  1. Yes, but what you fail to realize is that Seeler is a highly rated NHL prospect from the renowned Golden Gophers who only took out a lowly state school player (who is barely worth mentioning really). Downing took out a precious little gem who should be treated with the highest level of respect reserved only for Gophers, royalty, and Don Lucia's hair.
  2. That wasn't the big issue. The issue was that players can be under NHL contract and be "sent down" to the CHL, which essentially makes it a minor league feeder to the NHL. Basically, it's a poor paying AHL with an upper age limit.
  3. Thanks. Age seemed about right for a father/son or uncle/nephew relationship, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
  4. At least two of those four schools have publically abandoned the "gentleman's agreement". I don't suspect he was contacted prior to his decommitment, I presume it. Boston College is well known for recruiting verbal commitments to other schools. I'm going to suspect they're the frontrunner for Wahlstrom's services.
  5. Anybody know if Nick Lund of Grand Forks Central HS is any relation to Billy Lund from SCSU? He seems to be having a decent U17 camp thus far.
  6. Dang, that was fast! Who else?
  7. Uncommitted prospects ranked by Central Scouting for the 2015 NHL draft
  8. Jim did the crunching and it looks like the Huskies have a 21% shot with just a tie. Pulling the goalie would be a bad move, however, as EAGs only happen 10-15% of the time while ENGs happen more often. They'd be better off trying to preserve the tie. Although, if either FSU or UNH win Friday night, the Huskies may just want to be ready to pull Lindgren. If FSU, UNH, & UMN all lose Friday night, a tie might be better than a 50% shot.
  9. So much for consistency, eh?
  10. Yeah, I was wrong about that. The NCHC made the call on BEHALF of the top seed. They assumed #1 would want the extra rest for the Championship rather than follow their regular Friday routine and play in front of a huge crowd. Maybe it's the correct assumption... I don't know. Somebody should ask Hak.
  11. You sure about that? I think Nicklas Backstrom would at least keep it close even if he doesn't have Toews's intangibles. No doubt JT is clearly better than Stall, Johnson, Kessel, or Giroux.
  12. I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Hakstol for giving me a good excuse to take the day off from work by choosing to play in the four o'clock game.
  13. No need to leave it to chance!
  14. Kind of a blessing/curse. If there was no 3rd place game, the Huskies could lose on Friday and still have a .500 record with a decent shot at an at-large bid. Instead, they'd now HAVE to win the third place game with a GREAT shot at an at-large bid. Actually, they could technically tie the 3rd place game and still have a decent shot. They're going to need (somebody like) Jim Dahl's help to determine whether to preserve a tie or go all-out for an overtime win if it shakes out that way.
  15. Should be a great game! I think you guys should consider throwing the game for the sake of getting six NCHC teams in the NCAA tourney. Thoughts?
  16. No worry of that. CC is locked in 8th and WMU is virtually locked in 9th. UND has a nice margin of points between them and UNO/DU/UMD. SCSU will almost surely be on the road at Miami, UNO, DU, or UMD. I'm hoping its UMD so that St. Cloud can have a fair amount of fans in attendance.
  17. True, but just getting to the Target Center might not be enough. They could potentially go 2-3 in the NCHC playoffs if they lose the third place game. Their most likely road to the NCAA tourney would be a split this weekend, a split against DU, and going 1-2 on the road in the opening round of the NCHC tournament. That would put them at .500 on the season and just inside the bubble. I don't expect it to actually play out that way, but of ALL the potential scenarios, I see this as the most likely that gets them in. My personal belief is that they don't get any points this weekend and the bandwagon will empty out but keep rolling very slowly towards DU and the NCHC playoffs. We'll see.
  18. Husky bandwagon is filling up again. We're probably a bit more optimistic than we should be, but there are some good reasons for that. The first is that they only need to play .500 hockey from this point forward to make the NCAA tourney. That will be difficult, but doable. The second reason is that the Huskies swept an Omaha team that hasn't been swept all season. The third reason is that the Huskies have scored 34 goals in their last 8 games (4.25 average). Although, a bunch of those were against the hapless CC Tigers. The fourth is that the Huskies have only given up 13 goals in that same span (1.63 GAA) including two shutouts. And finally, the truth is that even a sweep on the road at UND doesn't entirely knock the Huskies out of contention. In fact, even just one tie score post OT would likely keep them inside the bubble. All that being said, I think the Huskies will likely get swept in two close games. They'll score first then give up the lead on Friday. They'll fall behind then come up just short on Saturday. I think this because I don't feel the Huskies respond well to success. After two consecutive Saturday night wins, the Huskies have blown leads on both of the following Friday night games. They managed to wrestle a lead back from Omaha this past Friday, but I don't think that would be possible against UND. I hope they prove me wrong.
  19. Yeah, way too early to say for sure, but he was an under age bantam last year and is the (I believe) leading scorer for Blaine's AA Bantams as an eighth grader. I think he's a late 2000 birth-year, so we should have a chance to see him in the High Performance / Select process this summer. It'll be interesting to see what he can do in comparison to K'Andre Miller and Jaxon Nelson. Easton may not have much of an offer from SCSU at this point either... possibly just a promise of a roster spot. He'll be on the long road to SCSU. Also, all of the Brodzinskis are(were) hardcore SCSU fans, Michael included. However, Michael had an opportunity to carve his own path and he took it. Nothing wrong with that. Luckily, it's becoming pretty clear that SCSU ended up with the better collegiate hockey player (Jonny). Nobody would have predicted that three years ago. Also, there's no gaurantee that Jonny will be the better pro, but that's irrelevant to us college fans. I'm pretty sure Bryce will play for SCSU if given the chance.
  20. I'm pretty sure he has some family in the St. Cloud area, but I'm not going to give any weight to that factor. If he gets offers from UND, Notre Dame, and Minnesota, there's no way he'll be a Husky. Just being realistic. Also, if he's a really smart kid, he could entertain Ivy league offers as other Edina kids have done in the past.
  21. That's kind of my point. If he's getting hype, it's for a reason. At the same time, if the "big name schools" weren't recruiting him, it doesn't mean he won't be a stud. Basically, he wasn't getting hyped BECAUSE "big name schools" were recruiting him, he was getting hyped because of his play. Nothing wrong with that.
  22. Don't hate. The kid's a player. It could just be the "traditionally successful" schools didn't have room. None of the "traditionally successful" schools made a push for Drew Leblanc or Nic Dowd either.
  23. I suppose it does, but I typically try to engage at the source first before taking it back to my own fanbase. I own and use accounts at GPL, scsuhockey.com, ushsho.com, finishyourcheck, and USCHO (among others). Interacting with other teams' fans is part of the fun of being a fan. It's even more fun when you take it to their house!
  24. He referred to something written on another message board on GPL, rather than addressing it on THAT team's message board. Based on that, I figured it wasn't unreasonable to assume that a opinion I offered on this message board may again be referenced on GPL. It was not the first time it's occurred.
  25. I think SCSU has one of these. Patrick Russell turned 21 in January. EDIT: Never mind. This just means Russell in ineligible for a redshirt exemption because his 4 in 5 is now just a 4 in 4. That is, he has four years to complete four seasons of eligibility. So, no redshirt.
