I offer you a pragmatic comparison so that you might see the silliness of employing guilt and serving it on the white population of North Dakota and instead of seeing the truth in real racism- ie danger, physical harm, loss of life or property vs "they stared at me", you chose to call me a cry baby.
You, my friend are exactly the kind of person that facilitates our culture of victimization.
Just curious, when a person stares at you, why are they looking at you? I'm sure its cause your white huh? Well unless they are white too..
I'll tell you another story;
This last Christmas Eve day I was at the Independence mall in Kansas City, Missouri. I was sitting down at the food court eating an ice cream as my kids played in the play area. As I was watching them play a Black guy (around 40 yrs old) who is sitting at the table next to me asks me with a vexed tone, "Do I know you?" I said, "huh?". He said, "Well you have been staring at me and I figure you either know me or you have some problem with me."
I explained that he was on the line of sight from me to my kids to which he replied, "hmm?"
So here is the lesson in that experience if you choose to accept it:
Now let's just consider for a second, because we don't know, that this fella is one who feels that many white people around him have prejudice toward him as a black man. Had he been thinking he was getting stared at by a white dude who had a problem with African Americans and said nothing to me about it, he would have carried that with him forever not to mention added it to a collective of other conclusions into his prejudice bank. And further shared these perceptions with other African Americans as they shared theirs with him.
The final chapter in that whole ill condition is &^%$#@&^%$#@&*^%$-----THE MEDIA-------*&^$#&^%$#@&^%$#@
Now you have a recipe for a big pile of Sh%#t!
But hey, on the other hand we can all go buy a copy of Black Like Me and buy into the whole white people are racists viewpoint.
I'm just smart enough to see the reality of white racism in North Dakota as it compares to other demographic racism that exist in plenty across this country.
Don't worry to much about the fact that I'm smarter than you.
Your fear that it might be true and what that means to you is pointless.
Consider this- If I am 'smarter' than you- ie able to see things you can't- it is I that feel the frustration as you and the masses of others like you move through my world allowing conditions such as the loss of a team name for not a good reason, while you see me as a idiot, ie "real genius" who thinks he is more than he is.
So you live the content life contently amongst the masses, while for me, well I get as my only choices to argue against the many in a fruitless fight or just throw my hands up and say, "they had it coming"
Only problem is I have 20 years of my life invested in the Sioux name that I have come to have a pride in and love.
So see, I'm probably in possession of more 'genius' that you but I for no real reason or purpose other than being surrounded by 'lack of intelligence' lose anyway..

I'm not going to debate atmosphere as we've been down that road many many times and it always leads us back to the same spot.
It's all a time waster.
All I'm saying is that they aren't exactly a morgue like atmosphere for hockey.
No argument or road to travel down on, truth hurts sometimes. Sorry bro! Just stating the facts! :-)

I don't know about that. The Kohl center setup maybe. But look at what those UW fans do for atmosphere.
That's all I'm going to say.
They're like little kids in High School at that rink with all those cheers IMO. Wisco should emulate the fans at the "United Center" if they think they're really hot S%*t!, just saying... :-) Far superior atmosphere, hands down!

devils drop game one... zajac with devils only goal assisted by parise. i think nj has their hands full in this series. and ottawa takes game one from the defending champs. i love playoff hockey... almost as good as sioux hockey.

This is only over a year old Flip Mino HD Camera. I have the box and all the chords and case. I want to sell and get rid of. I bought for $250 and have a custom design UND hockey logo on it.
The reason for selling the better inside the Flip or USB chord wire is loose and needs to be replaced.
**To fix will run about $75 - $90, depending if you send it in... or it will be a lot cheaper if you order the parts and do it yourself. There are a bunch of web sites out there where one can order the parts.
This picture quality is amazing, it is not true HD becauase it is only 720P, but this handy device is nothing less than amazing!!!

Hak knows what he is doing. He understands he needs speedy D next year if Sampson (sp) comes in early. Look at Marto yesterday, he was banged up and was the most efficient player on the ice and that goes for both teams. Why, because he one of the smartest players on the team, has great hands, vision and can fly. If Chay comes back, you would have him, Marto, Mac, Blood, Lapoint and Gleason -(as a person that can play, but may be sitting out at times, a great insurance D to have, or use come tournament time) Forbort and Mattson are playing every night, I can assure you that. So, as fans we need to see what happens with Chay. Fienhage may be gone and decides to transfer, or sign to develop elsewhere. Blood is not going anywhere yet.
Next year will be a team that on paper should be able to do some amazing and crazy things.
Let's be honest on the forward front here too.... - Hexy, Frats, Trupp, Greg, Kristo, Malone are locks to play. So what do you do, you tell every other player... you say it is open competition boys. Do you wait on bringing in Brock Nelson? Yes, probably so bring in Rodwell and Danny Mattson (tough year, but the kid has speed and hands!) Now remember fans just because Mario Lamoureux works his ass off and is the king of you get what you deserve with hard work, understand that if, and that is a big if... If the talent level on the depth and forward front should be what it is looking to be,......remember he came to UND being very fortunate. He has worked for all the ice team he has received and has EARNED IT. But.... Let's state the most important trait of Mr. Lamoureux, he is all about the team first. If he will be sitting out some games next year a little bit he understands that. He needs to be a leader on that front and get that team mentality across the rest of the troops, him and Davidson do it best and are awesome for that!!!. No... you question this and say why?... because Rowney also for what he is, may be in the similar position next year too. Yeah he played all year but, is he really that effective and efficient where he needs to be in the line up every game next year.... I would say no!
Come down the stretch of any given run though, you play the best players..... Yeah I know and I get it, so we shall see next year on the forward front with - Lam, Cichy, Bruno, Toews, Rowney, Knight, Rodewell - if comes in and Mattson - if comes in. As always, off season for the ones that struggled this year! Earn you spot!
And now the rhyme and reasoning behinds this to tell the players. As a coach what to you say and how do you handle this.... You say next year with what "we" have, would could accomplish greats things and win #8. This is our year, last year was a trial run and we could of won any given night and lose (come tourney time this year, yep it happened) as well and then had that feeling starting in October in the locker room and the whole coaching staff.. So for motivation you say, do you want to be part of a national title team to the players.... Then you say "sacrifice baby" !! Enough said!
Next year on personnel is going to be nuts!

Alright let's put things in perspective here folks:
1. This team has potential. If this team was consistently getting beat by a large margin from the best teams in the country, I would not say this, but guess what, they aren't. They are only losing by a few goals here and there, and like any team have had a few rare uncharacteristic games.
2. If, and that is a big if this team can get a winning streak going, anything can happen towards tournament time, given they are still highly placed in the Pairwise rankings (the only thing that matters)
3. Injuries aside, this team has been inconsistent all year. From chemistry issues with finding the right personnel for Gregoire to having players compliment Kristo with the player he is.
4. From a goalie standpoint Dell and Eids, if the team can generate some offense, Eids usually does not lose a game for the team, however he is nowhere near a high profiled goalie in the nation
5. This team does not have a number one line that scares the opposition while having superstars on that line like years in the past. Not a good thing to have. Having four strong lines on the depth chart is great but as we have seen with this team, offensive woes and power-play troubles are a result of this luxury.
6. Time and time again I have seen Malone, Zajac, Rowney, and Lammy not bury. The reason being people is because they are not true goal scorers. Everyone of these guys can play a role and play physical and go balls out night in and night out, but last time I checked you need to score goals to win a hockey game, I do not care how great one is given their defensive responsibilities and that a player plays with an edge. That stuff can all be learned, becoming a true goal scorer cannot.
7. Chemistry issues with the team? Dam right, people don't be so oblivious to these things, you can tell by players body language on the ice. Quit reading all the blogs and listening to Hak's comments, become a realist and do not be so naive to the fact that there are problems on this years team.
8. Hockey IQ wise, a few guys come to mind that understand and play at a different level, number one Gregoire, number two Marto. These two players are doing everything right most nights and making plays that are fantastic plays where other teammates look like a deer in the headlights and can't follow where Gregoire and Jake are going with the play. With that statement a lot of these players on this year's team are cement heads. Their hockey decision making is nowhere near previous Sioux' teams, as a result scoring became a significant issue and confidence issues with forwards has hit an all time high.
9. My last problem Leadership. Who is the leader on this years team, is it Chay? Obviously is. Well guess what folks, Chay is injured and has been injured for a long time. He may not play this season and he may never play again. Being optimistic lets say he gets back to join the team this year. Does that change all the current problems on this years team. No it doesn't. What the team needed in Chay's absence was someone to step up and become a leader. No one currently has risen to the occasion. Team wise that is not a good thing to have.
10. Lastly win tonight and move forward! Life moves in only one direction and that is forward, quit wasting time and energy on excuses and what if scenario, reffing problems ect. Please waste your time and energy on things you can control!

Anyone think that Frattin was reinstated due to the struggles of the team more than anything? If this team was rolling along would Frattin have been reinstated by Hak? I doubt it. Either way welcome back Matt!
I would say yes and no. Definitely desperate times right now with the Sioux team calls for desperate measures.

It's a hockey game for crying out loud. I am so sick of people putting down the students at the REA. They're great, they bring energy and life to building. I understand that some chants should not be used giving the offensive language and what not. However, tonight's atmosphere was just boring. I really wish the older people in the seats would cheer more and create a fun sporting environment. One of the biggest issues with the Ralph, is that going to a hockey game becomes a social event for a far majority of the people attending. There is to much control and it is sucking the fun out of the building and the Ralph allows that to happen because if people constantly bitch in Grand Forks, adjustments get made. I hate to say it but the best fans ever to attend the Ralph, were the Canadian fans during the world juniors in 2005.

Making his college debut and posting a shutout and also acquiring an assist and the win, I think Dell deserves his own thread. I like his game. It is great to see that the Sioux have two goalies that can play any given night. I feel more confident knowing that if one of the goalies has an off game this year, we have two great goalies that can play. I know the Sioux played AA tonight, but Dell EARNED that shutout, Congrats!!!!

The skill is plenty evident, IMO. The rest will come with it. The kid is clearly a player.
I had the smile face for a reason. He is a good player, there is no doubt about that. He will eventually start burying the biscuit. Hopefully throughout the year he continues to get stronger so he can be a force and be hard to knock off the puck. Getting stronger should play a huge role in his development at UND.

I don't think Kristo had a great first half last year either, but look at him now, look at him now. Plenty of time for guys to work their game.
Look at him now? While he is a great player, talk to me when he starts burying a few goals.

I had no intention leaving out other sports. You could say I left out, football, baseball, basketball, swimming, soccer, mens/women's golf, cross country... Wrestling, nascar, poker... Oh, wait a sec, what?!
