they changed from FY to CY recently but both are for 12 month periods.
Record endowment now at $510.7 million.
Forever UND campaign upped goal of $500 million to $625 million after met the $500 million goal 20 months early.
I wish we had been able to keep the Sioux nickname but it doesn't look like the change has exactly crippled fundraising.

Looks like Ethan Headings, who originally committed to UND, then committed to Iowa before signing day, just recommitted to UND.
I’m curious as to what happened here, but will definitely welcome him at UND!

401k loans exist. Usually max at 50% of your value. Some plans don’t allow you to continue contributing though until you pay the loan off.
And you obviously aren’t earning on the money you withdrew. I had coworkers actually benefit from that as the market dropped during that time but that money was taken out. They did earn whatever interest rate they were paying themselves.

1000 bucks in rent a month bc you don't have 50k to spend down but you have 200k in your 401k and don't want to pay the penalty....seems like a great idea to me
1000 bucks into a house instead of renting....
I believe most 401ks already allow you to borrow against them for things like house down payments. Then you pay yourself back over time. I know mine does. Not exactly the same but works.

I am a little confused by this thread. We are currently 4-2 in the conference and showing some signs of life even in the games we've lost. I know this is what message boards are for but there's at least a little hope that's been missing for a long time.

If they sit on the bench at a B1G school, it doesn't help them get noticed by NFL scouts.
That is true. The question is will they start/play at the B1G school. If they can't cut it in the B1G they probably can't make it in the NFL anyway. All things being equal, they get a better look from playing in the B1G.
