  1. That's a pretty nice schedule where the Sioux avoid extended brutal stretches against tough opposition. Should be able to avoid extended losing streaks fairly easily.
  2. According to the USCHO commitments thread, Swedish National Team player Klara Myren formerly listed as a UND recruit has decided to play at Vermont. I cannot vouch for the accuracy but it sounds like legit info.
  3. May be true, but those others don't have any input on WCHA recognitions, so it's not really accurate to imply it's a matter of "being punished." The twins aren't the only players that perhaps don't / didn't get the recognition they're due when it comes to WCHA post season awards. I'm pretty sure there is an attempt to spread the wealth and with the number of excellent players in the conference, quite a few aren't going to get recognized as they probably deserve. Minnesota had the top three scoring freshmen in the conference, but the third highest scoring frosh behind the top two gets boned out of the All Rookie team in favor of a lower scoring frosh from a different team.
  4. If you knew Brad Frost and his staff you'd realize there's no way any of them would be that petty. Frost would only vote for players based on their merits. He's a guy with nothing but the utmost integrity. Besides the fact he holds no ill will towards the twins. If a player doesn't want to be part of his team and wants to move on, he's accepting of their decision.
  5. Nope...Minnetonka's Julie Friend was chosen "Senior Goalie of the Year." Miller no longer has a stranglehold on top Euros. Quite a few have gone to other programs the last few years. A good thing. She still gets a good number of Canada's best though.
  6. Ah...that had a little something to do with having a European Olympic All Star team. Miller is a good coach. Other than that she sucks.
  7. Actually, the team played noticeably better and was noticeably more competitive as soon as Idalski took over...versus when Ms. Rivard was at the helm, despite their unfavorable finishes in the WCHA standings. Even before the twins took the ice in the Sioux uniform. I know some will probably comment it's not saying much regarding my reference to Rivard. You've got a pretty significant group of impact players on the way for 2011-2012. I'm not a huge fan of Idalski but I believe with the talent he can meet Sioux fan expectations.
  8. A place in WCHA The Final Face Off for the Sioux...a history making moment. I sincerely hope the Sioux can push the Badgers to the limit in their semi, at the very least. I'll be there and I'd love to see it.
  9. https://45.grandstadium.tv/LiveGameSchedule.aspx Next game in the Minnesota State Tournament at 5:50PM features a couple of Sioux recruits if you're interested. Webcasts are free, you just need to register.
  10. In case anyone wants to keep tabs on any of your recruits from Minnesota, a good site for doing so: http://www.mngirlshockeyhub.com/page/show/113956-minnesota-girls-hockey-coaches-association Player stats can be found under the "Leaders" tab. Click "Varsity Teams" for complete players list. The Marvins are off to a quick start. I don't think anyone is surprised by that.
  11. UM swept Clarkson at Clarkson...Clarkson was ranked #7 at the time.
  12. Some WCHA team previews for 2010-2011 http://www.examiner.com/minnesota-golden-gophers-women-s-hockey-in-minneapolis/team-profile-bemidji-state-beavers http://www.examiner.com/minnesota-golden-gophers-women-s-hockey-in-minneapolis/team-profile-wisconsin-badgers The Badgers will be very strong. I don't see Bemidji being ahead of Ohio State or North Dakota in the WCHA standings for 2010-2011.

  14. Does this include the hometown girls?
  15. Everyone healthy and ready to go this weekend? Will the Sioux steal some points from the visiting Gophers?
  16. Hope the Sioux take it to Niagara...always want the WCHA to come out on top vs. CHA, HE & ECAC of course. Niagara is a decent team with some talent. Ashley Riggs is their main sniper...small but very good. (If she hasn't graduated that is...haven't kept track.)
  17. Here's another I just heard / read about...in case you didn't already know: Stephanie Ramsay.........D..........(Calgary Oval X-Treme).........Charlottetown, P.E.I.
  18. I don't know much. You may already be aware of these UND recruits...but they're the only ones I'm aware of so far. Ashley Holmes..............D.........(USA 18s/Alexandria HS).....................Miltona, MN Alyssa Wiebe................F........(CAN 18s/AM Notre Dame)...............Saskatoon, SK That's two from the U18 national team rosters of USA & Canada and the obvious talent that got them there. Excellent start.
  19. Every D-I program would have liked to have them on their roster...to put it mildly. Perhaps they can best answer the question themselves: http://www.gophersports.com/ViewArticle.db...;ATCLID=1312733
  20. Extremely common for talented players in high school. Doesn't mean they won't be a solid player having impact in the college game where the change / adjustment is required and most often accomplished. It's a change most all gifted players have to make when moving on to D-I from high school. Many high school hockey coaches are largely to blame IMO when they have such a player on their roster, and their coaching philosophy is "everybody get the puck to her" in the interest of winning, rather than teaching. Not all HS coaches of course, and some of those players do struggle more than others with the adjustment.
  21. Well, ya just never do know until those NLI's are signed. However, I wouldn't assume Laura Halldorson resigning her position would, or will negatively impact current or future recruit commitments.
  22. I'm more than a little puzzled by so many having difficulty respecting the decision of the Lamoureux twins. When following announcements of college commitments including verbals, I'm used to seeing congratulatory posts only. At least on the women's side.
  23. Not 'til season after next tho. In case Sioux fans aren't already aware of current recruits headed to UND thus far: North Dakota Grace Edgar.........G..............(NAHA)............... .........Plano, TX Kelly Lewis...........D......(MN Thoroughbreds).......Forest Lake, MN Addie Miles...........F.........(Warner School)...........Winnipeg, MTB Emily Sell..............F..........(Williston HS)................Williston, ND Considering how young the team is, this could be it I s'pose.
