  1. Heisenberg's site has Fanto going to Maine this fall. I think I'll go with that. http://members.aol.com/cheisenber/Recruit04.htm
  2. Drew Wrigley and Tom Heffelfinger were present at today's news conference. They are the US Attorneys for North Dakota and Minnesota, respectively. This has led to speculation that the Feds will be taking over the prosecution of this case. If this happens, the death penalty is a possibility..(probability)..upon conviction. The kidnapping charge is what brings this into federal jurisdiction, according to the media outlets I've been following. Maybe some of our attorneys that frequent the board can shed some more light on that.
  3. News conference has been pushed back to 4:30 CDT.

The Monticello coach also should shoulder some of the blame. His team should be better equipped to step on the ice and at least compete.

It is the first year of the high schools' existence, so we gotta cut them some slack.
  6. If the suites are a problem, rope off a row or two at the top of the sections. You will not be in the way of the club seat people, and standing room is a joke, i.e. you get to watch the Jumbotron from the bar. I sit in 306 on Saturdays. I would gladly move to center ice, if that's what it takes. I'd miss those around me, but I'd do it. That is about the most defeatist attitude I've heard on this issue, at least from anyone on this forum. I about fell over in my chair at this one. Maybe I'm easy to please, but as an alum that was on the outside looking in with the 6,000 seat arena, I like the new digs, and the fact that many of us now have access to games. Oh, and another thing. Without the "poorly designed arena", my guess is you would be watching #11 one weekend a season, with an ugly brown M on his sweater.
  7. Eighteen, one pick after the Devils, interestingly enough.
  8. Bochenski SCORES....aaand it's waved off...
  9. Brady Murray ties the all-time UND rookie record last night with 6 GWG's.
  10. Blais on the pre-game. Rumor has it Don Adam will be assigned to the Duluth series next weekend. He's happy with Matt Greene's play right now, says he playing disciplined, his best hockey of the year. Blais is hoping Bo can get off the schnide tonight with a goal. Same lines tonight. TH joked that there should be an asterisk by this game, because Blais is going with the same line chart. Brandt in the net tonight.
  11. I'm pretty sure the Radisson is only a block or two from the DECC, but they're probably booked. We will have a group of eight at Duluth! Grandma's Sports Garden always sounds like a good time, but this is my first hockey trip to Duluth, so I can't speak from experience.
  12. Don't look at anyone cross-eyed, Sioux, or you will be two men down.
  13. They have chased Volp. Clark now in goal.
  14. That first powerplay unit has been playing very well. Great sign!
  15. TH said that the Sioux have "5-holed" Volp twice.
  16. The first thing that has to happen is to get the students moved to the end where the Sioux attack twice. This is where they belong. It's time to call the deal brokered by the student senate last spring what it is, a resounding failure. 103-106 should be all students. If that means moving some of them from upstairs, so be it. Blow the old seating chart up and start from scratch if you have to. Move 'em to the end, and let 'em have some fun. The second thing is to somehow increase funding and/or resources for the band. Whatever it takes to improve them, whether it be credits, more money, better leadership, etc. And move them downstairs amongst the students, too. I hold tickets to Friday games down on an end, and would gladly move to implement this. Something needs to be done this off-season, big time. I just hope Blais didn't have any recruits in last weekend. If I were an 18-to-20 year old kid and saw that atmosphere, UND would have plummeted down my list, maybe crossed off altogether. As far as the language issue is concerned, I land on the side of the administration on this one. But if what I've read here is true, people getting kicked out for "butt" or "sucks", then common sense needs to carry the day. To summarize, quiet students equals no fun. No fun equals good recruits going somewhere else, which results in less winning, which results in less attendance, which results in less revenue. Now we have it boiled down to a language that we can all understand. That is my take.
  17. The Denver playoff series last year was a great atmosphere. Most of the students were gone for the beginning of spring break.
  18. 1. Sioux hockey 2. College football -> any level 3. Viking football 4. Other college hockey 5. Major college hoops 6. Any high school sports 7. NASCAR 8. Pro Darts 9. 5-pin bowling 10. Aussie rules football .... 67. Twins baseball .... 106. Woodmutts basketball .... 908. NHL Hockey
  19. This would only work once per season, but I'll throw it out there anyway. As the last home game of the season is wrapping up, maybe after the 1:00 announcement, strike up the chant of "Thank you, Seniors!!"...clap..clap...clap-clap-clap, and keep going. After the handshake line, Lundbohm, Hale, and Palmo could come out to center ice by themselves for one last stick salute before they head for the Final Five. I think it would catch on with everybody, and could become a tradition. I know it might sound corny to some, but thought I'd lob it out there.
  20. I agree. That would open up the game more than the rest of the proposed changes combined. The league is putting a painfully boring product on the ice. Joe Consumer, such as myself, will not shell out $100 a pop to have a boring time. So, you can either change the rules to make the game entertaining for the mainstream, or you can listen to the people that "know hockey" and buckle up for a contraction of 8 to 10 teams. It is another case of being "all about the Benjamins".
  21. Speaking of The Ralph, I think it's safe to say that the intensity level in that place will up about 10 notches next weekend.
  22. Eaves definitely has that program headed in the right direction. Props to UW.
  23. Sioux will slip to #2 in the PWR, which is really the only criteria that matters.
