LaFrance is one of the better ball-handlers and passers on the team, but I rather see her used at the 2 or 3 spot because of her rebounding abilities. The PG generally has to get back on defense and doesn't get many offensive boards. Bergan played 39 minutes against SD, so if she can handle being in most of the game (35 min or more) then LaFrance or Guinn could give her just a little break.

Sounds like a great match up! I looked up some noteable stats for a few players that seem to be stepping up in recent games (aside from Kimbrough and Guinn which is what we need to win in D-1 games). Youngblut is 7/14 from the 3-pt line in the last 3 games. (50%) Bagaason is 10/17 from the 3-pt line in the last 4 games. (59%) Bergan is 16/38 from the 3-pt line in the last 6 games. (42%) Both LaFrance and Ledger have 31 rebounds in the last 5 games. If those first three players continue to shoot the ball well, and the Bismarck girls continue to get after the boards, I think the Sioux have a great chance of winning! GO SIOUX!!!!

Coach Roebuck is very unpredictable. Think of how many times the starting line-up has changed. Privratsky playing time has been limited last night and against Northwestern. LaFrance had a good run at NAU, Ark., and Toledo, which were good teams (not Jamestown/Mayville teams) but now she hasn't been getting as many minutes. Both Seay and Lof barely saw the court last night either. It doesn't make sense. In my opinion, I think Roebuck needs to be more consistant, because it is hard for players to get in a flow if they don't know if they're going to play 20 min one game and 5 min the next. I also think he needs to give players a break. If they screw up, they get taken out of the game which leads to playing scared. Just give them a chance. A perfect example is Bagaason. She was getting subbed out for mistakes but has been given a chance and stepped up at Northwestern and last night again Lamar. We need her to do the same tonight! Good luck ladies! Go Sioux!

I would agree that some players could pass a little more instead of worrying about just scoring. Assists are good stats too, ladies!

Maybe there needs to be a line up change, or at least give others girls an opportunity. Our best defender IMO is Seay, and she is coming off the bench. LaFrance seems productive in her limited playing time by getting a few rebounds and points. Also, I've seen Lof knock down some shots and run the floor well at their home games. Kimbrough and Guinn are no doubt the ones we need to looked to for leadership and scoring, but there needs to be contributions from other players to relieve pressure off of them. As far as Roebuck putting the blame on his girls every time is ridiculous. Yes, they are partly responsible, but he needs to be accountable for "giving up" or MAYBE just being out-coached. If you constantly tell the girls they aren't good enough to play, they're going to start believing that - and that's the last thing they need.

The ladies scrimmage Moorhead State on Wednesday around 4 pm.

If Bagaason is healthy I suspect she would replace Beck at the 3 spot. Bergan should be point guard, with Guinn at the 4 spot and Alys at the 2. I think there are several players capable of getting the job done, but I think that is a solid line-up with good experience. Youngblut is good, but I don't think she's ready to start. She might benefit us more coming off the bench as a spark. All the other guards have at least 2 years of game experience under their belt and I think that will be vital to the line-up.

I'm already aware that females have more ACL tears than males; my concern is why does half our team have serious knee injuries that require surgery? I can honestly say I have never heard of a team with more than one or two serious knee injuries in a season, and we combined for 7 surgeries (excluding the new freshmen Privratsky and Thingstad's injuries.) Maybe it is just bad luck, but that just might be an ignorant response to a serious question concerning the girls' health. I just hope this is being assessed, because this team can't afford to lose anymore of the girls to injuries.

If you break it down, practically half the team has had knee surgery in the last year! Bagaason, Kimbrough (twice), Guinn, Gillett (twice), Sannes (no longer on the team), Privratzky, and now Thingstad?? Maybe they need to cut back on weights or something. I think it's great that all of the girls are willing to live up here and work out in the summer - it shows a lot of dedication - but I have never heard of any other teams with this many injuries, especially knee injuries! That's not even counting Ledger's back or Lafrance's ankles. Injuries occur all the time on teams, but does anyone find it a little bit strange at the amount of injuries on our team??

I think they have more injured/recovering players than healthy players. I've heard several players are still not back to full strength. This squad has a lot to prove this year, and the potential is there. However, I have a feeling injuries may hold them back at some point.

Kimbrough is an excellent player no doubt about that, but to say that she played well on both ends of the court is absurd. She was terrible defensively last night, and most nights. She is a great offensive threat, but is definitely a liability on the defensive end of the floor.

I should have clarified myself and said better teams. I was thinking of top 10 teams that will have a chance at nationals; Mankato is nowhere near winning nationals. Not a word was said about replacing Guinn, either. I just would like to have seen Lafrance get some playing time out there against a press because of her court vision. Five-time defending state champions, Mandan, who is infamous for their defense and pressing the heck out of teams, did not press against her because she was so good at breaking it single-handedly. I'd like to also comment on Kimbrough's play last night. She played so well on both ends of the court, but only shot the ball five times and still managed 17 points! Aside from Langen's eight turnovers, she also played exceptional!

Kimbrough was recruited by many, many D-I schools. They weren't small ones either - Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota, etc. She is by far my favorite player to watch because she gets excited and she plays with so much quickness and finesse. She has the ideal build for a post, and her talent is mind-boggling. She, no doubt, could have been a star at a big time college. Yet, UND landed her, and the program has maintained its tradition because of her. That's taking nothing away from other players. The program would not maintain as well if Langen, Boese, or Jahner would not have been here either. However, in my opinion, I feel Kimbrough is the best player to play here.

Winning big wouldn't have been my first choice of words. They had too many turnovers - 24 total and a third of them by Langen. They can't win against good teams if they play sloppy like that; they need a point guard to lead out there. It's too bad Lafrance has been injured this season; I would have liked to see what she could have done this year. She was one of the top point guards in the state since her sophomore year in high school.

Kimbrough was God's gift to UND! In the end, whether it shows statistically or not, I think she will have been the best player to ever play for UND.

According to the article LaFrance should be back soon, but it did not specify if it meant practice or games.

I think UND will be alright when it comes to recruiting. If what was mentioned earlier on the forum about being eligible for the NIT tourament, they will gain a small advantage. I think they will have a good shot at going to the NIT tourney if they are able to pick up some good games against good teams. I haven't heard what other offers privratsky received, but I know that sophomore through seniors on the team all received some form of a d-1 offer. I am not sure about the freshman this year. On another board, I read lafrance was recruited by NDSU and the University of Wyoming, who were the women's NIT champs this year. I comepletely agree with the statement that ND doesn't produce an abundance of d-1 talent, but there are those few special players each season. This year, I think it's great the sioux got gillette and lafrance, and next year it's great they got privratsky.

She is very, very fast. From what I have observed, she does not have much of a left hand, but it's nothing that can't be taught. She will do very well at UND as soon as she finds her role on the team. I think she will be looked at to distribute the ball more than anything because she has such great passing abilities. As far as whalin, I never expected her to choose UND. I think she would want to go to a bigger school that can play in tournaments. Also, with LaFrance and now Privratsky going there, that is just adding to all of the competition in the guard spot. If UND was not going through their transition period during whalin's college career, then maybe she would choose UND. She is a competitor so I would just think she wants to play in tournaments. However, I may be wrong and she could still choose the sioux!

Anyone going to make it to the Gillett girls' game tonight at the Betty?? I can't but whoever does should let us know how they look.

I know they can pull out three wins, but when it comes tournament time they are going to need an extra athletic guard like Beck. Jahner is practically playing the entire game lately, and it would be nice to get a rest when several games will be played in a short amount of time. Anyone know how long she is out for or how severe it is?

I have a feeling Wahlin will not choose UND. She has several other D-1 offers to schools that are tournament eligible. If she attends UND she will not get a single year of eligibility.

What was the infraction? Since they were benched only for the first half, I can't imagine it was anything too serious. I also agree that the girls have been playing so well lately. I've checked up on next years recruits, and they are also having very successful seasons. All of them are ranked in the state, and LaFrance's team is #1 in ND for class A. Both Lof and LaFrance's teams are undefeated, and Gillett's team has one loss (I believe by a point-huge upset in first game of the season). But they beat the #2 team in ND for class B a few days ago. Very engouraging all around.
