I hope these games are on tv so where I can get them. I'll be in northern MN for the weekend.

Over on GPL the expert there says he would like to be a Gopher, but was recently close to committing "somewhere else" until the Gophers showed some interest. I guess we'll have to see how it shakes out. No idea where "somewhere else" is.

Let's keep the winning streak going, and keep the pressure on CC. There's still a slight chance at the McNaughton. Let's punish Duluth for not helping us out!

I'm becoming more and more of a fan of Bemidji State and Coach Serratore. First, from the little I've read he seems to be a great guy. And I like what he's said about playing an attacking up-tempo style, even if he knows he doesn't have the horses. He likes to watch that kind of hockey, the players like to play it, so they'll play it, regardless. And the man seems to have a sense of humor. They just seem like a program that plays it straight up and gives you their best shot. I respect that. Way to go Walski! Congratulations on a shutout in your first start for the Sioux. If this was Vikings preseason we'd have a QB controversy.

That was a pretty weak crosscheck.

I'm not convinced that waiving off Bina's goal was the wrong call. I've rewatched that goal a few times and VV is still in the crease when the puck comes into the goal. He was definitely pushed into the goalie so that's not his fault. I think the gray area is the amount of time it took him to leave the crease. He was definitely interfering with the goalie for a while, and some of that is a result of being pushed in, but somewhere there's a line crossed where the forward has to exit or else he's as fault for interfering with the goalie. He may have been trying to get out and his equipment may have been tangled with the goalie, I don't know. Either way, he's still in the crease when the puck enters the goal and I can see how the ref might blow that off. The Sioux have had so many goal replays go their way in the month + after Christmas that they are bound to have some go against them, fair or not. Better now than during the tourney.

Scanlon said he saw the note on the board outside the locker rooms informing both teams of the teddy bear toss, so Seratore was aware of it.

I'm going to guess that Walski starts today. The team will want to play hard for him.

I agree, who cares if MN hates us more than Wisconsin. We are the Fighting Sioux. Yeah, isn't it interesting how Flynn gets thrown in the box for *GASP* throwing a punch in response to a shot from a Badger. Let's see now, the Sioux start everything, so either Davidson or Forney must have been down in Mpls. Flynn had his guy on the ground and threw at least 1 punch. Oh, wait...he had his gloves on. So that's not thuggery, that's just normal. In one shift I saw Bickel give a Badger an elbow to the head, and then another gopher hit the same guy high. I just don't understand why the Sioux always play so cheap compared to everyone else in the league. I have to agree with you here. Maybe it was watching a game on the frozen ocean, but the Badgers, especially, looked disinterested down the stretch in the 3rd. I couldn't believe how many pucks they let MN beat them to in their own zone, or what they seemed to lack in a first step to anywhere. Did they really not care that much? Or does Wisconsin just lack speed and quickness?

At one point in the game I was just isolating on Jones on the PK as it was fun to watch him. The guy is always moving and he's SO quick and seems to be a very good skater. I'm bummed to hear he is banged up. Let's hope it's not a long term thing because this team needs him at tourney time.

Gasboy and I will be there with another good friend.

Much as I enjoy the nickname Murder Inc. and can understand the lighthearted intent with which it is being used, yababy8 makes a very important point. What if 60% of the Denver fans were wearing Murder, Inc. shirts on the day Bina was Paukoviched? Just 2 weeks ago even Ryan Duncan put a guy into the boards head-first. No one would expect that from Duncan and I think any rational person would know that Ryan really wouldn't intend to hurt someone or put them in that sort of risk, nor does he have a habit of playing that way. But he did it. We think the Hate-the-Sioux crowd is out now?

I think it's scary to go into the postseason without a backup that has at least started a game. If the Sioux don't get Walski in a game they are a pulled groin or concussion away from attempting to crown the season with a backup who's never started a game in his career.
-
I still like Murder, Inc. but considering we still get to use the nickname, there's still hardly anything better than: THE FIGHTING SIOUX!

Welcome to the board. Reasonably stated opinions like yours should never be ridiculed and one reason yours wasn't is because you didn't come from a holier-than-thou perspective. I agree with some of what you say. I don't think the Sioux are angels, and they have started their share of things, as well as take their share of cheap shots. It's just that I don't think other teams are innocent either, though they point to the coincidence of the Sioux fights to say that MUST be where the blame lays. I bolded one of your sentances. Everyone blames the Sioux for Zajac starting the scrum at the end of the game, yet Zajac did what happens by most teams in most games. He cross-checked a guy after the whistle. Lucia responded by wanting to fight Zajac. Zajac is blamed for starting that fight. Where is the criticism of Lucia escalating the situation? No one blames Lucia, yet in similar situations the Sioux are blamed for taking the Lucia role. Why is that? It's because it's become convenient for the Hate-UND crowd to spin it that way. Keep repeating something often enough and it becomes fact. It's fact that the Sioux have been involved in several situations, but if you look at each one individually, it's not as black and white as most fans outside of this program will admit.

I like Murder, Inc.
-
We wear the same halo as fans of other teams who continually insist their team is blameless.
-
I agree about Hunt. Not making that call likely elevated tensions.
-
Regardless of whether the ref blew the call in not throwing out Radke in the first place, Radke needs to take responsibility for his actions. It's hardly the refs fault if Radke wants to get into 2 fights in the same game. He made his decision to "go" again and now he has to accept the consequences.

The rules on charging aren't quite clear to me. In the UW game it appears to me that Kaip coasted for a very long way before he it that guy, only currected his line but didn't take a real "stride". Depending on the definition of the penalty I'm not sure that's a run. I'm curious if he replied to your comment about his player doing the exact same thing to Gordon that he was complaining about with Radke.
