When the Sioux hosted the regional a couple years ago (Holy Cross) did the team stay in a hotel that weekend?
No they did not. They stayed at their normal residence's

Chay Genoway had a great post game skate over at the Olympic Arena. He neeeded that one. Rough game for him......Ooooofda.
Ps. How do you bag skate yourself? I bet he had a great couple HOT LAPS. Reminded me of Mark Dobmierer over at River Cities Speedway

Anyone know if there is any tv for this weekend at all?
-
While attending a tourney in Blaine recently, I heard from some Anchorage folks that the Sioux were going after the Force's Brian Cooper.
Hammy from GPL claims that Cooper is deciding between U of M and UNO

Who would have thought Danny Kristo would only have 1 point so far (0 goals-1 assists)

Uhhhh ohh...This is not good...
From twitter:
From Bemidji Youth hky "The BREC has encountered an issue that makes the ice unskateable today" Uh oh. Anyone know what happened?

On tsn.ca it looks like Kozek has been placed on the injured reserve from Atlanta, anyone have any updates on him?
Thanks
Siouxhockey5
He had hernia surgery and didn't play in any of the training camp..I'm guessing he is just rehabbing in ATL before they send him down when he is ready to Chicago (AHL)

Derek Forbort is the real deal. That was easy to see. He was out there for all 5 UND goals. That was no coincidence.
Projected lineup this weekend.
Trupp-Malone-Frattin
Gregoire-Knight-Hextall
Cichy-Nelson-Kristo
Lamoureux-Rowney
MacWilliam-Genoway
Blood-Forbort
Marto-Lapointe
Simpson
Eidsness
Dell

OK, I'll play. Now, there will be extra skaters so these will vary quite a bit throughout the game, but here's what I foresee.
Gregoire - Knight - Kristo
Trupp - Malone - Frattin
Nelson - Lamoureux - Hextall
Cichy - Rowney - Bruneteau
Forbort - Genoway
Blood - MacWilliam
Simpson - LaPoint (Marto replaces Simpson if he is able to play...not sure what his injury status is).
Eidsness
Dell
Belfour
I don't know how, but we have 7 awesome defensemen...which means someone will have to sit. I think Forbort and Simpson will rotate in that final spot barring injury. Hak seems to like a puck mover with a defender on each defensive pairing, so I kept it true to form there for the most part.
The team lacks depth in the center position, which could hurt us. That was a strong suit last year, but losing two huge guys at that position in Zajac and Vande Velde will hurt. Malone has proven to be great there, but Knight is still relatively inexperienced, and Lamoureux doesn't scare too many opponents offensively, and that only covers three lines. Not knowing much about Rodwell, but has he played center in juniors? If so, that might be a huge asset.
Team POY - Chay is the easy pick, but I think Jason Gregoire will be right up there at the end of the year.
DOY - Chay, Blood as the runner up.
ROY - Nelson
Most Improved - Michael Cichy
MOY - Eades (mustache of the year)
The Kyle Radke Award for being the other team's worst nightmare - Andrew MacWilliam

At least we have a compitent 3rd goal in Ed Belfour. Still has 3 years of eligibility left.

With Schmaltz now committing, it reminds me that we've been on the good end of a lot of recruits de-committing for their first choice and picking UND..
-Jason Gregoire-formerly committed to Denver before switching to UND
-Mario Lamoureux-formerly committed to Northern Michigan before switching to UND
-Colten St. Clair-formerly committed to Colorad College before switching to UND
-Jordan Schmaltz-formerly committed to Wisconsin before switching to UND
Any others that you can remember, feel free to post

Highly touted forward recruit AJ Michaelson from Apple Valley said he has narrowed down his choices to U of M and UND. He will make his decision after attending the BSU-UND opening series in Bemidji.
He is a junior in highschool right now.

Doesn't mean anything but...
Moncton has a goaltender that measures 5'1" tall!
Holy crap!
He must be a stand up goaltender. If he went down in the butterfly, 3/4ths of the net would be open.
Haha. I saw that. But its a mistake. I googled his name. It's supposed to be 5'11''

Looks like Brett Malone (Brad's brother) is playing for the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL, which means no college hockey for him. Pretty impressive as he just turned 16.

Pretty sure Nolan Zajac is still with Cedar Rapids (USHL) who he played for last season
-
to those who have seen these two play or know their games more than the average joe which one is considered to be better overall? or are they both top notch talent for their respective draft class along with the 2 guys from shattuck?
the size that hudson has at that age is amazing and iunderstand they are still young but seem to be big time talents
Who are the 2 Shattuck guys?

Don't know if this has been posted, but Andy Baggot out of Wisconsin is reporting it's "expected" Wisconsin decommit Jordan Schmaltz will wind up playing for North Dakota. Also, a poster at USCHO reported that Baggot indicated during a radio show that Schmaltz' family had stated North Dakota was the "best fit" for him.

That would be a huge pickup for the Sioux...but don't count out Major Juniors in Canada either for Schmaltz

Looks like Wisconsin committ Troy Hekseth was close to going to UND. His whole family went here and UND was his favorite team growing up. He was scheduled to play for Fargo (USHL) but with McDonough leaving for the NHL, he will probably be heading to Wisco this year

Anyone have any more news on this?

Archie has retired from the Border Patrol. Josh is his son. Small player but tough as nails (I wonder where he gets that from). He can be an agitater like Prpich or a less skilled Hexall.
So in otherwords, expect him to come to UND in a couple years! I can't imagine Archie would want him any other place, and I'm sure the kid has heard plenty of good stories from his Dad

Riley Simpson (who I believe is the younger brother of Dillon) was picked by Fargo in the USHL draft today.
The draft listed Riley's birthday as 11/30/93 and Dillon's is 2/10/93.
Anyone have any insight on this? This is possible, but they are barely more than 9 months apart...
