"Furious George"....good work. Now we know what Matt Jones is going to grow up to be.

Conboy is headed for a brilliant career in the ECHL.

I never gave that idea much credence until now. Like Siouxman, I cannot accept that any coach would really think they could communicate with the team once they've been tossed. They don't let players play when they've been tossed, it's just a guess but I wouldn't think they'd let coaches coach.

This happened to me on Roman Augustovitz' Gopher blog on the Star Trib website after the series where I challenged some of the assertions in his blog post, and the charges levied by the email he posted from a reader. Actually, he just never approved the post for some reason. Another reason to appreciate the coverage and effort we get from Brad Schlossman. I've never seen anyone complain about comments on his blog.

Chambers wasn't even in town this weekend, so the only way he could see the action was on tv like the rest of us. But he certainly knows more than the rest of us. Great synopsis of the events, thanks for doing it.

Because that way it's not cheap. I watched that at about 1:30 am on the on-demand section of fightingsioux.com and I was cracking up watching Hextall work that guy. Brilliant! As for Gwoz, maybe next year when Denver visits when the DU team comes out on the ice, or maybe the first time Gwoz has a discussion with the ref, the Ralph needs to play "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'"
-
I don't have a real problem with Gwoz. Last year he wanted his players to stick up for their teammates. We rip on Lucia for having Bickle hide behind him while they take cheap shots and run, but also complain because Gwoz wants his players to stick up for each other. I don't see a whole lot about what Brookwell said that is out of line either. I took that to mean they expected a physical series and if things get out of hand the Sioux can expect them to back it up. Look at that as a backhanded swipe at some other teams, perhaps.
-
Right, but I don't think it's fair to count that 4th penalty because it's the one Gwoz got for protesting the officiating to that point. If we're going to count the 4th, let's count the missing "delay of game" penalty that SHOULD have been called!

Hey jk, did their coach tell them to go out and do it too? Couldn't help myself.

Hak said after the game that Denver did a really good job of pinching the D and that the Sioux didn't always do a good job of handling that. He would have liked to have seen a few more dumps out of the zone, if I remember correctly what he said.

I think LaPoint has improved quite a bit this season. I thought he was pretty good from what I could see on the internet this weekend except for a couple times where he just swallowed the puck on the boards on his own end when he had time to make a play, didn't, took a check, lost the puck, and there you go. Other than noticing that I thought he was ok this weekend, and had one very nice rush to draw a penalty. I think he's making steady progress.

Hak said he thought Denver came out with some urgency and the Sioux just didn't quite have their A game tonite, maybe some heavy legs. Going to have some games like that and gutted out a tie tonite. Eidsness stole a point for us tonite, he's going to have to do that sometimes. Thought the Sioux had a couple good shifts to start the 3rd but then had to kill the penalties. Frattin and Finley both were poor decisions (players, not the calls). Would have preferred they left Gwoz on the bench and not called 4 straight on the Sioux. On TV Sweeney asked what Hak thought of the fact the Sioux were called for 5 straight penalties after Gwoz was tossed and Hak said he was glad Sweeney recognized that, and he might have mentioned that to the ref during the game. Other than that he wouldn't comment on Gwoz's antics.

Agreed. 3 points isn't too bad, though. 10 points in the last 3 weekends. That's a good run rate.
-
Earlier I thought they announced it as a 10 minute misconduct, not a DQ. That does change things.
-
No different than a player in the box, they all go into the locker room between periods.
-
Wiercioch has a booming shot. Wow. Have to win 1 period, at home. Let's get it done.
-
Huge answer by Zajac and Trupp. Trupp is money on breakaways. Now to weather the storm until the end of the period.
-
That sould be an additional delay of game penalty.
-
I can see what Gwoz is ticked about. The Sioux have at least twice tonite thrown a guy down with one arm when checking them at the boards. I've seen guys get called for holding for doing that in the past.
-
In the last 3 home games Frattin catches that pass and scores instead of losing it in his skates.
-
There are games where that shot by Frattin would have hit Cheverie square in the chest. Nice work by Frattin. Mario HAS to be smarter than that if he wants regular PT.
-
Denver was frustrated last night and likely embarrassed all day today. They are a good team with pride and I expect they will be well focused tonite. Sioux better be ready from the get go. Fortunately, the Sioux have done a pretty good job of starting well lately. I think tonite will be a close one, and a physical war. Not necessarily fighting, just hard, physical hockey.

It was on by just after midnight last night. That's when I checked. Not sure how much earlier it was on.

I didn't catch that at first. That was sneaky funny.
