  1. UND gets into the Big Sky and there is excitement. First it's a top level conference and they turned down Moo U. Won the conference within a few years. Then reality sets in and the travel costs, recruiting challenges (kids in Midwest want to be able to play in the Midwest) and lack of teams that are of interest to ND fans takes a toll (Portland State anyone)?. So UND moves back to The Summit and is out on an island for a few years (which hurts recruiting). Then rivalries return along with the recruiting region. The reality is UND is now playing one of the toughest schedules every year and for now is the #3/4 team in a two team conference.

Cries to return to the Big Sky make my head scratch.

Was a poor decision to bring him back in first place. Hopefully now our focus on Michigan, Ohio, and Canada will reduce.

Pleases share why you think expanding the recruiting area is a bad thing.

Motherwell resigns again. Might be a good thing for the program. I’m sure Hutter came in and Mal gave him a lot of authority to how the program should be run and certain schemes and philosophies.

Talked with Coach Mo briefly in Sioux Falls, he wax optimistic about turning things around, but said there would be some changes coming. No other details, but I assumed he meant the roster, turned out it was the coaching staff.

  4. I see four more wins. Which games do you see us winning if Danny was still here? Every school dealing with portal issues. Youngstown State just lost a key skills player to portal. Special teams wins us at least one if not two games. 8-4 (I want to be optimistic for the players).

    Iowa State - L

    Montana - L

    Idaho State - W

    San Diego - W

    Murray State - W

    NDSU - L

    UNI - W (home cooking)

Youngstown State - W (we beat them there two years ago and they took some portal hits)

Indiana State - W (Larry Bird ain't coming through that door)

    SDSU - L

USD - W (only because we never lose to them at home)

Illinois State - W (playoffs could be on the line, we'll know what we have by now)

I guess we'll learn if small town North Dakota translates to DI basketball. We really need to get stronger under the basket. South Dakota schools seem to do okay with them.

Some other schools are currently still in spring ball.  One can assume there will be movement when that wraps up.

Living a lie during spring ball.

And a coach will sit down in a kids living room, look him and his parents in the eyes, and tell him he has no interest in taking any other jobs... then accept a new job the next day. Integrity, honesty, blah blah blah....

All the more reason they should be committing to the school and not a specific coach.

Yup. Sam Hagen is in the portal???? Did not see that coming

Any insights into how this goes down? A coach sits across from a player they have spent two years supporting and developing in their academic and athletic life. Kid says everything is fine one day and the next the coach sees them in the portal?

So the kid was lying and plotting the whole time for a bag of silver. One injury, or they don't meet expectations, and that new school, which sees them as a piece of meat, will throw them on the scrap heap and have a new bag for the next one on the list.

Integrity, honesty, friendships, gone for a bag of silver that will be gone in a year.

What kind of questions do you ask? I doubt he'd say that Berry would be in any trouble if Bubba was given an extension.  I am more concerned about the state of the football program. Think about this, our O-Cordinaro, a UND grad left for a conference foe.  We lost his replacement to NDSU. This program is a dumpster fire. We can’t win anywhere but at home. That concerns me more.

Jury is out, but I am fine with SU taking Landry, revealed a character flaw we do not need. Offensive was good but did not feel it was progressing. Change us good.

  10. In the overall picture of college hockey which of these are overrated or underrated:

    Culture
    Facilities
    Fan base
    Traveling fans
    Star players
    School location
    Private chef
    Puck luck
    Hot goalie

    Feel free to add on...

How many are actually sports fans, and how many are people that don't give a rip about sports and think it would be wrong to get rid of someone especially in something as unimportant as sports.

It's obviously not showing the results you want, but It's also obvious that it is not a valid poll, it just shows a snapshot of people reading at the time with motivation to click a button. It will provide a little fodder for a future article I'm sure.

Yep. Although UND football would sure love to even just be ranked the #1 team in the country at some point during the season. Football team hasn't even sniffed that in two decades.

Honest question - if the football team had the resources the hockey team had - would it make a difference (I think we could assume if they had those resources the staff would be upgraded).

Don’t see much of a move up for Tyree with those schools

what kind of NIL would be available ,someone was in his ear

Done with him, he leaves after great support from UND his freshman year, sits for two years, grovels back, then leaves again. Really have to wonder what kind of an education he is getting for his future. Seems to be all about him.
