  1. It's gut check time for the Sioux D. No miracles like South Dakota last year.
  2. Who has the wind? MSUM can't run clock for their lives. Gimmick offense.
  3. Nope...these games are always nailbiters. I don't remember the last time it didn't come down to the last possession.
  4. I want the Sioux to win and set up a Top 5 matchup next week. The road in the NCC is tough.
  5. I'd say it is a roaring stampede right now. UNO has a much better offense than WWU and MSUM.
  6. The Sioux D is not as good as last year. Also, the Sioux should have run right at Mankato. UNO only threw 13 passes last week.
  7. Mankato may be the one team in the NCC who can match the Sioux's speed. They have some burners. Should be exciting with all those speed demons on both teams.
  8. The thunder in the distance is getting louder, especially when UNO held WWU to 10 points last week. Of course, they gave up 23 to Augie this week so who knows what will happen in a couple weeks. Bye the way, do you all notice that UNO plays most NCC teams the week before UND? Something to do with the scheduling rotation I assume.
  9. UNO moved the ball a lot in the 1st 3 quarters and got to the 15 four times, but couldn't punch it in. 2 FGs, 1 fumble, and 1 missed FG. In the 4th quarter, NW wore out and couldn't tackle or pass block. They had a lot of cramping on their team, especially the receivers, but Omon too. UNO took advantage of that to score 3 TDs in the 4th quarter plus load up against the running game.
  10. If you listen carefully you might hear the faint sound of a stampeding herd of Mavericks that will be making its way to Grand Forks. Run for your lives. OK, just kidding, but I see UND and UNO on a collision course of top 5 teams if both teams continue to play like they have been. As I fan I can look ahead, but the teams cannot. Congrats on the big wins Sioux fans. Let's send out the NCC in style. I'd like one of our teams to take Grand Valley off their throne.
  11. Congrats on a very impressive win and a shutout too.
  12. Regarding the UNO game, the Sioux defensive front had better be able to stop the power running and option game better than last year. UNO's QB Zach Miller is the pre-season All-American QB according to Street & Smith and 4/5 of their offensive line returns as well, including last year's NCC lineman of the year Ben Hochstein. There were times in both games last year where the Sioux defense just looked plain soft against the run. On the flip side, UNO's pass defense looked just plain inept in both pass rush and coverage. With all those great receivers, UND presents a big problem for UNO again. I'm assuming the Sioux will find QB who can get them the ball with plenty of time behind that experienced offensive line. Looks to be 2 high powered offenses again with strengths that play into the other team's defensive weakness. Whichever team's defense improves the most will determine the winner. UNO has a little more experience returning on the defensive side of the ball. UNO is probably the one team who holds their own in the Alerus Center. However, because UNO runs Miller so much, he is likely going to be injured at some point later in the season. Looks to be a toss up as usual. Another 1 punt (or point) game perhaps??
  13. This is great. I wish we would do this in Nebraska against Iowa or Kansas. All we do is in state high school all star games on a north-south or eas-west basis. I would have loved playing in one of these interstate games. Are there any special rules? I imagine injuries might be a big concern.
  14. Thanks that does ring a bell with me now that you mention it. As far as the shots at Behrns from some posters, I understand there is a history there and he has been a burr in the Sioux's saddle, but it would seem to me that anybody who has a winning record in Grand Forks as an opposing coach should get some credit. UNO was competing with Morningside to stay out of the cellar when he arrived in Omaha.
  15. Are you referring to the OT game? What happened?
  16. I guess you all don't know yet that you're opening with Humboldt State at home on Aug 23rd. That's a decent game. They had a good record last year, but maybe inflated by DIII and NAIA wins. http://hsujacks.com/football/index.html
  17. I would like to see UND hire Jeff Jamrog...I think he is looking for a new job.
  18. UNO does not match up well with USD. I expect Miller to be injured by then too. He is a physical freak and may be WR in the NFL next year, but he's not bullet proof. UNO will run him too much without a Kasperbauer lining up behind him.
  19. Chappell is the best returning RB that I saw in the NCC last year. He should be 1st team all conference. If the Sioux can get improved LB play from last year, their defense should be pretty good but not not outstanding like past years. If the LBs don't improve, they might be average. They lose some some good D-linemen, but I think Mannausau will get a good front put together as usual. The Sioux will ride Dressler as far as he can take them, but I have to question when he will finally get injured. He is one tough kid, but nobody that size can take the punishment he does forever. UNO will probably use up Zach Miller by season's end and UND and UNO will play without their best players. USD wins the NCC crown.
  20. Why do you cheapen UND's title and playoff success in the past 7 years like that?
  21. Also, to answer the point of this thread, you all might guess that I don't care if UND and NDSU ever play again.
  22. The CWS is a big event, but NDSU won't get there anytime soon. I think I saw where the Bison lost 14-2 to Kansas State recently. K-State will probably finish last in the Big XII. More times than not UND has a chance at the Frozen Four. College hockey is big in the upper plains, northeast, and in the crappy city of Denver. Otherwise, baseball is the bigger college sport. Personally, I'd rather win in the less popular sport than field a poor team in a more popular sport.
  23. Yeah, plus UNO had the bye week before the playoff game too. A little more than luck there. Conspiracy anyone? Another scheduling quirk from last year that I'll be interested in...every NCC team except Central Washington had to play UNO and UND in back-to-back weeks. That's a tough chore.
  24. Couple of things: UNO has an open date on Oct 6th to prepare for the Sioux and heal up some wounds. This would concern me if I were a Sioux fan. That will be the big game of the year at the Alerus Center (at least in the regular season). No matter where this game is played, it has come down the wire almost every time. Northwest Missouri State is trying to fill a season opener on Aug 24th or Sep 1st. However, with them already playing UNO in the non-conference, playing UND might be too much for even the Bearcats to risk.
  25. Delusional...stick to topics you actually know something about. The Huskers worry about UNO's small fan contingent challenging their drawing power. UNO is moving to the MIAA.
