  1. I'm willing to give the student athletes that were recruited in the past three years the benefit of the doubt - it's not like the cupboard is bare. Yes it will be hard to look past what has transpired with Bubba, hard to understand that the Administration either didn't hear the rumbles or didn't care about them. I guess we will learn from the portal what the current student athletes think about the extension.

Well does it go without saying that this new NIL start up is dead? Asking for a friend…..

Based on the positive comments that were posted under the Twitter/Facebook posting of the extension I would say it will do just fine. I plan to support it because I want the program to be able to compete.

Who did they hire her over?

I seem to remember he was from the south and his resume showed lots of recruiting experience. I was actually surprise he did not get the job - but quicklyi realized the deck was stacked against him for several reasons.

  4. A coach was hired to take over a struggling team. The coach who left met with them privately and presented three numbered envelopes. “Open these if you run into serious trouble,” he said.

Well, after the first year the team was way down and the new coach was catching a lot of heat. they began to panic but then remembered the envelopes. They went to the drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, “Blame your predecessor.” The new coach called a press conference and explained that the previous coach had left them with a real mess and it was taking a bit longer to clean it up than expected, but everything was on the right track. Satisfied with the comments, everyone responded positively.

A couple years went by and the team continued to struggle. Having learned from his previous experience, the coach quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, “Reorganize.” So they fired key people and made roster changes. This was met with support for the effort.

Another year passed and the team was still short on wins. The coach would have to figure out how to get through another tough off season. They went to their office, closed the door and opened the third envelope. The message said, “Prepare three envelopes.”

What do you think Filip Rebraca has to say about transferring out? Took a lesser role his first year, stats all went down, but then got a bigger role his senior year. Played in march madness both years, won the big 10 one year. Got to experience playing against many different NBA players and in top college facilities across the country

Flip left because UND did not offer the grad school major he needed, easier to ask a little tougher questions when the reason for leaving is money. Agreed it's his life, his choice and we can assume conversations were probably already happening before the season was over.

  6. There were several players that could actually take over a game in The Summit, BJ was not one of them. However in the next level they probably aren't looking for that.  As we have seen there is just as good of a chance he rides the bench. This is the new reality and it sucks.

Hey it is a success as we aren't in the D2 days anymore with the team made up of small town ND and MN kids.  Things are different and if they can get 5 kids to show up to class it is a success.

I would bet a majority of students athletes are taking online classes if they can. With all the academic support they have there is no excuse for bad grades.

Good to know we are plus 3 on TE's going into 2024.....since they are the key to our offense.

I heard the new OC has a page of plays that involve TEs (sarcasm).

  9. I'll assume it's just conjecture about Omot moving on based on how we have lost players in previous year, correct. Of course it could happen but he's got close friends on the team, he's getting his share of the ball, his family is within driving distance. Of course all that could mean nothing if NIL money was involved. I met his parents last year and they said he really liked UND. Of course there was no hospitality room this year so no chance to get together with anyone from UND. The reality is he's got talent for the Summit level. Also hopefully Tyree is sharing his experience about his decision with him.

We've got her and Pemberton to build around, maybe 1 or 2 others.  We're going to need 3-4 more very good recruits in order to crack the top 3 in the Summit, recruits with a heart to play both ends of the floor.

There will definitely also be some addition by subtraction - bank on it.

  11. President Andy was in attendance, so at least he thought the tournament was worth supporting. St Thomas, USD, NDSU and SDSU all had hospitality rooms over the weekend. There were several empty rooms going unused. The Champions Club did save some money by "waiting until Monday" to host a room. It did not take St Thomas long to rise to the top.

Make sure you're wearing blue, know the school fight song, and are buying some SDSU gear which will be sold at the gathering, if you're planning on ducking into the SDSU room or we'll spot you drinking the complimentary beer. :)

I wonder how strong the USD crowd will be since the Yotes Men are in the play-in game which may have depressed their full-tourney pass sales (I don't know that for a fact). I've attended all but one SLT since it has been held in Sioux Falls. The 2024 Tourney has great potential.  Many have commented on the league parity, particularly on the Men's side.  I've watched most of the teams and the quality spread from top to bottom is not as large as it has been in some years.  I'll show up for the Friday play in games and stay in Sioux Falls (I live 90 minutes outside of Sioux Falls) for the entire tourney, irrespective of how the SDSU teams perform. I'm even looking forward to the USD v ORU play-in game -- should be entertaining and will be of great interest to Jacks fans because the winner plays the Jacks on Saturday.

    Good luck and safe travels!

Made it in the room no problem :) Saw one other UND fan today (Saturday), not unlikely as we start tomorrow. Always a home game for the SDSU teams but their fans show up.

UND had a hospitality room before the women’s semifinal game last year.  It was a smaller room, but decently done.  You have to remember this is a two way street.  It is hard to demand a large hospitality suite if only 12 of us show up.  Last year, there were a handful of faithful fans, some UND administration, and parents present.  Until  we show up in force in Sioux Falls, there is very little reason to have a large hospitality room.  I would like nothing better than to have enough of a presence that a large scale production is required.  Unfortunately, we are not there yet.  SDSU has a massive room with all of the bells and whistles which is very impressive, but they own that tournament.  3/4 of the people there will be bunny fans with the Yotes taking most of the rest.  USD had a nice room as well.  I don’t recall seeing what NDSU did.  Sioux Falls does a nice job with the tournament.  However, The downside to this tournament is with the semis on Monday and Tuesday, it is a short evening drive for the SD schools and days off work for everyone else….  It is a huge advantage.

Agreed last year's room was just the right size, it was actually crowded at times and UND made it nice and welcoming. Our teams need to get better and road fans will follow. However having semis and finals on Monday/Tuesday is a buzz kill.

I just feel bad for the guys on this team.  We have a really good fun team to watch and they cant even get some of respect other schools are giving their players and fans.  I can see why recruiting here for basketball is so difficult.   I just feel like from school, the Betty and the students have not given this team any respect or love.  If They make the NCAA tournament it will be way more coverage for the school then any hockey championship would.   The first four round got 5.41MM viewers, the first round teams got 8.4MM viewers.   The hockey Championship game got 808,000.

Actually fan support was pretty good this year, they put an entertaining competitive team on the court and fans responded. Watching some road games on Midco and our home crowds compared well if not better. The media in Fargo was begging fans to attend so games.

Just checked UND Insider - has UND announced if they are having a social room at the Summit Tournament? Seems a bit odd that nothing is obvious on the website. Really not wanting to have to go down this path.

A friend reached out to UND and the response they got back was about what you would expect from a hockey school. Not having anything on Sunday as there are no social rooms available (like this event was a surprise) but plans for a room on Monday/Tuesday if teams advance. Based on their record Sunday would have been the only opportunity for a pre-game gathering for the women's BB team. Friend said last year SDSU, USD and NDSU had large gathering rooms - guess we'll have to duck into their rooms pre-game.
