  1. What do you expect when your username is "shanleycheats"?
  2. That's not much better (plus I'd rather make the drive to Superior) I'll hopefully be watching teh Sioux tomorrow evening, drinking a spotted cow (a fine microbrew indeed), and generally enjoying myself.
  3. Unfortunately, Superior would be a little trek for me
  4. You could drive the 2 hours to Madison and watch it at my house (Saturday only - it's all I would get)...
  5. Charter will NOT be picking up the Victory Sports feed for their Wisconsin customers. Fortunately, Fox Sports Atlantic will be carrying the West Region final (for those of you who have the digital cable package). Apparently Victory only made the free offer to Charter communities in Minnesota and not Wisconsin.
  6. Thanks iceberg. I'm still holding out hope that a last minute change might happen and I'll pick up a UND feed (I know I'm pissing upwind here, but a guy has to keep the faith!).
  7. Any news on waht I might get to see in Madison, WI? I have Charter Digital cable (I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get the Sioux, but my menu won't let me go out farther than Thurs. right now).

    Nice fan

A few points 1. You didn't notice what happened to the Latvian guy b/c you were distracted by what was happening with Goldy and the guy. How the hell would the guy being sieved have any clue about the injury if you were distracted and didn't notice it as well? 2. Goldy was sieving during an injury? ahem... 3. Anyone who sits in an opposing teams student section should expect to get harrassed, tormented, etc... and needs to get a thick skin. 4. Coming to the UND board to discuss a single stupid event isn't a "classy" move either. Take it to POI and have a lovefest. Being that this is not typical of you (from my lurking), I won't hold it against you.
  9. Is anybody recruiting the RB from Bismarck (the little guy)? I know his size is a major disadvantage, but he seems like he could be a wideout/KR type in college.
  10. I live in Madtown and was thinking about getting my tickets soon. If we have an idea of who is going to make it, we can try and get a block of seats, but we should do it soon.
  11. Speez, I think that's just a way of saying that we don't know these kids off the ice. We don't know their perosnalities so picking a C or A based off of what we hear and what we see on the ice isn't the whole story. A lot of captains, in any sport, happen to be guys that either teammates look towards or the coach likes their attitude. It's a disclaimer of not knowing the whole story but venturing an opinion anyways, and not meant as a dig (at least not from me).
  12. C - Hale -I like that he basically does whatever is needed of him. Now, if he could put a few more of those nice passes from McMahon in the net... A - Schneider - I think he could lead by example if nothing else. A - McMahon - Just a hunch, has been one of my favorites on the team. As someone else said earlier, this comes without knowing anything re: locker room motivation skills. Kind of along these same lines, what is the schedule for the team getting things started? Have they been doing Ironman, etc...
  13. I think people lose sight of the fact that these are amatuer athletes. Sure, they play on a high profile team, but do we have the moral right to air dirty laundry, even if we believe it to be true? I'm not ripping on schmidt, but should we be posting stuff that is not publicized, even if it is from a good source? Case in point - on USCHO in the politica squabblings that occur, hank "outed" nate and was routinely booed and criticized for it. What makes posting non-publicized information about an amateur player any less of an offense. These are not paid professionals. These are 18-24 year old college students. Let them have a little bit of privacy, just as you would hopefully afford other posters on this board. That being said, public information is fair game. About anyone. (however, the glass houses rule of thumb is alwys good to live by). I applaud schmidt for posting a retraction.
  14. They created a lot of opportunities last year. Now, burying them would be the improvement (which I think you'll see). I look for Massen or Lundbohm to have a breakout year. Both have showed ability, but neither has showed consitency.
  15. Is anyone getting the feed via Fox?
  16. Wisco fans are good fans. In a couple of years, if UND would go through a stretch like they have, you'd see plenty of empties at the Ralph.
  17. Has he been there ever since? I guess I didn't notice (which probably isn't a good thing). And to anyone who is here in Madison, Wando's isn't a bad place to visit either (Kitty-Corner to the Nitty Gritty, about three blocks north of the Kohl center).
  18. I posted the following on USCHO (osrry if you had to read it again PCM ) The Soux looked pretty dominant last night. UW is having a down year, but this was a good win for the Sioux for the following reasons: 1. They were able to put up some good numbers against a good goalie (haven't done this during the latest streak). 2. They played a good cycling/foreshecking/passing game on a big sheet of ice, which is typically a tough task for them. 3. UW is down, but that hasn't stopped the Sioux from losing in the previous games. Interesting to note that Blais' comments RE: Ryan Hale playing D were in fact true. He didn't look bad out there either. Jumped up into play a couple of times. I thought Marvin played well, he also jumped into the play a couple of times. The Bochenski-Parise-Notermann line dominated play. They looked like they were on a powerplay out there. I am still amazed at Nick Fuhrer's slapper. Damn, he has a rocket. How long has Fylling been playing the point on the second powerplay unit? I think McMahon won every faceoff he took. I really like his play. (end Quote) I was the one that said the Wisco broadcasters are brutal. I assume it was the FSN team. Their radio (and public broadcasting) team of Brian Posik (sp?) and Bill Brophy (sp?) are pretty good, although I'll never forgive Brophy for saying in 2000, when BC beat Wisco, that it was, for all intents and purposes, the championship game. I saw a lot of fellow Sioux fans at the game. The group of about 8 sitting right behind Bruckler 1 & 3 sieving was hilarious.
  19. Thanks PCM. It seems that the experiment was tried earlier this year (and didn't work). I do think he has the potential (skates well, strong, good checker), but I think it is a tough change to make with a small amount of practice. I guess we'll see tonight (I'm not going to be very productive at work today!).
  20. Am I the only one who caught the "putting Ryan Hale back to defense" line? To anyone listening to the show, was this something they are going to do or was he using it simply as a describer for how he's been playing lately (i.e.like Dave)?

    Fyi

Trust me when I say this, listen to the radio while you watch the game. The pair they have are probably the worst that I have heard. They make Frank and Doug look like the opposite of homers, and they're bad.
  22. State Street Brats wouldn't be bad. I've never been to Babes. I know I've been to the Nitty Gritty, but for the life of me, I can't remember it. I think it is know for being a pretty good burger joint as well and I also believe it is the closest to the Kohl. There are a few other bars down that way that could be moved to if needed.
  23. Everyone needs to take a deep breath, breathe in, breathe out..... Hammy didn't come one here and make blatantly outrageous statements. I think his opinion is valid, I don't agree with it, but it does spark some debate. I would say that other teams posters who come here don't try and flame away, and to pat the UND contingent on the back a little, for the most part don't yell everytime an opposing team fan says something in a somewhat "negative" light about UND. I like having intelligent Gopher fans post here to get other perspectices, and to be honest, I'm not sure how this escalated in any way. On to other news... Any news on goaltending starters for this weekend (I'm getting antsy, I just got my tickets for the weekend).
  24. I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Blais clearly states during recruiting that scholarships are on a yearly basis with review after each season.
  25. Here's an alternative question for those of you arguing against cutting a player for lack of performance - Could it not be said that a player who, based on the judgement of people more capable than you and I to judge these players, does not play at the level of the DI institute that they attend, is taking the place (and potential scholarship) of someone who may be more deserving? Just interested how someone views that alternative. On another note, people need to realize that stats don't tell a whole story. Just because Connelly doesn't have huge numbers, doesn't mean he isn't creating opportunities that won't get capitalized on at some point. By some people's criteria, Lee Goren should have never seen the ice after his first year playing and Skarp as jk pointed out. I've been impressed with McMahon every time that I've watched the Sioux (about 10- 12 games this year). He forechecks well, is great on faceoffs, and seems to set up players extremely well. If he had a sniper playing with him, you'd see huge assist numbers. My favortie line all year has been the Prpich-McMahon-Hale line, but Hale is not a sniper and Prpich needs another year under his belt to get there. I have to agree with those who have said theat the young players this year are doing just fine. On a related note, I think some are losing site of the fact that this is a YOUNG team. There are two exceptional seniors, but overall, this is a very young team (add in David Hales health concerns, and this team gets even younger). That doesn't excuse/explain the goaltending issues, but it does explain a stretch like the current one (where lack of scoring has been a bigger concern IMHO). Alright, partial rant over.
