SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play
dagies replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I have no clue if Mattson is coming next year or the year after, but let's not forget that media outlets often don't have any more information on when a player is actually coming on campus than most of us. Often they are going off of "conventional wisdom" or the last known best information. Again, I'm not saying he's not coming next year nor am I saying that he should or shouldn't. I'm just saying I'm not going to take this article's statement of fact as the last word. -

A brain? A brain might tell a guy that the money is right, the opportunity is right, and the organization is right, and that the schooling can be finished during the summer term on a campus with some of the very best hockey training facilities can be found. Facilities that, I'm guessing, are made available to alumni players as needed. -
I've sat there for the Frozen Four. I wouldn't recommend it because teams in bad colors win. But for sightlines, I love it. I think club level is excellent. Fewer people, concourses are open and roomy, and it's a great place to watch the game, especially if you are on the end and watching the whole play develop. You're high enough to get a real good view of the whole developing situation, but not so high you feel out of it. I would have no issues sitting club level.

VandeVelde has been playing like a man against boys out there. We'll miss him when he does leave and I can see how it could be after this season. -
Who are you and what have you done with our Goon?
-
I just saw cfm(something) post a day or so ago. First time in a long time.
-
Because we haven't accomplished anything yet this year. I don't see Gwoz's comments that you are referring to in that story. Why should we really care what other fans/programs think of us. If we can be proud of our team let them take shots. If we win and they don't want to give us credit, so much the sweeter if they want to grouse and complain about it.

I just figured you both left your own place unattended while sneaking into the enemy territory.

Wait a minute. Maybe absence makes the heart grow fonder but I don't recall Forney getting ripped much at all. He may not have gotten a lot of love but that would have been because he rarely made it on the ice. I do recall Forney making a couple of nice plays when he did get on the ice and people applauding him for it. Just because he's gone don't just throw him into your pile of Sioux players that you think other fans have thrown under the bus. If my memory on the matter is wrong remind me but I don't have time to go back and research it. -
Agree with you and jk on Duncan. This year especially, maybe because he's no longer playing in the shadow of Toews or Oshie, Dunca's real value is clear. jk said savvy and that's a good word. I know that when Duncan has the puck he dang near always makes the best possible play with it. He may not dominate the stat sheet but the guy is so valuable on the ice. And he's not just a PP guy. He's effective even strength and is a top PK guy. Not only that, but one of the best character guys that you could hope to have. What good fortune that he came to UND.

I love how the announcement for the Sioux goals sounds like someone just died.

Would like to see the Sioux get more shots on goal but maybe it's not as bad as it seemed last night. Since the first of this year, the Seawolves have averaged 24 SOG per home game against. The Sioux had 22 last night. However, the only games with lower shots on goal were Tech with 18 and 22, and SCSU with 16. Bucky put up 25 and 37 and SCSU put up 26. Still, if you look at those numbers the Sioux aren't that far off. The only game with a lot of shots against was one against Bucky. The Sioux weren't far off the mark otherwise. Alaska isn't giving up a lot at home. AA's home record during that stretch is 1-4-2. AA has put up an average 25 SOG per home game during that stretch. Last night they put up 26. Both Bucky and Tech put up more shots in the Saturday game than in the Friday game. SCSU put up fewer. AA is 1-1-1 in Saturday contests, they are 0-3-1 on Friday nights. I think the Sioux have more than 22 SOG to offer, so I like our chances to put up a little more offense tonite. Shyiak said that AA played one of their best games of the season last night. The Sioux weathered that even if they didn't have their best game. If they can amp it up a little tonite, and Eidsness continues to save the ones he should and steal one or 2, then I like our chances for a big sweep. We shall see.

The AA goal looks onside from that replay.

The gophers have been struggling and no one enjoys that more than I do, but there's a whole lot of "overrated" chanting going on here and the game isn't over if you know what I mean.

Monster win and some good hard effort rewarded at the end. Good night in the end.
-
just restarted it and all is ok.
-
Is it just my system or is everyone having heavy pixelation now?
-
He's lucky they didn't get called for another, or at least a boarding later in the game. It was either Barriball or Carmen.
-
CC's had a couple of bounces go against them but then got one on the stick. 4-3 CC
-
Seems like whenever there's a fight in college hockey the gophers are involved. Ok, maybe it wasn't a fight but roughing's pretty close.
-
Was that Donald booing during the PP?
-
Site loaded on my 3rd try. Better than nothing. A couple nice chances there. Hope we don't regret missing on them.
-
I think the gophers are finding their game again as Kangas finds his and will be factor down the stretch.
-
I don't think Lucia is sitting him for that incident. Schack rarely played before, only when the gophers were shorthanded or needed to shut up Hextall.
