  1. If we get him (and he and Jost show up) it'll be an exciting season, especially if Boeser stays.
  2. This is kind of a risky position for you to take, gf, since on a personal level you appear never to have made the tourney. But a girl can dream, right?
  3. Let the captains go out back for an honest-to-god pissing contest. Let's be men here.
  4. Makes me a little nervous that Blais didn't want Jost. Or Boeser.
  5. Great story. I'll bet his players would have loved to hear that one.
  6. My daughter attended a hockey camp at the Ralph quite a few years ago when she was about 14 and pretty inexperienced. Hak and his boys were around a lot, though he had no official role. She had nothing but good things to say about him; he treated all the kids kindly and expressed interest in them when he was around them. She liked the way he played with his own kids at the rink. Of the men's players, her favorite was Pony Malone. She really did not know a lot about the players, but said Kozek didn't seem very interested in teaching kids hockey.
  7. Spoken like a person who has no feel for the game itself whatsoever.
  8. gfhockey was overheard at El Roco quoting Mathews as saying he would have come to UND for sure if Blais were still here.
  9. Amazing you posted that tonight, Sodbuster. For the first time in forever, I went to youtube tonight and entered "Sioux overtime goals," just to get some midsummer hockey fix. The Trupp diving OTwinner against Minnie comes up and I'm jacked up for Sioux hockey again. Immediately after that, I come here and read that a new recruit is "Maybe an Evan Trupp type player?" That'll work.
  10. We think the Sioux/Gopher rivalry is intense, you can imagine how the rivalry between Czechoslovakia and the USSR was after the Soviets invaded in 1968.
  11. UND really turned that guy around in two years.
  12. I just throw this out there for discussion, since it's not gonna happen. If Jost, Fabbro, and Mathews all decided to join the good guys in green this fall, would that present challenges for Berry? One of UND's strengths has been getting guys to buy into their roles, making a lot of average stand-alone players great team players. What do you do with that much talent? The room to underperform is awful damm large.
  13. Who are you referring to, scpa?
  14. In the four-year span beginning with the 66-67 season, Cornel lost a total of 5 games and tied one. They went 27-1-1; 27-2-0; 27-2-0; and 29-0. That's a sick run by anyone's standards.
  15. First Sparky, now Wilbur. Seriously, enjoy your family, Wilbur. There is no better way to spend your time.
  16. What he's doing with the Cup in Winnipeg is pure class. As a Sioux fan, it gives me more pride to see him doing that than parading it around the Ralph so we can have a jacked up fan experience.
  17. I doubt it's even close, even excluding Cornell's undefeated season. Dryden won 76 of 81 games he started at Cornell, which is hard to believe. A close friend of mine, who grew up on upstate NY and attended Cornell, wasn't even much of a hockey fan but got to see all of Dryden's career at Cornell. When I asked him whatg it was like to be there for that historic run, he said that everybody just assumed they would win every game they played.
  18. I agree. I had a great time and education at UND, but I can see why any 18 - 20 year old kid would be attracted to Madison. The hockey is at the top of the list for everyone at this level, but it's not the only thing, and if a player feels the program is about to turn around, that campus would be hard to say no to after a visit. For some kids. Not all, of course.
  19. Dang, that would be a tough one for Wilbur. The chance he's waited for so long, but having to become our hated enemy to get it? He'd hold his own on the ice, but can he party with those kids anymore?
  20. Tomek brings with him the Slovakian spirit of SPARKY! Wooohoooo! Tomek time indeed!
  21. I heard the Lumberjacks might let the Gophers play two at the Lumberdome if Minnie comes up with the right kind of money.
  22. Caps are crazy if they don't play that big hit TJ put on the CC guy up on their big screen to start the season. Caps fans will grow to love him anyway, but that will speed up the process. And DC folks have learned to appreciate big surprise hits from what they witness on the Hill on a regular basis.
  23. Was Kate Upton involved in this trade?
  24. I liked Murphy--too bad.
