Unfortunately, the only ticket available right now is the full four-day pass to the festival. $180. I don't know, though, if they will eventually add a two- or one-day pass, though.

Just finished. I don't like this one as much because of the giant black area at the bottom. The Sioux logo works better because it's more about lines and accents. I think in the future for large areas I'm going to try to figure out how to make it look like a solid shaded area rather than an area that's colored in, if that makes any sense.

I actually got the whole thing as a kit. It came with two slices of wood, the woodburner, a sheet of paper with some patterns and a peice of carbon paper to transfer the patterns to the wood. If you head over to Michaels they might have the kit. Otherwise I know they have woodburners (with a variety of tips, somewhere between $15 and $40) and an assortment of slices of wood (already cut, dried and sanded). It's a very cheap hobby to get involved in. My only recommendation from my oh-so-extensive knowledge of the hobby is that if you can afford to spend a couple extra bucks on a better burner, definitely go for it. You'd get a hotter iron so it will burn more easily (or maybe even an adjustable one, i really have no idea). Plus I can only imagine if you spend a bit more the handle might be insulated a bit more. I actually have to wear a glove after a little bit because my hand gets so hot. I've already got the logo for the Minnesota Wild traced onto the other slice of wood that came with the kit. I'll probably try that one out tomorrow.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought some people might enjoy it. I got a beginner woodburning kit a couple months ago and when I finally cracked it open I decided to try out burning a Sioux logo. It's rather complex to try as a first try at this hobby, but it's a really cool logo. It didn't turn out perfect, but hey, it was my first try! It wasn't done free hand, but I printed out a black and white copy of the logo, and traced it on using the supplied (with the kit) carbon paper. After that it was just following the lines, then filling it in. Here it is before I filled it in: http://sugarwill.com/projects/logo/100_0381.JPG

It's interesting to hear different perspectives about our team. The Tech announcers are talking about how the Sioux are great at antagonizing other teams. He said "I don't mean that in a bad way". He was complimenting them on how good they are at getting under the skin of the other teams. He also commented how the Sioux are a tough team to play year in and year out and how they don't play cheap or dirty.
-
The Tech announcers just commented on him.
-
Well, that sucks. I forgot MTU was on in the eastern time zone, so I missed the whole first period. Good to see the Sioux on the top end so far.

Watch the video again, Dave. Zach doesn't flip out and chase Lucia after taking his gear off. He skates in his direction, prepared for the confrontation. He doesn't flip out until the refs tackle him. Nobody knows what Jones was going to do. Nobody knows what Jones and Lucia talked about on the ice. You don't KNOW that Jones was going to attack an unwilling Lucia. As AZSioux said, if Jones really wanted to "attack" Lucia, he wouldn't have waited until the puck dropped, he would have gone after him at first opportunity. Do you know why he didn't? Because that's not what you do in hockey. And for as many stupid and ignorant comments that constantly fly around this forum, to say that a fight (in hockey? No!) is WORSE than a spear absolutely takes the cake.
-
Like it or not, fighting is a part of hockey. I don't necessarily like it, but I accept it. In my eyes, Jones did the RIGHT thing. He talked to Lucia (supposedly). He took off his gloves, he took off his helmet, and was prepared to lay it on the line and have a fair fight. Lucia broke code (from what we understand and assume) and skated away. Yea, there are a lot of assumptions here, but we probably won't ever find out what exactly happened but at least Jones didn't just chase down Lucia and start hacking him with a stick, or crosschecking him in the neck while he was laying on his back on the ice.

For anybody interested, at 6:30 CST tonight on Fox College Sports - Central, you can see a replay of last nights (I assume) Sioux/Gophers game.
-
That's pretty much exactly how I was thinking.
-
They were really stretching that analogy, weren't they?
-
I work with a guy from SCSU, but for some reason he's also a big gopher fan. I think he got tired of the Huskies being so crappy all the time. This year, though, we've handled both of his teams pretty thoroughly.
-
Don't blame the educational system. Blame the general lack of common sense and the idiocy that is far too rampant in general society.
-
I dislike inter-message board arguments as much as anybody, but in case anybody didn't go over to GPL, here's a quote from their front page article regarding this game:
-
This is one time where I don't have to try to defend the Sioux after they wrongfully went after a Gopher player. Everything that happened this weekend was because the Gophers were pissed that they were losing and they lost their cool. Well, maybe (probably) a lot of it was because the Sioux were mouthing off on the ice, but that happens in all sports at just about all levels. If you can't deal with it by now, then you shouldn't be playing.
-
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to deal with people at work who didn't watch the game, but just heard about how the big bad Sioux were trying to start a fight tonight.
-
Stats: Goals: 6-1 Sioux Shots: 28-24 Sioux Scoring Chances: 20-10 Sioux Power Players: Gophers 0-1, Sioux 1-5 Penalties/Minutes: Gophers 17/50, Sioux 15/52 Faceoffs Won: 42-33 Sioux Turnovers: 23-13 Gophers
-
Well if he can turn the focus of the weekend towards Jones's move rather than his team getting absolutely railed, then he'll take the opportunity to do that.
-
Hill was told by one of his players that Jones was mad at Lucia for hitting Trupp by the bench. "My guy said it was just a bump and he laid on the ice". Hill said it was a classless move and it was all for show and there's no place for it.

Hooking on Gophers 4-on-4

I'm just thinking, if somebody starts chasing you and yelling (and taking equipment off), you'll look at him confused. ...unless you know it's coming but want to come off as an innocent little angel.
-
That's pretty much what I was trying to say, I just didn't word it very well.
