As an outsider, I find the level of bickering between North Dakota residents puzzling. Debating which city is better? I've heard of interstate rivarly but jeees. With a state population under a million (and a population that is essentially level), I'm really surprised there isn't more united N Dakota spirit. I'd be happy to see any media attention to locations within the state.

Haha no kidding. If we somehow win the superbowl, Rex has to rank up there as one of the worst (or at least most inconsistent) QBs to ever lead their team to a title. I can't help but think how we would be if we had a QB like Brady or Manning at the helm... it would be scary!

Places I wish we had... -Olive Garden or Johnny Carinos (Italian only restaurant) -A *real* Mexican restaurant where sauce on burritos is not called gravy. I'd rate the local places around a 3/10. Paradiso is always jam packed, but it can't hold a jock strap to 75% of the places I've been to in Oklahoma. This is to be expected though considering our distance from Mexico, so no hard feelings. -A Thai or Indian restaurant . (VARIETY) -A 21st century movie theatre with stadium seating and all the bells and whistles.

Da Bears! I grew up an hour from Chicago, so I'm happy to see them make the superbowl. Hopefully they can at least keep the game close. The AFC is much stronger this year. I do think we have a better shot against the Colts rather than the Pats. I wonder if they'll come up with a new superbowl shuffle . Aaron

FYI, the comet is clearly visible from Grand Forks. For more viewing information/instructions, check out www.spaceweather.com. It is even visible in broad daylight with binoculars. Look about 1 fist to the upper left of the sun. Make sure to block the sun out with a building or object! (Today at 2pm CST) (Last night at 5:20pm)

Ya... well my main problem with the Dodge dealer here is that the maintenance people are from a nationwide chain. I had some issues before with an oil change when they discovered an "oil leak". Funny thing is there were never any spots on the driveway. They took the car in and did "warranty" work for an entire day replacing a seal. My theory is they replaced a seal (or maybe they didn't) and then charged Dodge for a day's worth of work. Maybe I'm just paranoid with all the bad mechanics out there This is the first place I've seen where half the dealerships are owned by a nationwide comapny. I'd much rather send my business to a local group (I got the Caliber in OK). Aaron

Any suggestions for reliable, cheap places to get a block heater installed? Dodge quoted me ~$175-185 for my block heater on a 2007 Caliber. Yikes! I thought EBH's are pretty much the same for all vehicles? Rydell wants ~$100 for my wife's 2000 Chevy Impala. Aaron

With so many blowouts in title games (we're even guilty of the game that will go unnamed a few years back), I fail to see how people can be against the playoff system. It irks me that college football is the only sport where there are issues with who is #1 year in and year out. Throw in the recent overruling of the transfer student stuff, and ugh... NCAA is just whack (not that we didn't know this before ).

Yep... great site. I made a post on there but had no responses (well one email with a suggestion). Paddlers... where are youuu? I know UND allows students/residents to rent canoes and kayaks. Might have to create my own paddle the red nights.

I'll never forget the gameday when a guy in the background crowd had a sign that said "Lee Corso is a penis". I about spit my drink out all over the TV. . Needless to say they switched views pretty quick.

We have a thread about running, so I figured I would throw up another outdoor activity/exercise. Do we have any kayak or canoe paddlers in town? I've done some googling, but haven't found much in the way of ND paddle clubs or organizations. I've had the chance to kayak quite a few times in the past and always found it to be a good workout/relaxing adventure. I finally broke down and bought a 14.5 ft. touring kayak this winter. I'd like to do some weekend trips once I get enough experience (and buy some camping gear). There are plenty of great places within a half day drive... the Missouri River, Little Missouri, Pembina, the Red, and of course the Boundary Waters/Voyeugers NP in MN. Once the river melts, I'll probably paddle some on the Red. During the summer it seems to have a pretty slow current. Aaron

Talk about stupid. Don't forget the Illini. They play them in every other sport in the Big 10 conference. But oh wait... it's ok to play conference games (why hockey is still allowed). Explain the logic in that one... Sounds more like a ploy to suck up to the NCAA to me. Aaron

Just got back from my first Sioux hockey game. Overall, I thought the game was played pretty evenly. Keep in mind I am no hockey expert, so let me know if I'm out to lunch here. We had plenty of scoring chances, but just couldn't get it done. I was disappointed to see the goalie pulled. I'm not sure what it says when you keep switching goalies in and out... It seems like many of the problems extend from bad passing/poor stick play in the open. Enough of my hockey analysis. My last comment is the complete lack of emotion in the crowd other than a few yells here and there. Keep in mind I come from a huge Div I football power, so I'm use to the crowd being ROWDY. I'm not sure if there are rules against this in collegiate hockey (I noticed the kill all the music when play begins), but it seems like we need to get the crowd worked up for extended periods of time. Let the team know they are at OUR house and gotta win on OUR ice. People should be banging on the boards, seats, whatever during key time periods. There's plenty of potential... the audience can obviously make noise (the Shout song being played comes to mind). Aaron

Grew up an hour WNW of Chicago in Rockford, IL. Left the state to go to the U. of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. Finished my BS (2004) and MS (2006) in meteorology, and now I'm in Grand Forks working on my PhD in atmospheric science. I should be here at least another 3-4 years. From there? Who knows. I'm partial to the midwest because of the people and the storms. Don't care too much for the coasts Aaron

Repeat after me: the media are tools. I'm so sick of them bringing up how we deserve to be ranked higher because of the Oregon fiasco.... and yet the same people don't rank us higher. In the USA Today poll, we're ranked below USC. Are you kidding me? Honestly, I think the sickest part of the BCS is that ND was still allowed in. They played 2 BCS teams and got dominated... they don't belong. Although Boise State should be a fun game, it's a lose-lose situation for us. If we win, it's expected... if we lose, then it's an embarrassment. It actually has a lot of ring to the Utah team of a few years back. Even though Boise State went undefeated, they only played 1 BCS conference team this year... Oregon State. Aaron

Heart breakers for both... I was flipping back and forth between my beloved Sooners and the Rutgers game with that going to 3OT! I'm satisfied my Sooners pulled out the win for the big 12 title, but I was hoping Rutgers would win. Overall, it was an amazing day of football with USC losing, Wake Forest winning, the Rutgers game, and of course my Sooners pulling the W in a gritty defensive battle! What bowl is Rutgers going to?
