  1. This thread has been about "legacy" as a Sioux. It is a worthy topic and in no way suggest we are at all what you mentioned above. It is a fair discussion to consider players "legacy" impact on a team.

To correct you as well, in my above thread I asked about what players had the greatest legacy and I qualified that as being measured by several things including high end numbers as an expample, so it was never intended to just be about championships. Although, I will argue that winning titles goes along way in creating "legacy".

Do you think Eruzione would be a US olympic legacy if the US would have not won the gold. How bout Bird or JOhnson in the NBA?

Consider this, I strongly feel that Cris Carter was the best receiver of all time in the NFL. I think he was in a league of his own when it came to the ability to make an incredible catch or get to the first down marker. How many people would say he was a greater receiver than, say, Jerry Rice? Not many, but I watched them both and I say Cris Carter made 10 catches every year that were as incredible as Rice's 10 best for his whole career. BUT Carter did not win championships? Nope! So there you go.

Now, following what my previous post was about, Sioux legacy, you and I share the same favorite Sioux player. I have never seen a Sioux player that matches Greg Johnson's talents and level of play.

In my opinion he is a top 5 UND legacy. I base this on his numbers. 4 years with 50pts! (55,79,74,54). When was the last player who got 50pts for the Sioux in any year? He holds the record for career assists.

That is a quite a legacy I think..

Ummm. 2007 Duncan and Oshie both were over 50. Dunc-57, Osh-52...

  2. I would personally love if Eades got that job. No disrespect to him, but Brad Berry is one of the best in the business. He wants to be back with UND. Plus he was a defenseman and a defensive coach. Eades was a forward, but coaches defense at UND. I have personally talked to a former player who had both Eades and Berry as coaches, and he said Berry was the best coach he ever had. And this player gave up some eligibility to go pro because of the whole situation.

    Just my 2 cents.

  3. The best quote on there from Ralph:

"Tradition is the gentle fabric woven through time and experience which generates meaning, character, and identity to one and all. The Fighting Sioux logo, the Fighting Sioux uniforms, the aura of the Fighting Sioux tradition and the spirit of being a Fighting Sioux are of lasting value and immeasurable signifigance to our past, presence, and future." -Ralph Engelstad

  4. Does anyone know where you can find one? I have seen the "Blackhawks" style ones which you can find on Ebay. But I have also seen the current logo ones, but not sure where to find those. Any ideas?

  5. The one day that I was working and could time off from work and was watching the game I was talking to my buddy and the sioux scored a goal and then 7 seconds latter I saw the goal.

The whole world is now dumber for this comment. Try proof reading your comments.

  6. I'm not on the fire Hak bandwagon cause he is a good coach and WILL win a Nat'l Title.

But.....EIDSNESS is brutal. and has been the whole time he has been here. the Sioux will NOT win a Nat'l title with him in net. They need to quit recruiting goalies from the AJHL. Good goalies are in the USHL or NTDP or Minnesota highschool or Shattuck. Eids is aweful with rebounds, gives up soft and untimely goals, and is clueless on where the puck is 95% of the time.

  7. I think this just goes to show you what happens when you committ to a college at 14 or 15 yrs old. Remember what you were doing at that age? No, either do I. But I do know college was not what I was thinking about. Although this hurts for CC, I can't wait to see him in a SIOUX uniform

  8. Ok, his line is that he's 6'3 197 and he's 21. So.... this sounds like a recruited walk on.

At least that's what it sounds like to me.

From the looks of it, I totally agree:

    Genoway

    Marto

    LaPointe

    Blood

    Fienhage

    Gleason

    McWilliam

    and now--Hill

He will definitely be the 8th D, so barring any injuries, I would guess we see very little of him

  9. I think the question is, will he be moving to Fargo to play HS? Probably not ready for the USHL yet, and I do know he was going to be transferring from RR to Central this year, but I wonder if this throws a wrench in those plans?

I highly doubt it, im sure the family will stay in Grand Forks.

  10. Hmmm... makes me wonder where Luke Johnson will be playing hockey next season?

That would be Grand Forks Central. He is transferring from RR to GFC. He is not even close to playing in the USHL this year. Look for him to spend his 10th-12th grade years in the USHL. And also look to Fargo making a trade to get his rights.

  11. just a observation from looking at the roster coming up and nhl draft numbers

i would have to believe this will be the most nhl draft picks on 1 sioux team at once. i have the list from my website here and then also the guys who may and can get drafted this june. we have 14 players in or coming in drafted and 3 for sure draft picks in cichy, knight and mattson with rodwell a maybe. ust interesting to see as we all know it doesnt mean anything but just caught my eye

Very interesting..Remember back in the 90's when the Sioux would be lucky to have one draft pick on their roster. Now in 2009-10, they have the potential to have 18 draft picks on their roster

  12. I don't remember exact dates, but it was the Gophers series at the Ralph. I want to say either February 14th or 15th, 1998.

You are correct, that was the Sunday afternoon game. The "comeback classic". One of the best ever games at the Old Ralph. Sioux were down either 3-0 or 4-0 with 17 mins left in the 3rd and came back and completed the sweep. On the Jason Blake play, it did not look intentional, but looked like it hurt. I believe the Gopher defensman was Brett Abrahamson
